Progressive - Auto insurance recommendations - for someone with less than one year driving history in the US
I currently have Progressive but they just jacked up rates without even a "hey we are going to raise your premium from next month".
Erie Insurance is highly recommended but they seem to have strict criteria such as 3 year residency status (which is what an agent told me) hence am looking for other options.
I am looking for good customer service - does not give you the run around when you need them. Decent prices. I am not looking for the lowest rates but at the same time something that is fair. And transparent. I kinda feel cheated by Progressive who slyly raised the rates.
Am based in PA if that matters.
Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.
Progressive - Auto insurance sources
I have been driving for nearly 25 years. I have nearly a completely clean record but didn't drive for a while up until a couple years ago.
I am looking for any suggestions for sources to get the beat rates possible. Are there Any websites anyone knows of that are noteworthy? And trustworthy?
I love my agent but I can't keep paying progressive $2000 a year (discounted 200-300 every 6 months for paying in full) for basic state minimum coverage (no collision etc)
Progressive - Car accident in FL
Got into a crash in the state of FL, parked in a parking spot and had to realign myself to be straight. The parking spots are aligned at a 45 degree angle. I reversed just enough that my rear wheels were visible, there was no vehicle next to me parked that could’ve potentially been blocking the vision of my vehicle, I was in the travel lane and as I was about to shift into drive, a vehicle driving westbound hit me in my rear-end and spun me around facing the opposite direction of travel, the whole back end of my vehicle is smashed in and not drive-able. It’s a 15mph travel zone and safe to say nobody drives 15mph through this spot. The damage of my vehicle definitely looks like more like 25-30mph. Cops talked to me and other driver but in the written statement wrote that I was reversing and then got hit which wasn’t true. Also said that it’s a no-fault state and so she could’ve written me a ticket. I’ve only had the car for barely a month and paid $3k for it, I have progressive insurance at the state-minimum required. After the crash my back and shoulder hurt.
I just want to know what can I do, any help is really appreciated because I need a new car as soon as possible.

Progressive - Insurance Recomendations

Progressive - What's a Good Process for Getting Better Service and Cheaper Coverage?
We have home & auto bundled with the agency of the credit union that holds our mortgage loan. Every year, they wait until the last possible time to send our annual escrow payment over to the insurance broker. So much so, that we get warning letters from the mortgage holder that they will have to get insurance for us at whatever rate they can get it because we have not made our payment on time. I think the agent is getting more interest on our annual payment by letting it go 1 month past the due date. Is that a normal practice? We are never late with our monthly payments that combine mortgage and home insurance together. We have an outstanding credit rating (800+).
Am I wrong to be furious with the insurance agent/agency? What can we do? I am kinda afraid to look at other options. We trusted this agency/Progressive to take care of us.
On another note, our auto coverage has ballooned from our initial rate when we first switched to this agency. We are two retirees who drive about 3-5 miles a day locally for errands and to pick up and drop off a grandchild at preschool. We've had 1 total loss in 2022 on a 2003 car that was hit by a deer ($2,600). I checked with our 55 year old daughter. She pays less for her home & auto coverage with AAA. I want lower rates and better service, but I don't even know where to start. I'm afraid that I will make a mistake and lose everything by being undercovered or taken advantage of. I thought Progressive was the best. Help!
Progressive - Progressive cut my insurance premium in half after I called them
So I moved to the US from Europe over a year ago and have been using progressive since they insure people without a state license (I live in MA). I paid 1200 dollars every 6 months until just now when I spoke to my friend who also moved here at the same time and he paid way less on a much newer muscle car.
I call progressive and they do a reqoute and my policy gets cut in half and I now pay 640 every 6 months. I feel like they entered some wrong information the first time around - do I have any recourse for them to pay me back if they misentered information the first time around? Of course I accepted the payment and condition so maybe there's just nothing to do.
My friend who I compared policies with has the exact same coverage and started off at the much lower rate of \~600$.
Progressive - Prior Resident added to my policy, how to remove
For context, the state is Maryland
I live in a rental house and there is a prior resident named Stacy D. (Hiding her last name for privacy). I don’t know this person, other than occasionally getting some of her mail in our mailbox, which leads me to assume she is a prior resident at this unit.
This morning, i had new policy documents added to my Progressive policy. They added Stacy D. to my policy as an insured driver, and my rate increased from $140 a month to $580 a month. I also lost some of my discounts, like safe driving discount, because Stacy D. has apparently been in two at fault accidents in the past year.
Now I called progressive to remove this person from my policy, and their underwriting says that she can’t be removed unless i have proof of address showing that she doesn’t live here.
A few questions:
1. How do i prove that someone (a stranger) doesn’t live here? I don’t have any contact info for her or any way to get her current address. I don’t know this person or have any knowledge about her other than occasionally getting junk mail that is addressed for her.
2. Is there a possibility of me getting any discounts (such as safe driving discount) added back to my account, if I am able to remove this person?
3. Because i live in a rental unit, are there any other steps I can take to prevent prior residents from being added to my policy in the future?
Progressive - I own a 2006 Camry that is barely driven and paying $300 a month on car issuance.
Didn’t get my license till I was 18 and never have had an accident on my record. I’ve been with progressive for a few years now and my monthly payments have only gone down once like 20 bucks when I renewed last year. Got about 2 months left on this policy and I don’t think I should be paying almost 300 for an 06 Camry man would it be best to start trying to find a new provider once this policy is up? Also I’m 24 living in the dfw area
Progressive - car stolen, recovered and I want to keep it, lein holder wants it totaled
Hi
Last month I bought an older truck after having it 2 days it stolen from in front of my apartment in SE Portland OR. I filed a cliem, the car was recovered, YAY! Not so fast. The adjustor decided the car was not worth repair. Progressive called the leinholder and they decided to total the car. As a person that used to be a mechanic I wanted the car because I could fix it for less than 1500. When I called the lender I was told, "it is better for me and better for you". The lender is wanting me to pay the difference between the orig loan amount and what insurance pays.
My position is, the lender take what is offered, apply it to the balance and I continue to make the payments. He will get his money, I'll get the car and we are both happy. The issue is, I didnt have the chance to explain that to the lender (buy here pay here lot) the decision to total the car was made without speaking to me about it.
What are my rights?
Progressive - Why did insurance place %100 fault on me initially then change to %0
Long story short, I was driving home from work in my work truck F150. I had merged lanes to the left after my lane had ended. I was completely in the new lane. Fully stopped when I was rear-ended by a car.
Called the cops everyone was OK etc.. Both vehicles had a couple thousand dollars in damage. Luckily there was a witness who stopped and told the police that it looked like it was the other driver who rear-ended me.
Call my Insurance tell them the story they tell me I’m at 0% fault. And then about an hour later, they call me back, saying the other driver with no insurance and no license called and filed a claim on my commercial insurance. To my insurance said I was 100% at fault.
I proceeded to argue with the progressive insurance claims adjuster. He said that I was 100% at fault for changing lanes.
Fast forward when I get the police report. Police report clearly states she is at fault. She rear-ended me she received multiple citations, including improper lane change no license no insurance.
I sent the PDF of the police report to progressive and within minutes he called me saying I am at 0% fault.
My question is, why did I have to go through all of this thinking I was at fault and worry about rates going up?
already installed front back dashcam :)
