Progressive - Why does Progressive want me to pay more for no coverage.
Progressive - Progressive Snapshot
Hello,
I'm new to having car insurance, when I enrolled progressive the asked me to enroll in snapshot to get "an special discount" after signing up and realizing the app had to run always on the background I deactivated it. The thing is I've been getting emails from them saying reactivate it to keep your discount. Is it really worth it to have it activated? I've seen some people saying their rate actually went up by having it on.
Progressive - Progressive Diminished Value Claim
Progressive offered me $750 for diminished value based on costs they incurred for the claim. They did not even consider the actual cash value of the vehicle. For context, this is in Texas and the claim was made on the other parties insurance and I was found at no fault. The car is a brand new BMW M2 and the total repairs estimated around $4-$5k including labor. There’s definitely more than $750 of diminished value since this is a performance car and now has an incident on the car fax.
According to the representative, they are not willing to offer more even if I get an estimate of the actual cash value. Do I have any options outside of just accepting what I was given?
Progressive - Insurance broker misunderstood Progressive auto quote, telling me a different price, which Progressive deemed ineligible
Hi guys,
I am a foreigner who arrived to the US last year due to work. I had auto insurance for 4-5 months and wanted to change and see if I could get something cheaper.
In March I finally found one who could half my monthly insurance cost which we settled the same day.
The broker confirmed all details that I am a foreigner, with an international license, 7 years driving experience OUTSIDE the US.
2 weeks ago, Progressive sends me an e-mail that a automatic payment will be made in April of $1107. I had no clue what this was, as the broker told me the cost would be $106 monthly.
I immediately call Progressive and they inform med that the broker most likely inserted incorrect information or misunderstood how to fill out their quoting system. They also tell me, that they send me physical mail to my address that the insurance was not eligible and the policy was updated to reflect my correct details. But I am yet to receive this mail, which according to them was sent the day after I approved the quote I was sent.
What concerns me a lot…
- Why did Progressive not send anything in regards to this change?
- only my State ID was given to the broker and as I understand with my prior insurance company, they require my international- and foreign driver’s license to insure me
- can they update it without me confirming/agreeing to this change?
I have called and mailed the broker which is yet to answer and pending their response.
What do you do, in this case?

Progressive - Progressive Home Owners insurance Questions
Question, we filed a claim on our house in 2023 due to damage from a wind storm. There was damage to the siding on one side. It was repaired but the siding didn't match and my state has a matching clause. Progressive paid a supplement amount to have the whole house sided based on an estimate from our contractor and then told us basically that's it, we are done you don't have to show proof of repair like we are done. The contractor we had then said that wasn't enough to cover what he needed to complete the job, so we paid him for the repairs he completed and made sure everything was good, we then utilized the balance of the left over insurance to make some updates/ repairs to our property since the amount wasn't enough to finish the full siding of our house. Fast forward to a month ago we had a major hailstorm and it obliterated our siding, roof, gutters, etc and progressive is saying they will not replace the siding again since they paid out a claim previously to do a full siding.
Are they able to do that? I can't find anything in my insurance contract that says we had to utilize that money for repairs ok that specific item and the repairs to the siding were done they just didn't match our siding completely.
Progressive - Gap + Auto Insurance, Totaled Car
So the story goes: My friend in Texas totaled his car by hitting a mailbox. He has Gap insurance from the dealership, and auto insurance from progressive.
Auto insurance agent told him they're going to pay the dealership instead of him.
Can friend demand direct payment to himself, as the policyholder? Can his insurance just send the check somewhere else like that?
The gap insurance should handle everything on the dealership side, so I don't know why his insurance company would be giving the dealership anything.
Progressive - Progressive (ASI) Non-Renewal for Wildfire Risk
Hello,
I'm in Oregon and hoping to get some insight on receiving a non-renewal notice on my homeowners insurance from Progressive due to a wildfire risk score of 21 (out of 50). How is the wildfire risk score calculated? A wildfire risk map and assessment released by Oregon State University show my property as being in the low risk category, so receiving this notice of non-renewal is a little confusing.
