Figo - A waste of time and money
A waste of time, money and effort to signup and deal with this company.
The information you receive when signing up is misleading at best.
Regardless of how many riders you will add to the basic policy such as wellness plus, alternative, rehabilitation etc figo will find a way to reject your claim.
Figo - Had to contact multiple times
When my pup contracted a respiratory infection, Figo dragged their feet and told me conflicting information. I kept getting emails that I did not have the required documentation yet when I would chat online with a representative I was told I did. The amount of documentation required was insane as well. I uploaded approximately eight different medical documents just for one single visit. I had to keep calling my Vet and asking for more documentation. at this point, my claim has not even been processed, and Figo gives a 10 day window to provide supporting documentation before closing the claim. I have one day left. I think they are trying to stall me until the window closes. do not recommend the monthly price they offered was too good to be true.
Figo - Misleading and expensive
Misleading and expensive. I had signed up for my kitten's pet insurance. I have the wellness basic plan and have spent about $1,200 during 2 visits. I've received $105 back in total as that is the MAX I can get for vaccines and other procedures. To make it worse, I have a $500 deductible. ZERO DOLLARS WENT TOWARDS MY DEDUCTIBLE. I will be cancelling
Figo - Misguided Plans so you're left with the bill.
Figo has a lot of language to make you think you're getting coverage where you're not. Their plans are designed to confuse you so you're left with the bill at the end of the day. When attempting to understand my coverage policies, I was hung up on, and then when I called back, I was rerouted multiple times.

Figo - My experience with Figo
I made my first claim through Figo and wanted to describe the process for those that might find it helpful.
**Overall Thoughts**
Overall, I was pleased with my Figo experience and intend to renew my policy.
Figo covered approximately what I expected it to cover based on my understanding of the policy document.
I submitted three claims in total, one for each of the invoices I received from my vet. My claims were processed and paid in less than 1 week. The process of submitting my claims was straightforward and involved uploading invoices to the PetCloud mobile app.
I was slightly surprised by the fact that out of pocket expenses reduced my deductible only up to my policy's reimbursement rate. For example, the first $100 in covered costs reduced my deductible by $90. This is different from my experience with human health insurance where 100% of out of pocket expenses count towards to the deductible, regardless of what your coinsurance rate is.
**Policy**
I pay a $477 annual premium with the Costco discount. My deductible is $1,500 with a 90% reimbursement rate and unlimited annual coverage. My dog is 3 years old and unspayed. The policy includes rehabilitation but not Vet Exam Fees, Extra Care Pack and Wellness - Plus. My policy has been active for just under 2 years.
**Illness**
My dog had bloody diarrhea, loss of appetite and lethargy on and off over the course of 2 weeks. Total treatment costs, including vet prescribed food totaled $2,540.35 of which Figo covered $317.82. The cause of her illness was never identified.
**First vet visit**
At my dog's initial vet visit, our vet did an exam ($130), prescribed my dog Metronidazole ($26) and tested my dog's stool for parasites ($86). Our vet also prescribed Trazodone ($20) to help with my dog's anxiety at subsequent vet visits. The Figo policy covered the Metronidazole and the Trazodone, but not the vet exam or the parasite test. I was slightly surprised that parasite test was not covered. The denial reason was "Costs or fees for treatments or preventative treatments for parasites or conditions related to parasites unless there is no preventive medication for the parasite..."
Total charges: $262.10
Covered by policy: $46.10
Remaining deductible: $1,500 - (.9 \* 46.1) = $1,458.51
**Second vet visit**
At my dog's second vet visit, our vet did another exam ($130), ordered blood work ($570) and recommended that my dog be hospitalized overnight for IV fluids and observation ($1,388). The vet also prescribed a 5 day course of Metronidazole ($20) and Pepcid ($20). Again, Figo did not cover the vet exam, but did cover everything else, save a $24 "medical waste" charge that was part of the hospital stay.
Total charges: $2,128
Covered by policy: $1,973.70
Remaining deductible: $0
Paid by Figo: Covered costs - Remaining deductible = (.9 \* $1,973.70) - $1,458.51 = $317.82
**Prescription Food**
The vet prescribed specialized GI food for my dog to eat after her release from the hospital ($150). I did not expect for Figo to cover this expense, as the policy document states that food is not covered. I submitted the claim anyway, on the off chance that it might be considered treatment for her illness. Figo denied the claim with the reason reason: "The policy does not provide coverage for food unless included in the Office Visit and Exam Fees Rider prescribed as the sole Treatment for an Illness"
Figo - Avoid Figo
Terrible company. Find any excuse, especially bogus "pre-existing conditions" to avoid any reimbursement. Avoid and look elsewhere unless you want to waste time on the phone appealing denials to no avail.
Figo - Is making a switch from Figo worth it at this point?
I have a six-year-old lab mix (50 lbs) who is in good health, but a couple months ago, she was limping a little bit and had an x-ray in which the vet I saw said there was some minor flattening of one of her hip joints. I have a family member who is a vet in another state, and she said from the scan she saw, there was nothing worth noting or treating and she seemed to be in perfect health for her age. She’s also stopped limping entirely about a week or so after that appointment.
However, I know that the vet we saw does have it in her chart. I tried to file a claim on this, but as with literally every other claim I have ever made (nothing serious or crazy expensive so I let it go), it was denied. I have had Figo since I got her at 1.5 yo (rescue), but the same plan that I still have since I signed up shortly after adopting her started at about $25 a month, and now is creeping up to almost $125. My annual renewal date is mid February, so I have been thinking about making the switch.
However, I am wondering if because of this last visit, if she were to develop hip dysplasia later in life, they would use that as an excuse not to cover anything. Barring any accidents or random injuries, it doesn’t seem at this point that anything else is concerning or showing signs of future problems at this point. She’s an inside dog and has always been up-to-date on her shot and flea, tick, and heartworm meds. The vet did bloodwork when I took her in for x-rays, and everything came back crystal clear, as it has any other time she has had blood work done.
I’ve just become increasingly frustrated with Figo given the price hikes every year and their refusal to accept anything. I feel like I’m wasting my money, but don’t want to get screwed over later on if a new company sees it a pre-existing condition. But I’m also too anxious to not have any insurance at all.
Anyone have experiences similar to this? Any advice? Do I just tough it out and keep shelling out the cash just in case? I know I should have probably switched years ago, but here we are.
Figo - Figo renewal going up 40% this year?
Is anybody else's Figo insurance going up 40% in 2025? My rate is going from $425/yr to $700/yr. I reached out to Figo and they blamed inflation of all things, saying nothing could be done about the price. I was told Figo was one of the better companies by all my pet owner friends & family, but they have never covered a claim and at these rates it would be cheaper for me to just put aside $50/mo. Really frustrated and looking for advice.
FIGO - FIGO Costco pet insurance
FIGO Costco pet insurance. I’ve been paying $133 a month for a healthy dog. They literally only pay $50 a year toward vaccinations. I went ahead and cancelled. I just can’t justify such poor assistance for these expensive vaccinations. His vaccinations and annual checkup is $300. I am considering setting up a savings account dedicated for my dog. I should have read the fine print.
