LexisNexis - LexisNexis had wrong info and system was down
I recently found out that there were wrong 'occurences' under my name (list only) in family's auto insurance, which stated that i had two accidents between 2021-2023 "CLUE only". However, I did not have a license nor owned a car (my family only got the car in 2024). We had no previous insurance/cars, so these records were completely impossible and wrong.
The insurance company asked me to contact LexisNexis to dispute and update it (because they said all insurance companies pulled that info from lexis nexis and there was nothing they could do to change it). Each time I called them, it was a min of 30 min on hold and when i finally got through to a live agent, they said their system was down so they could not authenticate anybody's ID and asked me to call back 24 hours later. I've been trying for 3 days, but each day an agent would tell me the same thing about their system being down/not able to help anybody at this point. LexisNexis also said that even after customers' ID were authenticated, it'd take 30 days to send a result by mail (another 7-10 days). It was a frustrating experience.
Wonder if anybody had similar experience with wrong records from LexisNexis - thanks.
Obamacare - Denied care for having Subsidized health insurance (ATCP, ACA, Obamacare)
When I call an in-network practice, they usually tell me the next available appointment is in four to six weeks—or that the doctor isn’t taking new patients, it goes without saying all of this is contrary to information updated by my insurance weekly. I push a little or ask about seeing an available doctor, the conversation suddenly shifts to my insurance. As soon as they find out I have a subsidized plan, I sometimes get told they don’t accept it.
Is this happening because of recent changes in federal policies, budgets, or staffing? Are providers running into issues processing claims from these plans?
parents' insurance company - Drivers license being suspended due to not being covered by my parents insurance.
What Should I Do?
A few weeks ago, I was in a car accident while driving my parents' car that I wasn’t in fault. When I called my parents insurance company they told me i wasn’t covered by their insurance policy and didn't say anything and said to call the other party to solve this they didn't informed me on any of the steps so I assumed that I have to only call the other persons insurance. I wasn’t covered under my parents insurance, as they excluded me from due to not having 3 years o experience and I had no idea how much this would impact me. This was totally my fault for not being informed. My parents don’t speak good English and the language barrier wasn’t clear whether they added me or removed me from their policy. I'm a full time student taking 30 units this spring and currently I live with my boyfriend near my campus and visit my parents about once a month. That day, I just wanted to go to the gym and didn't think much about it so I drove myself since my parents were busy. I never thought that one small decision could turn into something so overwhelming. I’ve only been driving for a year, and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. I didn’t even know that I was supposed to notify the DMV if the accident caused more than $1,000 in damage. I’ve tried everything I called my parents’ insurance company, I called the DMV to request a hearing but they told me there’s nothing I can do because I wasn’t covered. Now, I’m facing the possibility of having my license suspended, and I feel completely lost.
Is there *any* way to stop this from happening? I don’t want one mistake to take away my ability to drive. If anyone has advice or knows what I can do, I’d truly appreciate it.
State Farm - Has anyone ever had to pay $825/month car insurance (state farm) for a 2017 toyota corolla?
It’s a long story but I’ll try to shorten it.
I’m not 100% sure how insurance works. My car is under my name but my insurance is shared with my parents. My parents have a few other family members included (me, one sister that is 25, an uncle, an aunt). But my Toyota Corolla 2017 is under my name, automatic payments under my own bank account, etc. I guess my parents own the whole insurance policy but the car is under my name.
My bill in December 2024 was raised to $400 (NOT full coverage)
They won’t give a clear answer as to why they raised my bill so high. But I let it slide. I saw it as a consequence to our current economy.
In february they charged me $825. No clear answer. They gave me unreasonable excuses such as being under 25 (I’m 28), or someone else under the policy is under 25 (no one is under 25). Someone that USED to be on it was under 25 but they got their own insurance under a different company over a year ago. But they used that person as an excuse either way. We even sent proof that they are no longer with State Farm and for how long but that wasn’t enough.
We dispute it. They compromised and said I won’t have to pay my “$400 bill” for March. Technically half of $824 isn’t $400 so in the end they won an extra $25 from me.
Today they told me I still owe $200 this month and $200 next month. That they’re splitting the $425 between March and April.
PLUS they randomly began charging my 25 yr old sister an extra $26 AND used the name of the person who was under 25 on that bill (again, that person has not been with us or state farm for over a year).
Does anyone have any idea what’s going on? We’ve never been late on payments, we paid off our cars, we never fight them when they raise our bill (except for this time because $825 a month is excessive). My last accident was in 2022, it was not my fault, I never filed a claim or asked for money to fix my car, I asked for info about my options 2 years after the fact (in 2024) but it was too late to do anything about it anyway.