Thank you for any insight you can provide.
Progressive - Work Truck on freeway had a rock from it’s trailer hit my windshield (Oregon)
Was driving on the freeway and a ~2 inch rock came out of their un-tarped trailer and hit my windshield at about 65 mph. They did not have a rear license plate visible. Front registration plate was orange and I believe it to be an Oregon apportioned truck plate. I was not able to get a clear picture of their plate.
I spoke to our state police and they gave me a case number for insurance purposes. Went to file a claim with Progressive and it turns out my deductible ($500) is more than replacing the windshield ($388) so they just recommend I pay for it without insurance.
Shouldn’t the other truck’s insurance be paying for this?? I don’t know what to do other than pay for the replacement out of pocket and hope to make contact with the other party’s insurance after the fact.
He wouldn’t stop as I tried to get his attention but I was able to take some pictures… on the side of the rear trailer is a logo for “The Shaw Group” and some sort of identifying number (T1210xx… censored for this post).
Progressive - My golf cart hit my house, but insurance won’t cover the property damage.
Today my 3 year old hit the gas pedal on the golf cart and ran it into my other kids electric scooters/ the wall in my garage. I hopped off to grab stuff out of the back “trunk” type thing and next thing I know it’s gone forward and hit the house. Thankfully she was okay. She was scared, I was scared. We had a good cry. I have insurance on my golf cart. I called them up and they said after the deductible, the repairs to the golf cart would be covered but the damage to my other property (my home, my car, the electric bikes/scooters, my built in shelves and other random smaller items) will not be covered because I own those items. They said had it hit someone else’s scooters/house/car that would cover it.
When I got the golf cart, I called my insurance agent so I could add it to my homeowners policy and she said it was cheaper to have a separate policy for just the golf cart and to go through progressive. So this is what I did. I called my insurance company after hearing this news from progressive, and they said they could cover it under our homeowners policy- but that we would have to pay that deductible too. It wouldn’t be worth it to pay both deductibles. I am just surprised that progressive isn’t covering any of the personal property damage. Is this a normal thing?
Progressive - Do I need a Lawyer to get payment from an uninsured driver?
Location: Oklahoma
Long story kind of short,
I was in a car accident on Oct.4th, and the other party was at fault. At the scene they acknowledged they were at fault and their insurance looked up to date. At the moment, I felt that calling the police for a report was not worth the hassle, a mistake I know now. While at the scene the driver was on the phone with their mother and told them they were on their phone at the time of the accident, which she later denies. Additionally the drivers mother wanted to speak to me on the phone and was very adamant not to go through insurance and that they wanted to pay out of pocket, which I refused, I didn't think much of this comment in the moment but is important later.
I filed a claim with the insurance they provided and a few days later they told me they were not insured at the time of the accenet. My father reached out to the drivers father as he is the person on the title of the vehicle, and this is when we found out the drivers father is the Chief of Police for a small town bordering my city where the crash occurred which is in the same county. At this point we were given updated insurance from the driver and I made the claim with their insurance, which was denied as they were denying what happened at the crash. Some context to add to this is that this was a new driver and had their license for only about a month and were 16 and were heading to their first day of work at their new job.
I filled with my insurance who sent it to arbitration, and it was radio silence for 4 months and they would not even return my calls, thanks Progressive. I called today and told them I need an update today, and the new rep I got was amazing and told me everything I needed to know and they should have told me months ago.
Arbitration determined the other party was at fault, which was obvious from the damage, and they were not insured at the time of the crash. So it turns out they tried to buy insurance right after the crash and did not tell anyone.
Progressive wants to send them to collections to get some of my deductible back, but I would like to get my full deductible and loss of value (at the minimum). So my question is is small claims court enough for the $2k deductible and $2k loss of value, and do I need a lawyer? I have already waited 6 months, and while if I need a Lawyer I want them to get paid, but I feel like I shouldn't have to pay legal fees for this especially due to the criminal behaviour on their part.
