USAA - Price vs Service
Based on the age old adage "price is what you pay value is what you get" what has been the best price vs service experience with auto insurance providers? I'm not looking for the cheapest insurer, however I am looking for the best user experience when you need to actually use your insurer's services.
Context: I have been a loyal USAA customer for the past 15 years, and recently had a not so great experience when finally having to use their services. Today I submitted an online Roadside Assistance claim, never received follow-up communications, and when called I had automated voice response systems hang up. I have been paying top dollar every month justifying the expense by thinking when I need them I'll get unmatched"white glove service." Yet, today the service was meh. I always told myself I was paying for the best of the best, but maybe it's time to reevaluate
USAA - Insurance for At-Fault driver denying claim bc they can’t contact him
Location: Dallas, TX. I was out of town in November, and my vehicle was being driven by my housesitter, who was involved in an incident where (I believe) the other driver was at fault. She stated she was sitting at a four-way stop when it was her turn to move forward and a driver came through the intersection without stopping and swiped the side of my vehicle. He provided to her his drivers license and car insurance information at the time of the incident.
When I returned from my trip, I filed a claim with his insurance, which was USAA. No police report was filed. I have insurance through Texas Farm Bureau but liability only with a 1k deductible.
The first agent I worked with at USAA was completely unresponsive, I reached out multiple times to her over the course of several weeks before I had any follow up and had to escalate my claim to a manager. Finally, a second agent was assigned. The second agent originally told me that, based on the first agent’s notes, the claim would be closed in my favor, she just needed to verify with her manager because no one had been able to contact the driver.
The next time we spoke, however, she said they needed to speak with the driver to verify events before they could close the claim. Basically, over the course of several months, the driver refused to contact USAA or speak with them about the claim. According to the agent, they sent several letters and calls. I’ve just received a denial letter from USAA and the advice from the new agent is that I file a claim with my insurance and they can try to recoup any monies from USAA; however, I’ll basically just be paying out of pocket bc of my 1k deductible and liability coverage.
I haven’t gotten an estimate on my vehicle yet but the damage doesn’t seem extensive, I would think maybe $1000-1300 in repairs; however, much more than I can afford. Do I have any recourse to get this handled with USAA?
Updated to add paragraph breaks. :) Also updated to say I will double check with my agent about my policy tomorrow (they're closed now). I thought I had liability with a 1k deductible but I'll double check on whether or not thats for collision coverage. I looked at my policy documents and I can't tell what I have...
Thanks for all the help !
USAA - At fault party was sent to collections.. what should I do?
Location: Maryland (currently living in Georgia now)
So I got into a car wreck back in December. My car received 7 grand in damages but managed to make it out. I ended up going to the hospital because of the wreck and the at fault driver hit another vehicle as well totaling both of their cars.
Now some months later my insurance company, who is handle my legal matters (it’s USAA if it matters), has informed me that the at fault party has been sent to collections. And I was told if they don’t respond their license will be indefinitely suspended. But nothing else really? I have lost a lot from this accident keeping me out of work and a vehicle for quite a while. And the value of my perfect condition vehicle has made it work about a couple of grand when its initial selling value was over 12 grand.
I am a safe driver and I feel like I’m being punished for an irresponsible driver and my insurance isn’t really doing much to remedy the situation cause at this point it really has been money out of my pocket.
Also the at fault driver was uninsured as well. I don’t know what to do and it’s been making me really kind of sad about it.
USAA - USAA car insurance problems
Basically was hit by one of their insurer. They never paid for an extension for the rental, I’m trying to get it to me but now my adjuster has been changed and never got back to me. Did a dismissed claim and it’s been 3 weeks now and I never got anything back.
For the rental, they’ve been trying to wire but never went through. Now the other adjuster has to call me and never has in 4 business days. Is USAA this terrible
USAA - Don’t bother seeking a home quote with USAA if you’re in California
I wasted hours giving them information, more personal than any other company asked for, all the while them promising me several times that they are writing policies for my area. When it finally came to the moment of truth they admitted they could give me a quote from Bamboo and the Fair Plan!!! I could've gotten those quotes myself in ten minutes, but instead spent probably 2.5 hours registering family members and giving them SS numbers, confirming phone numbers, etc. I swear they are in the business of compiling personal information rather than providing insurance.
USAA - Am I over paying??
I’m 23, no accident or tickets at all currently driving a 2021 Mazda3 hatchback, no loan on the car.
Currently paying 362 a month for full coverage with USAA and live in Florida.
Should I look elsewhere for insurance? I’ve been with USAA 5 years now and I’m starting to think I’m over paying.
USAA - When should I cancel my auto insurance?
I’ve been with USAA all my driving life and I’ve grown fed up with the high prices. So I’m switching to Erie and it goes active on the 28th. My USAA bill is due the 31st so when would be the best day to cancel? I’m not sure if I should call tomorrow or call them on the 27th. This is the first time I’ve ever switched insurances like this.
USAA - House fire displacement fund question (usaa)
Had a house fire, insurance adjuster said i get 5000$ a month for up to 12months for a rental equivalent to my house (3/2 2000sqft)
Well 3 months went by and I decided to move into my own rental house , it’s a 1/1 while the repairs on the house are being worked on.
Now he’s saying he will only give me the going rate of a 1/1 … which is somewhere around 1500-2k, which is a big difference from 5k.
My question is if that 5k per month mine? Something I can fight for? Or do I only get the exact displacement fund I spend , up to 5k