I’m planning to cancel my policy with State Farm but I’m still curious about what is happening here.
Progressive - Car Insurance / financing Nightmare - Need Help!
In New Jersey here. I’ve just been having awful luck with my car the last few years and I’m trying to figure out how to proceed.
My driving history abstract pulled 1/2025:
December 2021 - ticket obstructing passage of other vehicle
March 2022 - fender bender - at fault but not shown on my abstract. insurance paid
October 2022- My leased 2019 Jeep Cherokee was totaled in a hit and run accident. Not at fault. Insurance paid
May 2023 - a Tesla and My new Kia sportage (financed in 1/2023) collide while both Backing out of opposite parking spaces. not shown on my abstract. Insurance paid
November 2023 - got out of my Kia sportage, wasn’t in park and rolled away from me and hit a garage wall. Insurance paid.
progressive sends nonrenewal notice.
January 2024 I can’t find any insurance coverage for less than $1000 a month. So I give up, unregister it, leave it uninsured just and put the car in the garage.
It’s been 15 months without a car. I still can’t afford to insure it. My sister and I decided we would trade cars. I would take her 2015 Chrysler 200 since it’s paid off and see if I can get cheaper insurance. Then she could register and insure my sportage under her name and use it for herself. we’d prefer not to refinance it in her name because we’re going to split the finance payment. My portion would be like paying her for the Chrysler. So that’s our plan but She has NJM and they’re saying they can’t insure the sportage if she’s not on the loan.
Is this possible?
Also any insights the situation as a whole and what to do to proceed? I really need to get back on the road.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Santander Consumer - Collection removed but not original creditor
Santander Consumer sold the debt to Jefferson Capital, and it was removed from my credit report. Why is Santander still on my credit report and not removed as well? Btw Santander is a charge off account
Aetna - Incorrect deductible charge from hospital. Any chance of getting money back?
I had a pre-op call with my hospital today prior to my bilateral salpingectomy (preventative birth control) procedure next week. I have a new Aetna plan with a $2k
deductible, so it didn’t seem crazy when the hospital said I owed $2k.
But now I’m hearing that my procedure should be free under the ACA. I was told I’ll get my receipt for the charge at my pre-op appt on Friday. Any chance of me getting this money back if I dispute? Can I do a chargeback on my card?
Cigna - Cigna no longer supported by my hospital and we are a medically complex family. Help.
We were uninsured for awhile, and honestly, it wasn't that bad. We had a 94% discount from the hospital we used and had a great experience with them for many years.
Fast forward to last year, we officially got insurance. Cigna. We have an HSA account and a high deductible. We spend SO much money, but I view this as paying for peace of mind so if anything horrendous happened we would be covered.
Now, I just got word that our hospital is discontinuing service with Cigna and everything is going to be considered out-of-network.
This is a blow to our family because 2 out of the 4 of us require specialists. My son is medically complex and the hospital has a children's hospital wing where he sees 5 specialists a year and may need surgery in the coming years. I've spent years finding a medical team that works for our family and they're all at this establishment. It's all being pulled out from under us...it takes effect in 3 weeks.
I don't know what to do now....should we go back to being uninsured? How do we shop around for insurance? Should I look into catastrophic insurance? A friend recommended US Health Group but after searching this sub I'm hesitant.
Key points:
1) We make too much money for any form of government assistance (however, we are NOT wealthy)
2) We live 2 hours away from the next closest children's hospital and I have yet to find out if they accept Cigna.
3) How do I vet an insurance company?
TIA
MetLife Pet Insurance - undisclosed fees
I recently had to cancel my insurance policy within 24 hours, and I was charged a $12 enrollment fee. Dianna, a manager from MetLife Pet Insurance, mentioned that while they will refund the premium, the $12 enrollment fee is non-refundable and isn’t included in the premium. Just a friendly heads-up for fellow pet owners!
Spot Pet Insurance - Spot Pet Insurance. - deceptive!
We purchased Spot Pet Insurance for our newly adopted rescue Golden and chose “Accident” insurance only . They happily took our application and all monthly payments since July 2024. Over the weekend, he suddenly became lame on his back right leg and was very reluctant to walk or stand up. We know it occurred between his am walk and 3 pm. After taking him to Blue Pearl and getting imaging done as well as pain meds, we submitted our invoice for reimbursement. DENIED. Reason why? We didn’t have the EXACT time of the injury. I submitted an appeal, but if it’s denied we are cancelling. We would be better off putting $100 bucks a month away in his own health account. What a bait and switch!
