GEICO - Can GEICO add driver to my policy without permission??
So I recently opened a new policy with GEICO for my car. A few days after opening the policy(march 2025), they added a driver without contacting me or giving me any notification. That alone increased my premium $450. The driver that was added is my GF that doesn’t live in my household or is licensed to drive(never got a DL). They claim I added her in a quote but i didn’t quote with them since ~Nov-Dec 2024(she visited during this time and left in Jan)I know you’re supposed to include any person in the household in a policy due to liability but I’m currently living alone. GEICO also claimed that they use “DMV records” to add drivers to policy on behalf of the customers if we didn’t do it already. That couldn’t be the case since my GF had no affiliation with the DMV in my state. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated
National General - Have Filed Suit Against National General in Small Claims Court
Basically, they screwed me over on an accident, failed to defend me when I was clearly not at fault, even according to the law. Showed law to the adjuster. Adjuster said "There is nothing you can do, or show me that will make me reconsider my decision." I said "even the law, sir?" He said "Nothing." Then tried to get my claim file a couple years after the fact, and they essentially denied me access and blocked my access to my online account by changing something in my name and changing my DOB. Filed for breach of contract, and their lawyer answered claim saying "he's not our customer", trying to pin it on the underwriter, who, as it turns out, isn't even the real underwriter! It's a fronting arrangement with multiple layers of shell companies.......totally not transparent. Complaint to DOI has been under review, but way past deadline for response or resolution. This is gonna be a fun project. Anybody run into something like this before?
GAP insurance company - I'm stumped on what to do with my auto loan, GAP insurance etc
Location: Missouri
Alright long story short, I had a car accident earlier this year that totalled my vehicle. I had full coverage insurance that covered the majority of the auto loan I had. The other party, the GAP insurance is to take care the rest of my loan. I got a piece of mail from the GAP people saying the check has been issued to my lean holder on February 11th, was told it should take no more than 30 days for that money to hit that account. So I called my auto lender to ask what's going on, turns out the GAP insurance company sent the check to the wrong address, that was March 11th. 30 days since the initial start of the GAP claim, I called them again today, March 25th to figure out what is going on. Come to find out they issued a new check on March 18th which was last week. It's been 7 days, nearly 45 in total since my auto loan should of been taken care of but it hasn't and I haven't been able to get a new loan due to my current outstanding loan that the GAP insurance is supposed to take care of.
Basically I don't know what to do at this point, I'm still paying on the current auto loan cause I don't want it to effect my credit but at the same time I no longer have the vehicle since it's been totalled and taken by my auto insurance, what do I do in this situation, is there anything I can do?
Allstate - Help- Landlord insurance newbie
I am looking to start renting my home in July when I move out of the country. I'm very confused on landlord insurance, though, and would love some help understanding it.
Everything on Google says landlord insurance should be cheaper than homeowners insurance since they don't cover the personal property, but from my one quote so far from Allstate it's also looking like they don't cover the actual property either. What is $66,500 going to do for me if my house burns down or gets sucked up in a tornado? (Quote at the bottom)
It just doesn't seem logical to me.
The lady on the phone said something about requiring renters insurance and that THAT would cover the rest of the property should something happen, but is that true?
I am a worrier beyond worrier, and want to make sure everything is protected, especially since I'll be in a different country.
Could anyone help me understand what I should be looking for/asking for/quoting for? And what should I be requiring for the renters insurance? I have an insurance broker getting me more quotes at the moment.
I just don't want to make the wrong decision and end up getting 1/3 of my remaining mortgage should something happen to the house. 😩
My 1 quote so far:

my ins co - In which states are balance billing waivers illegal?
I reported a provider to my ins co for balance billing. The provider wanted me to sign a waiver allowing them to balance bill me. I asked the rep if this waiver is illegal, and/or would it get the provider kicked off for violating their contract. I really couldn't get a straight answer. I was just told that unfortunately a lot of providers do this, and there's no guarantee of what will happen to them.
Is it worth it to also report them to my state's insurance division? I don't want to waste my time if these balance billing waivers are legal.
STD company - STD Overpayment
Located in Oregon, USA
Short Term Disability insurance related to parental leave
I took parental leave from work in 2024. My job/company is entirely remote, so my employer uses a benefits manager, JW, for payroll and insurance, and a third party administrator, Sparrow, specifically to manage short- or long-term leave, kind of like a concierge service for employees (because rules vary significantly from state to state). I signed the things that Sparrow told me to sign.
I was supposed to be paid from the state, from private STD, and topped up by my employer. I didn’t have a STD policy of my own; I was told that my employer took out a STD policy on its employees. Payments were confusing, delayed, and as a new parent I was not paying attention. I didn’t tally things up until recently to do my taxes. I’m missing a 1099 from STD so I called Sparrow, who said go to STD, who said go to JW, who said there was no STD policy for me… but if there was it should be in my W2. Taxes were withheld from STD so I said regardless of how we got here, I need an accurate W2, which is in the works. And it looks like I was overpaid by the STD amount.
Lo and behold, today I got a call from the STD company saying my STD claim was denied and submitted for overpayment. I kinda laughed… I’d just been signing paperwork and living my life. How the heck did they approve and pay a claim on a policy that does’t exist? And why did Sparrow/JW request that money? And why was I told it was my company’s policy? So I told the STD company that they can recoup the money from one of the benefits managers. This strikes me as an unenforceable request for repayment from me, but I don’t know what I don’t know and would appreciate any insight about how to navigate this. Thanks in advance.
Santander Consumer - Collection removed but not original creditor
Santander Consumer sold the debt to Jefferson Capital, and it was removed from my credit report. Why is Santander still on my credit report and not removed as well? Btw Santander is a charge off account
Bristol West - Need help regarding insurance
Edit: Total amount that was for the insurance that month was like $400 something. I think around $430. Not sure if that has something to do with it
Hey so I had gotten my car back a couple of months ago. To put it short, for some dumbass reason my ass didn't think I would need insurance to take the car off the lot and didn't factor that into it, as the last time I gotten a car I went to a shady shitty dealership which let me drive off with just liability. So I had set myself up with Bristol West. Thing is I did not have the money for the insurance but it went through because I did an option that would collect over a few days. It showed as active for me to collect my car. Anyways immediately like a day or two later, I decide to go with Progressive which was much cheaper and canceled my plan with Bristol by calling them. (I used Bristol to pick up my car but then changed it to Progressive and they took that) After it got canceled I got some mail saying that I owe $110.
Now question. I do know that say if you cancel mid-cycle or early they give like a "refund" or don't make you pay the whole amount. My question is, does $110 seem right for literally using them for about a day or so. Keep in mind they couldn't even charge me but it showed my acc as active. Active enough to try and get my car. Does anyone have any experience with this? How do they decide how much to charge you when you cancel, Does it matter when you cancel or they just give you a rate which you have to pay. I just realized that they sent it to debt collections and want it.
EasyCare - Gap insurance won’t pay due to normal wear and tear?
So I can upload my gap contract and everything if need be but my car was totaled (hit a deer) and they said they figure it out by my total owed at time of loss was 21,187.49 subtract insurance settlement 18,179, then they said insurance took off $1,866 due to condition of vehicle which was just normal wear and tear deductions. So l'm left with $1,141.99 GAP benefit.
So they're saying my base vehicle value according to CCC was $19,416 then they subtracted $1866 due to condition adjustment then I'm left with adjusted vehicle value $17550 + tax title and fees comes to $18679 minus my $500 deductible.
So l'm left with $18,179, and then my insurance said my actual cash value was $17550. So am I getting screwed here?
