Embrace Pet Insurance - Outrageous raise in rates
They raised my rates by something like $75 after being with them for only two years. I was already paying 180 something a month and I'm already using a high deductible with a low percent return (70%) to keep the costs down. Yes I've had claims, but nobody raises anybody's insurance by that much. I've never even had my car insurance go up by more than about $30 and this is simply pet insurance. They're not paying out thousands and thousands of dollars for every incident like a car insurance company and yet they have rates equivalent to car insurance which is insane. They are just like any other insurance company -- out to rip you off. They did a terrible job with our medical history so that something idiotic like "occasionally eats a dead animal" is somehow a pre-existing condition even though I explained to them it only happened once when she was an infant. That's the most ridiculous pre-existing condition I've ever heard of. And then after they had made a full assessment of pre-existing conditions from her medical records, her first claim was denied because they went back AGAIN and searched even harder to find a reason to deny it. All of a sudden now her arthritis isn't covered even though she didn't develop it until after I started working with these morons. They are cheats and they are liars and they have terrible customer service.
Embrace Pet Insurance - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I called because I am nervous about pet insurance. The guy said "im not going to answer all these questions for you because you will know once you file a claim". I said I am really nervous about buying and want to know what will be covered etc. before paying. He just kept asking for my method of payment and said "Listen you wont know what is actually covered until you submit a claim and its up to who is reviewing whether they deem it covered or not so lets just get you signed up so we can begin coverage today. What method of payment are we using". Like excuse me??? so you want me to just sign up and its basically just a guess at the end when I submit a claim whether its going to be covered or not. Yes, I can read what is put online but I called for a reason. I wanted to speak to a representative of the company so I could feel more secure and get more clarity. I did not call just so you can get my credit card info, I would have simply done that online. I was so set to buy embrace pet insurance too! I just wanted to feel like I understood the coverage completely so when I do file a claim in the future I am not blindsided. All the person did was read exact what was on the online portion then say "I wont know until I file a claim in the future if its actually going to be covered or not". How can anyone feel safe giving their money to an insurance company who speaks to them like that???? Oh I then asked him to transfer me to another person and instead of transferring me he just put me on hold forever. I hope he gets fired or has to deal with someone who treats him the same way when he is asked for clarity from another company.
Embrace Pet Insurance - If I could give it a zero I would
If I could give it a zero I would. Every time I turned in a claim they denied me. Said it was preexisting. But my pet’s condition was curable & was not prexziting

Embrace Pet Insurance - claim
why is it required to leave a review before submitting my claim?
Embrace Pet Insurance - I've been with Embrace for about 5…
I've been with Embrace for about 5 years now to insure my 2 cats, and at first it was great. Submitting claims is easy with a quick turn around time for reimbursement. But things changed over the years as one of my cats started getting older. At this point I am most likely going to have to cancel because their prices tripled. Insuring your cats health should not cost as much as a ridiculous monthly car payment and it might just make more sense pocketing that amount and saving it to pay out of pocket for any future visits. If you have any cats that are getting older with some on-going medical issues, don't be surprised if you end up paying $5000+ a year for Embrace. There needs to be some sort of laws in place for these insurance companies to prevent them from 3x-4x'ing their prices with nothing you can do about it.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Filing the claim was easy & fast; limited reimbursement not helpful
Filing the claim was easy & fast. Our account now has upper limit for reimbursement. This claim was for >$9,000 to cover tests that diagnosed Chumley with terminal pancreatic cancer. I believe Embrace will reimburse us the balance of his available coverage, about $400. We will have to rethink renewing our Embrace Insurance.

Embrace Pet Insurance - We adopted our dog on March 21
We adopted our dog on March 21. Since then we have paid almost $700 in monthly payments and the $250 deductible. This week, we received an email saying that a claims adjuster felt it might be "a good idea" to review Wilda's vet files. Lo and behold, he or she found two "pre-existing conditions." (I will take this up with our vet tomorrow or on the weekend.) Why did it take almost four months for Embrace to review files it got soon after we adopted Wilda Lilly? And after we had paid so much money? Now we are told that she will not receive possibly needed services... This is truly unprofessional. I am probably going to write to Embrace's CEO--as well as advising the medical director of our vet clinic to urge her staff of eight (going up when the clinic expands) to not recommend Embrace. My neighbor's dog is covered by TruPanion and has not experienced any issues like these...
Embrace Pet Insurance - Was not provided appeal method when I first asked
WhIle Embrace in general has been a decent insurance, a recent interaction has lowered my opinion. I was disputing the lack of coverage for a medical test. It was argued that the test was not covered due to pre-existing. However, the test in question can be used for several conditions, not just the one they are not covering. The agent continued to argue with me that it was not covered because of the pre-existing condition. I even asked if it would help if my vet provided more details as to why the test was run. The agent just continued to argue with me. Several emails later, he FINALLY offered a way to appeal. That offer should have been made when I first asked about providing additional information. Very poor interaction and bad customer service. Not what I have come to expect for Embrace.
