MetLife Pet Insurance - undisclosed fees
I recently had to cancel my insurance policy within 24 hours, and I was charged a $12 enrollment fee. Dianna, a manager from MetLife Pet Insurance, mentioned that while they will refund the premium, the $12 enrollment fee is non-refundable and isn’t included in the premium. Just a friendly heads-up for fellow pet owners!
Fetch Pet Insurance - Final Update: Fetch Pet Insurance Prescription Sublimit
So, in case anyone was curious, I posted [HERE](https://www.reddit.com/r/petinsurancereviews/comments/1io7ggn/fetch_pet_insurance_prescription_sublimit/) and [HERE](https://www.reddit.com/r/petinsurancereviews/comments/1j4f71u/update_fetch_pet_insurance_deceitful_enrollment/) about an ongoing issue with Fetch Pet Insurance about a "prescription sub-limit" applied to Virginia, USA policies and wanted to give the final update as far as I am aware.
TLDR: Fetch pet is rolling out a "prescription sub-limit" of 1500 dollars on all applicable policies, that applies to any and all medications (including ones given in hospital and during surgery). This sub-limit was not disclosed to me nor does it exist on any of their publicly available documentation. My dog had surgery in January and a portion of it wasn't covered because they applied all of the medications used in that surgery to the sub-limit, and I was informed that for the rest of the year no medications would be covered due to this sub-limit.
I made a report to the BBB and contacted my states insurance board to see if this sub-limit was appropriately filed with them. Haven't heard back about the BBB complaint but my state's insurance office did confirm that Fetch filed the sub-limit with the state. I have no idea what other states this is applicable in, because there's still no information about it on their site, probably because they don't want people to know about the bottlenecking they are applying to policies.
After quite a bit of back and forth, I've been informed that my and several other individuals who had surgeries are having those claims reassessed and that surgical medications will not be imposed against the sub-limit. They are adjusting the under-writing language to specifically change how they assess anesthetic drugs, but all other medications (nerve blocks, pain management in surgery, and antibiotics given in surgery) will still be applied to the sub-limit.
With my reassessment, I received the remaining balance I was owed from my dog's surgery and now have about 850 dollars left in my prescription sub-limit for the year. I'm still quite a bit miffed that they were able to apply such a restrictive sub-limit to my policy without informing me, and this sub-limit is still applicable to medications given by veterinarians in-hospital, but at the very least they are not applying anesthetic medications to this sub-limit any longer.
If you had a surgery only partially covered by Fetch Pet Insurance in the past year due to complications surrounding this sub-limit. Please submit an appeal, I've been told (on a recorded line) that they are reassessing any surgical claims made using the previous underwriting language surrounding this policy.
Erie Insurance - Erie Insurance Rate Hike 2025
Got the new 2025 Auto Insurance invoice from Erie Insurance. The only thing I can figure is one of my adult sons hit an unknown object lying in the middle of the turnpike late at night that resulted in some damage to one of our cars. It wasn't anyone's fault and Erie ended up paying out about $3,500 for repairs. But I don't think that justifies such a huge rate increase for each vehicle!!!

State Farm - Coverage denied; accepted a year later
I got into a car accident almost a year ago. The person I got into the accident with was insured by State Farm, the accident was in late May, she opened the policy at the beginning of May. At the time of the accident when I called State Farm to attempt to file a claim with their party’s insurance, I was told they couldn’t find the policy in the system. Upon following up numerous times State Farm ultimately denied coverage and I had to open a claim with my insurance. I was not at fault if that matters…
My vehicle was totaled out, I paid my deductible and bought a new car with the check issued by my insurance. My insurance was unable to recover my deductible from the driver or State Farm and ultimately sent the file to collections. After the file was sent to collections they were able to recover the deductible, however are unable to tell me who made the payment.
Fast forward a year later I get a call from State Farm regarding the accident. Apparently the driver was covered at the time, and they’re offering a settlement. I called my insurance to inquire if they knew the driver was covered and they sent over a copy of State Farm’s written statement denying coverage… accept the person listen under “Our Insured:” doesn’t match the name of the driver which is the same name on the policy information. My question is, I already signed the release for the settlement but this something worth following up on? I spoke to State Farm to ensure the party was actually covered and they confirmed she was. Or should I just wait for payment and let it be?
State Farm - Car accident arbitration
Location: cook county, Illinois
I was recently involved in a car accident. I was stopped at a stop sign, behind the white line and on my side of the road. I was waiting to turn left. Another driver who was driving on the perpendicular road ended up making a left hand turn on the road I was on. She ended up hitting me by driving head on into me.
After she hit me I approached her vehicle and in a non aggressive way (however I was irritable) I asked why she hit me/ how she did not see me? She claimed she was distracted by her daughter and simply did not see me and hit me head on. She was very apologetic and admitted fault.
I contacted non emergency police to come to the scene so we could exchange info.
When police arrived they took our statements and the report states I was at the stop sign and driver admitted not seeing me and hitting me. The report also states I was not obstructing any road ways or her lane of travel.
I figured this was pretty clear cut. However I recently found out through my insurance company that the other drivers insurance is now denying taking liability and claiming I am at fault because the driver is now reporting to her insurance company that I was in her lane and not giving her enough room to make the turn. Even though police report states the opposite and she admitted that she hit me to police because she didn’t see me. The police also stated in their report that she was at fault.
The husband of the driver who was not present at the scene reached out to me via text the day after the accident to apologize for his wife hitting my car and requesting to fix my car by not going through insurance because he did not want his rates to go up. I did not respond to his text and simply just started the claim through my insurance. I am speculating this angered him and he is now encouraging his wife to change the story to now find me at fault.
