Filing a claim for my pet is worse than filing a claim than for myself, the paper work, scanning and emailing. Then there is the deductibles, each illnessee has its own amount and office visits are not covered.

Trupanion replies quickly when invoices are submitted. I wish they covered more of the vet costs though. Our dog is old and having trouble with a corneal ulcer. Now seeing a specialist and the cost is high. Not even 50% of it is covered which isn't great especially when my monthly cost for the insurance keeps going up.

My premium keeps going up and up!! Almost double from 6 years ago. Just filed a claim and not much was paid starting to think its time to cancel your insurance

Negatives include: that you raise my rates every opportunity you get. You charge my full deductible for every single bump that's removed from my dog - claiming they're different types of bumps. Outrageous. A mass removal is a mass removal and should be categorized as such. While I'm grateful to get some money back on some claims (not all), I question whether paying the monthly rate plus my deductible plus getting zero reimbursement for exams, medicine, or taxes is really worth it.

Even tho the vet techs know the system to connect with you , the steps seem never ending. I've given up on email or iPhone for submitting invoices, just mail them.

I met my deductible but had to pay for most of the charges after that and have more expense coming. At this point I am thinking it is not worth continuing.

I have been with Trupanion for 6 years. All they do is keep raising prices and cover literally nothing. Exams, medication, surgeries, they do not cover any of it. I am not sure what they even cover at this point it keeps changing. My two cats are going up in price to be covered by $30 and $25 which is $81 and $79 and they charge my dog at $94. It’s not worth it and they are horrible to long time customers. Buyer beware!

Trupanion increased monthly rates on top of having an insane deductible. I used to recommend Trupanion to all of my friends and family, and we even used it for the vet clinic I worked for the past 7 years. Since being switched from a group plan, with my previous employer, to a personal plan. The benefits are not worth it at all, having me pay even more with no coverage per each new diagnostic. I have a 13 year old Brittany named Buck and it has become increasingly hard to get anything covered. Luckily my vets are very understanding and will even go so much as to take something off the bill that Trupanion isn't going to cover. I recommend that everyone look elsewhere for pet insurance. It is not worth it anymore and seems to be a racket.

I’ve had Trupanion for about a year and a half, paying a high monthly premium to make sure my dog would be covered in case of emergencies. Unfortunately, when we needed them most, they completely let us down. My dog recently had to undergo emergency surgery to remove bladder stones. It was a stressful, heartbreaking situation, and the vet bill came to over $3,000. I filed the claim with Trupanion, expecting that this is exactly the type of serious, urgent medical issue pet insurance is supposed to help with. To my shock, they rejected the claim outright and provided no coverage at all. Not only was this financially devastating, but it also felt like a betrayal after faithfully paying into their plan for so long. When you’re paying top dollar every month, you expect peace of mind and support in emergencies—not excuses and denials. I would strongly caution other pet owners to think twice before trusting Trupanion. In my experience, they are not there for you when you and your pet truly need them.
