MetLife - Monthly premium almost doubled!
Monthly premium went from $180 a month, to $263 a month.
MetLife - The price keeps going up every year
The price keeps going up every year. I pay more for my dogs insurance than I pay for my own health insurance. Not sure I will continue.
MetLife - Review and payment takes too long!!!
Review and payment takes too long!!!
MetLife - you take too long to review
you take too long to review your claims, you have more than doubled your cost in less than 3 years.
MetLife - Slow and frustrating. Go for HealthyPaws
When I adopted my dog (a puppy) from a shelter they used a site that in the process offered this pet insurance that would kick in at midnight after you adopt your dog. Not metlife's fault but you didn't get to choose much or read much about the coverage other than you can buy more that would cover more day to day stuff which I did not (and still don't) care about. It did not though state that there is a $5,000 per year cap, just that it'd be a $250/yr deductible and 90% reimbursement which I do fault them for.
What was confusing then was it seemed like you are locked in for a year. I called and the rep said no you can cancel any time even if you make a claim. I am still not certain what will happen when I cancel because you have to call to cancel, you can not cancel online like you can with other insurers. I have HealthyPaws for my other dog but that takes 15 days before you can make your first claim which is why I went with this temporarily.
The next issue is many people don't keep the shelter's dog name for a puppy. You can't update your dogs name, you can give them a nickname so I put that down before any claim. Clearly that wasn't enough for Metlife to understand that the claims are for my dog.
The other issue is their claims process is extremely slow. 3 to 5 days to just review your claim then an additional 10 plus to process it. After a 10 days I got my claim rejected. They wanted an SOAP which I submitted (this is your medical history) but they also wanted invoices...which is also what I submitted. Everything is line itemed and the same invoices I've submitted to HealthyPaws and get paid on within 2 to 3 days. They also said my pets name is wrong in the email but not on the site.
I will give them this: one thing is weird in that there are invoices from 2 clinics because we had an after hours incident, but they don't say which vet they want SOAP for or anything.
TLDR; everything is slow, opaque, you get emails and links to "view your packet" and most don't go to your packet, and it seems like the bad parts of human health insurance.
I have had 3 dogs on HealthyPaws including one that got various cancer treatments (radiation therapy and chemo therapy) and it was all so much easier, faster, and more humane.
Metlife - Metlife pet insurance denial??
I got the preventive care option which meant I had a 0 day waiting period for accidents and preventive care. My dog got his teeth cleaning and, preventive anesthetic bloodworksoon after. I submitted the claim but the denied it, saying it was an illness. He never had an illness for it bwfore and didnt have any symptoms for the bloodwork. Can I appeal? Please help it was $1500
MetLife - Metlife Denial for Illness not Injury>
I signed up for MetLife insurance and literally the next day my cat ate a rubber baby toy causing a blockage in his stomach. The policy had no waiting period for injuries but a 14 day waiting period for "illlness." An emergency surgery/hospitalization later, now Metlife is denying my claim saying that ingestion of a foreign body constitutes an illness not an injury so it was not covered. I got my vet to write a note saying it was clearly an injury not an illness, and wrote an entire appeal....only to have it denied for the exact same reason.
Anyone have a similar experience? Also has anyone utilized the part of the policy where you can appeal an appeal to a third party neutral vet? It says I would have to pay for it but I am wondering if anyone has even had success doing that?
Metlife Pet Insurance - Metlife Pet Insurance - change of address
Just a little PSA for people who weren't aware, when you move you may lose access to your old policy. I've had my policy for 2 years and in that time one of my cats turned 15. because I'm moving, they are charging me a deductible again and also won't cover my cat on the same plan anymore due to age. I'm going from 80% coverage on an unlimited amount to a cap of $2,500. in a HCOL area.
I'm obviously devastated but just wanted to share. might have chosen a different place to live if I'd known how screwed I would be.
MetLife - Thinking of getting MetLife pet insurance for my dog
I’m thinking about getting MetLife pet insurance for my dog and wanna know if it’s actually worth it. I’ve seen they cover stuff like vaccines, dental cleanings, flea/tick meds and give about 80% back after a $250 deductible. The price seems okay too.
But I’ve also heard some people had their claims denied for weird reasons (like needing medical records from before they adopted their dog which makes no sense). So I’m kinda torn.
Would really appreciate honest opinions. Thanks.
MetLife - Is MetLife Pet Insurance really worth it or just another scam? Need honest reviews!
Hey everyone, I’m considering getting MetLife Pet Insurance for my dog but I’m so confused about whether it’s actually good or just a waste of money. I’ve heard mixed things and want real opinions from people who have actually used MetLife pet insurance. Does it cover enough? Are the claims process and customer service decent? Or is it just another insurance company that makes promises but doesn’t deliver? I’ve been burned before with other pet insurances that seemed great at first but then denied my claims or had crazy restrictions. Looking for honest reviews about MetLife pet insurance — did it help with vet bills? Was it easy to deal with? Any tips or things I should be aware of? Thanks in advance, pet owners!