I obtained a copy of the police report and I am currently waiting on the body cam footage from the police that recorded our statements that night of the accent as proof that the other driver admitted fault to submit to my insurance since the claim is now in the arbitration process. I also sent screenshots of the text message the husband sent me as further proof as an admission of guilt to my insurance.
I am curious, I know at this point the insurance companies are dueling this out and will present my proof to a third party and the decisions will eventually be made to determine who is at fault if I am understanding that correctly.
But is there anything else that can be done? Can I go after the other driver for providing fraudulent information/ lying to her insurance? Or will that be determined in the arbitration process? Her insurance claimed they did a “careful investigation” and are denying my claim because they find me at fault. However it does not sound like her insurance obtained the police report so I am unclear as to how they performed a “careful investigation”.
Lastly, is anyone able to provide any insight into the likelihood of me winning this arbitration case and if there is anything else I can/should do?
Progressive - INSURANCE BILL HELP
Long story short. February 12th, Progressive sent me an email saying if I don’t pay the minimum that on the 28th they would cancel my insurance BUT on February 14, they sent an email saying that they had already canceled my policy on the 3rd…
They still want me to pay a full month’s bill for insurance I had for only 2 days. HECK NO.
I had been fighting a case to get money back for a certain reason & they assured me that everything would work out.
Apparently whoever was looking into my case, denied it (okay fine… sure) & then for some bizarre reason took it upon themselves to believe that because it was denied I wouldn’t want insurance anymore? So they canceled it themselves.
Yes, I was on the phone with them about 3hrs. They all said there’s nothing that can be done but that an agent shouldn’t have the power to cancel one’s policy.
If I don’t pay, it goes to collections.
So why did he?
How do I fight this? Please help.
Thank you in advance <3

Aetna DMO - Aetna DMO is causing issues. What can I do?
I have Aetna DMO, and I am constantly being overcharged for things. It started with the dentist recommending a deep cleaning even when I knew for sure that I didn't need it. I still paid because I thought it was better than letting my teeth worsen. Then the dentist tells me I need 2 inlays. The insurance says they should cost $115, but the dentist's very rude receptionist mentions that they use Emax only, which is a $750 upgrade.
It makes no sense to be paying so much for these treatments, and for all I know, I may not even be needing them. What is a good solution for me at this point? Just go to a well-reviewed dentist and pay them cash for this? Or can I maybe get external insurance myself? But I doubt any external insurance will be as good as what my employer is already offering. (Aetna DMO)
Wawanesa - Cancelling Canadian Wawanesa Auto Insurance – $3,600 Fee?! I Can’t Afford That – Need Advice
Hey Reddit,
I’m a 27-year-old male, single, no spouse or kids, living in Mississauga. I moved to Canada last year on PR, got my G license, and financed my first car (Honda Civic Hybrid 2025) in late November. I’ve had Wawanesa auto insurance ever since, paying $750/month through automatic withdrawal.
Here’s the full picture:-
I originally got this car not just for personal use, but also with the intention to do Uber Eats. I wanted to stay completely legit, so I was upfront with every insurance provider I contacted. They all told me that due to my lack of Canadian driving history, I wasn’t eligible for regular commercial insurance. So I went through a broker, and he found me a commercial policy with Wawanesa that would cover Uber driving.
I also have a main job just 30 seconds walk from my house, and I have a couple of major licensing exams coming up, so Uber is going to take a backseat for the next few months anyway.
That’s why I’m thinking of canceling my insurance or switching to a non-commercial plan, but here's the problem:-
I’ve heard that canceling before the end of the term means Wawanesa could charge a short-rate cancellation fee, and someone said it might total around $3,600 upfront in my case since my policy started around November, 2024.
I simply don’t have that kind of money in my account.
If I don’t cancel, they’ll just take another $750 in the first week of April, as usual.
Also worth noting:-
I have a clean driving record since getting my G license here in Canada, except one camera ticket I got in Brampton for going 7-8 km/h over the limit.
I’ve used TD Bank’s auto insurance calculator and it showed that I could probably get a non-commercial plan in the mid-$400s—which is way more reasonable.
The broker who arranged my current plan hasn’t been very transparent & hasn't even been responding to my calls or texts recently, so I’m planning to contact Wawanesa directly when their office opens.
So here are my questions while I lose sleep over this:-
1. Any preparation tips on what I should say or talk or do on my upcoming phone call with Wawanesa? (I'm completely new to all of this)
2. If I cancel now, will I still be charged the full $3,600 upfront?
3. Can I negotiate or pay the cancellation fee in installments?
4. If I do cancel, what should I look out for?
5. Is there any way to downgrade to a non-commercial plan instead of canceling altogether?
6. What would you do in my situation? Any personal experience with Wawanesa or brokers?
I know I should probably just call Wawanesa and ask all this, and I will once they open. But since I can’t sleep and this is really stressing me out, I figured I’d toss it out to Reddit too. Appreciate any advice you all have.
Thanks!
Progressive - Auto insurance sources
I have been driving for nearly 25 years. I have nearly a completely clean record but didn't drive for a while up until a couple years ago.
I am looking for any suggestions for sources to get the beat rates possible. Are there Any websites anyone knows of that are noteworthy? And trustworthy?
I love my agent but I can't keep paying progressive $2000 a year (discounted 200-300 every 6 months for paying in full) for basic state minimum coverage (no collision etc)
