Progressive - Progressive misled me to believe if I totaled my car they’d negotiate with the leinholder to lower the balance I’m underwater on
Had collision (not gap) .
Lots of body damage, but totally drivable.
Quoted at $1500 in repairs (after deductible),
The car is an EV and I’ve wanted to trade it for a gas car, but I owe way way more than it’s worth so haven’t.
The claims adjuster told me repeatedly on the phone they’d negotiate with the lienholder if I had their tow truck come and pick it up and progressive could total it so obviously I happily agreed.
Claims adjuster gets back to me, says they’ll send my leinholder 3k after my deductible (this is a fair value of the car) and I’ll still be responsible for the remainder of the balance.
The remaining balance is 9K. (I know, I know..)
I asked what happened to negotiating, he just gaslighted me that that’s not his job and he said he’d *maybe* negotiate.
So I ask for my car back, he said, no I can’t have my car back. How is that possible?
I haven’t signed anything yet, but I don’t get why they pressured me to agree to paying out my lienholder 3k vs 1500 payout to me (after deductible)
I’ll be left with no car and 9K in debt? How can that be legal? Help?
Edit : by asking for my car back I meant , can I have my car back and then they send me the original check for the body damage repairs
Progressive - 22 y /f looking for full coverage Auto insurance in Michigan
I'm looking to insure a 2018 Chevy Cruze, full coverage. Was quoted $389 by progressive, and that's more than I can afford monthly. Looking for recommendations on insurance companies that might have cheaper/mor affordable rates
Progressive Insurance - Progressive Insurance Question
Hey everyone,
I had a question regarding auto insurance with Progressive. They sent me a memo via email and asked me to call them about folks under the same roof as me not under my insurance. I called them and explained that I declined coverage for all my family members under my roof, for the have their own insurance. They said I still need to "pay" to have them declined under my coverage. I asked the girl over the phone why I need to pay to decline them coverage on my policy. She said it's in case they're passengers.
So let me get this straight, they want me to pay $93+ to state all my parents and siblings are declined on my policy? Even though NO ONE drives my vehicle. Is this legal? They said they're mailing me a document via mail for me to sign and get back to them to continue coverage.
Progressive - Should I appeal an at-fault accident determination?
Hey everyone, looking for some advice. Back on February 6th, I got into an accident when the roads were icy, and sleet was coming down. I was driving under the speed limit, but my car swerved and I stupidly slammed the breaks (didn’t know that was literally the no.1 no no) and ended up swerving into a different land and a truck ended up hitting me on the passenger back side. The car was totaled.
Fast forward to now—I just got a notice from progressive saying I was found at fault. They included a form where I can contest it, but it costs $50 to do so. The form asks me to describe what happened, including the weather conditions. There was a decent gap between when I stopped swerving and when the truck hit me, so I feel like I might have somewhat of a case?
But even then, is it even worth sending the $50, or is it just a formality with no real chance of overturning their decision? At the scene, the police told me the other guy had a dash cam, and I don’t have any other proof that I wouldn’t be at fault. Also, would this at-fault ruling impact my insurance premiums down the line? Appreciate any insight!
Progressive - Looking for some advice or at least what I can expect dealing with 2 accidents before the 1st is fixed.
So the title basically sums it up.
I had I guy scrape the paint off the driver side front fender and a little bit off the side around the wheel well at a gas station about 4:30 am after I got off work.
I got their insurance info and pictures of the damage, ID, and insurance info (Progressive).
Someone gave me their number to act as a witness and it's on the video at the gas station, and the gas station employees know me from stopping by after work and said they'd act as witness too, so I didn't think it was worth calling the cops over.
The problem is, is that Progressive wanted me to use their website/app to take pictures of the car and then a video of the car (inside too for some reason). Honestly it seemed like a bit of a hassle. Any other time I've had something like that happen I've just had to take it to a shop and it gets fixed.
The car was in perfect condition went it happened, which they asked about when I was filling the initial claim. Unfortunately I put it off for a a couple weeks since my working nights made it so it was dark when I got home and the sun was going down when I got up to leave for work (this was about a month ago when we had less daylight), and off course I procrastinated like I shouldn't have since the car was fine to drive.
Then, about 2 weeks later, I was driving home after work and was in this stretch of the highway that is really dark when something hit my car HARD. I didn't know what it was, it was just some black blur that I didn't have enough time to dodge. I pulled over really quick cause I was dragging something and I didn't know what condition my car was in. Turns out I was dragging a chunk of my fender that was broken off.
Luckily my car was drivable, but I had a hole about a foot in diameter taken out of the front fender closer to the passenger side of the car.
I walked back up the highway and it turns out the semi I was behind shredded a tire and it just ripped threw my car. I've seen people hit by those before and it's surprising how much damage they can do. I honestly thought I'd have more damage from the sound of it and from the feel of the impact.
Now my problem is both that I didn't get the semi truck's info so I can't have them pay for that damage, and because it happened before I made the video I now have damage to the same piece of the car that was mainly damaged by the the guy at the gas station.
So I've just been stressing out about how to deal with it, not knowing how I should go about handling this now that it's gotten complicated. I swear, I go years without trouble then get hit back to back.
So when looking online to help figure out what to do, I found some similar stories on Reddit while trying to navigate this, but none that fit me specifically. So I'm hoping I could get some advice on how to best deal with this, or at least someone that can let me know what to expect.
Sorry for the length of post, and I appreciate any help!
Progressive - Progressive - what counts as permissive use?
My boyfriend was driving my car when it was hit from behind. Car A hit Car B that then hit me, then Car A fled the scene. My boyfriend does not live with me and he doesn't regularly drive my car. We did a road trip 2 years ago, where he did drive my car a lot, so he told the insurance he drove it 20 times in the past two years.
Now they're saying I have to add him to my policy because he's a regular user of the vehicle. I can exclude him from the policy for less money. Is there any way that I can insist he doesn't regularly use the car besides what I've already said? In the recorded interview, he said that, in a given month, he doesn't use it. Could they say that, because he's a regular user, they will reject the claim, even if I do pay to exclude him from the policy or add him to the policy retroactively?
Progressive - Progressive is canceling my policy because I filed a claim within the 1st 60 days of the 180 day policy. Is this normal?
If this is normal I'm not going to fight it, just stupid because I had NEVER been in an accident before and mine would've been minor had it not damaged my front radar sensor.
Progressive - "Progressive" filed accident claim without consent, concerned about insurance rate impact
Seeking advice. I had an accident very recently where the other car hit my car while doing improper lane change. Even the police said by seeing the dash cam video of my car that the other person was at fault, I called my insurance company in order to report the accident but they filed it as a claim without confirming with me first. Even though I told them I don't want to use my collision coverage as the accident was not my fault, they still filed a claim without confirming with me first. The claim was closed next day without any pay as they suggested to contact the other person's insurance because I am not at fault. Now I am afraid that this claim will increase my insurance rate from now on, what should I do now? How much it might increase? Is there any way to remove it from the record? Any kind of suggestions will be appreciated.
Progressive - Am i getting quoted too much? 484$ a month for minimum liability coverage
Hi! I'm 19 and I recently bought a car and got my license. I called up progressive for car insurance since most of my family is with them and they said that I would have to pay around 484$ a month for minimum liability coverage. This surprised me because the first time my siblings enrolled with them they paid a little over 200$ and that wasn't too long ago. My car isn't new either, it's a 2007 Honda Pilot. If anyone knows any better insurance companies who aren't as expensive please let me know!
Progressive - Advice request: california car insurance ; cheapest option?
