Fetch - Not transparent. Difficult to reach customer service. High pressure sales tactics.
Reps of this company (Fetch Inc / Fetch Pet Insurance) were on premises at an animal shelter and people adopting an animals (including me) were required to speak with a Fetch rep about pet health insurance prior to completing the adoption process (making payment for the animal).
The Fetch rep verbally told me the pet health insurance policy was "no-risk because the first month would be free". Any subsequent month premiums would be a set amount which I was quoted verbally by a rep using rather high-pressure sales tactics, imo, and at a vulnerable moment when I was trying to pay attention to the newly adopted puppy I was literally holding in my arms. The policy coverages, endorsements, and policy number were not ever provided to me in writing — even tho the Fetch rep took my payment information at time of adoption. Two days later a debit amount appeared on my bank statement for more than the monthly premium amount quoted to me by the Fetch rep on adoption day (and per bank statement, Fetch also set this up as a monthly autopay — I never approved the debit amount charged nor recurring pre-authorized monthly premium payments.)
I tried ro contact Fetch Inc to cancel any policy existing (after receiving a letter via USPS that implied I had a policy, but no policy number appeared on the letter nor did any contact info for Fetch Inc customer service). There are no direct ways (that I could find) on the Fetch website that allowed me to contact or to speak directly with an agent or customer service rep (calls during business hours M-F were directed to an answering service) to resolve these issues. Message I left with the answering service was never returned by anyone at Fetch Inc..
The shelter outtake process was rushed, chaotic, shoulder-to-shoulder (new owners and their pets). The shelter invoice listed 'Fetch Inc.' as a line item and $0.00 payment for that line item. I took that to mean I had declined coverage. In hindsight, a non-profit shelter partnering so closely (insurance reps on premises that are required as part of outtake process) with a for-profit insurance company seems suspect on the face of it. Of course, by then I had already selected a puppy. btw, this shelter also does not even allow potential adopters to enter the shelter prior to filling out a form — seems this hides from public view that an insurance company is on premises and is part of the outtake process required by the shelter. I will be reviewing and identifying the animal shelter in a separate review.
Cannot recommend this pet insurance company.
Fetch - Premium doubles in one year knowing…
Premium doubles in one year knowing other companies won’t cover preexisting conditions. It’s a trap
So I contacted Fetch again following their response. My premium went from $309 to $680 per year. I requested a quote if I lowered cap from 15k to 10k. No change in premium. They say if you have a small breed dog that develops allergies, by age 4 their premiums could double.
Fetch - I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with this insurance company and felt misled by their unclear policies. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for insurance needs.
Fetch Canada - $1200 vet bill
$1200 vet bill
Received $190
back from Fetch
Even after vet clarified report that kitten did not have a pre existing condition. Have been paying $150 month for two kittens for 8 months
I feel like I was fleeced.
Sent in paperwork and police case number for missing cat. Discovered Fetch denied receipt. Have to resend information. How convenient they don't have the police case number. Was not reimbursed for advertising material nor $150 replacement costs for another cat.
A shocking experience. I will not be giving my money to Fetch ever again.
Fetch Canada - Starts off great and affordable but turns sour quick
Starts off great and affordable, then they begin to gouge you year over year, my premiums are now 4x the cost of what I started paying. They provide no justification or clarification or notice upon renewal, and offer increase rated midway throughout the policy year..
Fetch - ⭐ 1-Star Review
⭐ 1-Star Review – Don’t Trust Fetch Pet Insurance
I’ve had my dog on a Fetch Pet Insurance plan from the very beginning, faithfully paying them for years with the belief that they cared about her well-being. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
When I moved, they raised my premium—not because of anything I did, but because my new zip code had a higher rate of claims. Then, as my dog got older (as all pets do), they raised it again because she was now “higher risk.” So apparently, if your dog ages or you change your address, Fetch sees it as an opportunity to charge you more.
The final straw? When I finally used the insurance for a large vet bill—which is the whole reason to have it—they hit me with yet another increase, over 50%. After years of paying into this policy, they punished me for actually using it.
Fetch talks a big game about caring for pets, but their business model shows otherwise. They’ll take your money, hike your rates, and offer little in return when you actually need support. It's not about pet care—it's about profit.
Do yourself a favor: skip Fetch entirely and set up a savings account for vet expenses. At least then you’ll know your money is truly for your pet—not padding the bottom line of a company that doesn’t care.
Avoid Fetch Pet Insurance at all costs.
Update: I called to lower my monthly cost, and they refused to give me a quote in writing. Instead, they told me I had to write everything down myself—but that the new offer would be good for 24 hours.
I discussed the proposed price with my husband—maybe 15 minutes max—and by the time I called back, they had already closed. I figured it was fine since I was still well within the 24-hour window. I called the next day, but unsurprisingly, the price had gone up.
Granted, it was only a $6 increase, but it’s the principle. You told me the quote would hold for 24 hours, and then you went back on it. This is exactly why they avoid putting anything in writing—so they can shift the terms on you whenever they want.
Yes, I get that prices change—but in under 12 hours? Come on. It’s completely unfair and honestly feels deceptive. Worst experience. I hate that I’m stuck with them just to protect my dog. Never again.
Fetch - Does this company want to provide affordable insurance or sell a bunch of other stuff?
I bought my policy when my dog was a new puppy and the company was called Petplan. The initial monthly premium was reasonable and affordable. I am glad that I had insurance because my dog ended up having significant problems with skin allergies and his liver. Accordingly, my premiums have increased (currently $177 per month). Last week, I was notified that the monthly premium will be $324 (almost $4000 per year) to insure my dog for no more than $15,000 per year (70% reimbursement, $500 deductible).
How am I supposed to afford the medical bills when the insurance costs $4000? It was time to look for a different solution. Changing insurance companies means that I cannot get reimbursed for pre-existing problems, but we have the allergies and liver under control. I want coverage for things like major accidents and perhaps cancer, now that my dog is over 6 years old. I did quite a bit of reading and found companies that will provide unlimited coverage for him ($1000 deductible, 70% reimbursement) for $80 monthly.
It is time to say goodbye to Fetch. My interactions with the company have been good and bad. The direction the company is taking is one that does not interest me. I don't need a pharmacy, training, treats, etc. I need coverage for my dog in the event of a disaster (hit by a car, cancer). Fetch does not seem to write policies with unlimited coverage. Quite a few other companies do. Consider whether you want to pay for all these things that are not insurance or whether you want someone to back you when the unthinkable happens--and to back you with unlimited coverage that does not demand an astronomic premium.
Fetch - worst customer service
fetch has to have some of the worst customer service out of any company i’ve ever used. i’ve been using them for over 3 years now and everytime there’s a question or anything it is the worst customer service experience.
Fetch - Scam
Scam. Adopted a dog from the Humane society and signed up for coverage the same day. Had a vet visit the next day and the claim was denied bc my policy ended the day before the visit. How? No one to talk to. Don’t waste your money.
Fetch Canada - Stopped answering my emails
Stopped answering my emails, after rejecting my initial claim. Now charged me despite I have not updated my credit card information and didn't refund. Anywhere, but here. Total fraud.
