Figo - It’s a scam - stay away
Stay away from this “service” it’s more of a scam than anything. They do everything in their power not to pay and even for the most obvious issues. Delay, delay, then deny, deny. Makes United Healthcare look like a good option.
Figo - Multiple issues with Figo
Multiple issues with Figo. My claim for one of my dogs was denied as Figo claimed it was an existing condition although my dog had never had a blood blister/scab on the middle of his back. A cyst was found under the scab. No where in his medical history did he have a blood blister/scab on the middle of his back with cyst.
Furthermore, Figo has made it very difficult to get my claims paid out. Claims paid in the past were easier to get paid out than recent claims with the same and/or less documentation provided. It appears Figo doesn't like to pay claims once they have paid a large amount of money associated with claims.
Figo - High Premiums & Crazy Hike at Renewal
High Premiums & Crazy Hike at Renewal
Figo increased my premiums by 40% and 31%. Now over $310/mo for two healthy dogs.
I have been with Figo since 2021. I renewed my policies for a new zip code in March 2025 for a 5yr 2mo old dog and a 7yr 3mo dog. The monthly premiums increased less than $10 per policy due to a new zipcode to $118/mo and $114/mo for each dog respectively ($232/mo total). That’s fine. However, upon autorenewal in May 2025 (only 2 months later) Figo is now increasing the premiums to $165 and $149 per month citing age, breed, and zip code. There was no change in zipcode since the March renewal, no change in breed (obviously), so the only cited reason by Figo that did actually change is age... By two months! How on earth do they justify a 40% and 31% increase in cost for a 2 month increase in age!?
These are two healthy dogs / breeds with no persistent health issues and who are not particularly old. I understand Figo has the right to increase premiums by whatever amount they desire, however their cited reason does not make sense to me.
Only reason they get two stars and not one is because they paid claims when I submitted and did not scam me. However, we will be cancelling because nearly $4,000 a year is absurd and I am afraid of how much they will jack up the price next time if we stay.
Honestly, the insurance is probably not worth it in my opinion. Even though I have filed claims I am probably still in the red given the premiums I have paid since 2021. In my opinion the only benefit is you can essentially spread the cost of a surprise / emergency vet bill over time but you are absolutely paying for that privilege. If you can afford an emergency vet bill once in a blue moon, I advise skipping the insurance.
Figo - Claims denial is their policy
Conditions like bacterial infection of cats can happen over time. Figo straight up denied claims for simple things as pre-existing conditions. Not worth keeping the insurance.
The good thing was that cancellation was easy.
Figo - Terrible service by adjuster’s that…
Terrible service by adjuster’s that don’t know what tgey are doing. My dogs get allergy shots every month one goes through and the other one by another adjusters needs more information (dumb) a shot.
Get better help and managers never call back.
Figo - This company discourages claims
This company discourages claims. Does not pay claims. They want six months of records from your veterinarian even when your pet is not yet six months old! How do you manage that? My veterinarians are busy enough without Figo bothering them, for goodness sake!
Figo - The inception of the policy was anything but smooth
This policy was supposedly a VIP policy for costco members. They could not correct the address. Two phone calls placed to customer service resulted in wait times for over 8 minutes each. Hold times for info another 10 plus minutes. Received several emails asking for records and a waiver that would cost money for an office visit. This is probably the worst member deal at Costco. I have cancelled this policy by day 5. The representative would not refund the $15 enrollment fee. I could only imagine how awful the service would be after the 30 day mark. Shop around.
Figo - TOTAL SCAM- USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY
TOTAL SCAM! Horrible service- look elsewhere. They rarely pay out on claims, if they do its a very small amount and oftentimes find reasons to not count payments towards your deductible. My dog has IVDD and this insurance policy (Secured when he was a puppy long before any problems) has been next to useless. I have wasted thousands paying on this policy monthly that they have DOUBLED since he started having medical issues.
Also, I work in the field of online reputation and it's so blatantly obvious which reviews on this site are "fed" i.e, they specifically invite the few who have good experiences via email to write a review. Don't trust those, and notice how they only reply to /address positive reviews.
Figo - Declaration not reimbursed - inadequate registration procedure
My claim for the treatment of a bladder infection of our cat was not reimbursed by Figo, referring to a comment in his file that, according to me and our vet, has no causal link with bladder infection whatsoever. Our cat developed a bladder infection 5 weeks after taking out the insurance, so in essence Figo's suggestion is that I would purposefully have registered our cat while he already had a bladder infection, and then let him walk around with it for 1½ months, just to be able to declare the invoice? What an annoying and also disrespectful insinuation.....
It now appears that our cat is not insured for a whole series of conditions as a result. If I had known this in advance, I would never have insured my cat with Figo. I therefore believe that Figo's registration procedure is seriously inadequate and places a disproportionate amount of responsibility on the policyholder. I registered a 100% healthy animal in good faith, and Figo is looking for a reason in the file to avoid a claim. It would be fairer for Figo to give a person who applies the claim the option to have the file reviewed, so that any exclusions are clear in advance. Because of this omission, I am now paying a year's premium for a cat that is barely insured.
Even after filing a formal complaint, Figo does not say a word about the inadequate registration procedure and does not move an inch towards a lenient treatment. Very disappointing! My advice is therefore to have Figo assess the file of an older animal with a file at the vet first, to avoid any nasty surprises later on.
Figo - Not a trust worthy insurer of your furry friend
I have been with Figo Pet Insurance 5 months. The dog was taken to an emergency vet center on a Sunday when vomiting started after 2 days of liquid diarrhea and refusal to eat. He was admitted to their ICU and was severely dehydrated. The staff was able to stabilize his condition but was not able to determine the cause of his problem. The bill was $7838.58.
The claim was submitted after supplying a very long list of accompanying documents including a copy of the complete file and doctor’s notes from the emergency center as well as the records and past history from his normal vet. Ten days later they rejected the claim as "pre-existing conditions". The ICU vet indicated in documents that they could not determine the cause with any degree of certainty or assurance.
The dog was put to sleep a week after leaving the ICU. It took Figo 10 days to come up with pre-existing conditions. My advice is to look harder and elsewhere if you are searching for a trust worthy pet insurer. Take a moment to read the insincere and duplicate Figo responses to the 1 star reviews if you need help deciding.
