Embrace Pet Insurance - Embrace pet insurance
Going through Reddit before I got my Italian greyhound puppy, I came to the conclusion that dog insurance was a NECESSITY with this breed. I did a lot of comparing companies as well as reading reviews of each company with different scenarios and decided on embrace.
I currently pay ~$70/month and it’s been so worth it for me!
Deductible of $250/year with 90% reimbursement afterwards.
Well my Finn boy fractured his leg and we were devastated and overwhelmed by the guilt/fear/etc. We went straight to the ER and found out he needed surgery to have it repaired. (~$6,000). By reading the contracts and stipulations of the insurance agreement I knew it would be covered and there was no way we could have afforded it without insurance.
It did take a lot of hassle on my end. I had to call them several times to get my claim moving. I had to submit all of his documents (several different times). After calling a 4th time and them claiming they did not get the documents I ended up emailing the records to them as well. My claims were then put on “hold” due to insufficient documentation. I was at my wits end trying to come up with anything else they could possibly need. I called again explaining absolutely everything and the worker put notes into the file and sent it back to the adjusters. FINALLY a couple of days later (1 month total of waiting) I finally got reimbursed 🥳.
It was such a shit show but I was so relieved that it covered basically everything. My only complaint is that if you don’t pester them they don’t get anything done. The workers told me that the first claim always takes the longest to process and the next ones should only take a week or less. I hope that’s the case- hahah!

Please don't fall for them . They are a scam . Besides internist personally writing to them that my cats who (needed biopsy )condition was not pre-existing sending 2 years of medical records calling emailing speaking with several people who barely know what their doing they denied my claim. Don't fall for their lying sales people . I report them to BBB I hope more people will ,Spot can't keep scamming people.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Embrace Pet Insurance Premium Increased by 84%
Hi,
Curious if anyone else has had this issue. From what I’ve read online, it seems to be a general theme with pet insurance and I don’t think I have any rights or avenues to pursue to do anything about it.
I have had Embrace pet insurance to cover my 3 pets since December of 2020. My insurance premiums renewals for my pets, that I still have the records for have been:
Dec. 2022: $112.90
Dec. 2023: $133.49
Dec. 2024: $245.76
My pets are obviously getting older from when I initially took the policy. Current ages:
Cat (6)
Cat (10)
Dog (8)
Their rationale for increasing my premium is cost of vet bills increasing, my “tenure” (I’ve had embrace 5 years therefore my pets have likely developed ‘pre existing conditions’ that would not be covered if I was a new policy holder which means more money they have to pay to now cover these conditions), and the pets age.
I understand things increase year over year, I’m hung up on the fact that my rate has almost doubled in a single year. I was going to file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner, but it doesn’t seem that they are technically violating any laws.
I feel like I can’t switch companies because my pets have “pre existing conditions” that won’t be covered at a new place but at $300/ month I might as well save my money and pay the vet bills out of pocket.
I found online that Embrace was sold to JAB Holding company for $1.5 billion dollars in 2023. So I don’t think my premiums are going up so Embrace can keep the lights on.
If you have any advice, I am all ears. If you don’t have advice, take this as a recommendation to avoid Embrace pet insurance at absolutely all costs.
Embrace Pet Insurance - Best way to appeal a decision?
I got a new puppy (7 weeks old). Got embrace pet insurance that same day. Took her in for her first vet appointment as a good pet owner should about a week later. Obviously this was still during the illness waiting period. But it appeared I had a nice healthy puppy.
Turns out she has a heart murmur. First vet graded it as a grade 4 and told me to see a cardiologist. I went and got a second opinion and they graded it as a grade 3 and we are going to watch it and see if it goes away in the next couple months.
Anyway, embrace pulled the SOAP notes from the 2 vets and are saying it's not covered as it's a preexisting condition. I plan on appealing it, even going to the California insurance board or whatever it's called if I have to because it seems like that is such BS. I'm being punished for taking my pup to the vet too soon.
My question is, what is the best way to word the appeal to the embrace adjuster? It's not right that an 8 week old puppy getting it's very first exam should get that classified as a preexisting condition.
MetLife Insurance - MetLife Insurance- Address Change Question
Hi! I’ll get right into it-
I adopted my dog in 2021 at age 3 and got her pet insurance immediately at around $20 per month initially. The price has gone up as she aged and is around $55 per month now (she is 6 almost 7). I moved in the last few months ~10 miles away from my old apartment but still go to my same vet and have not had any significant changes otherwise. I called the pet insurance to change my address and they quoted me $139 for the same coverage I have just because I moved. Since I have been with the pet insurance a while, I feel like they just redid my quote as though I was a new customer and that’s why it’s so expensive.
For nearly triple the price I’m not willing to keep the insurance but wondering if I have any rights here or this could be escalated further? I really like my pet insurance but feel that this is outrageous especially since I have not moved that far and still go to the same vet so I don’t see how it would make that much of a difference to them.
More details- I have MetLife pet insurance. I live in Saint Petersburg, FL (moved from downtown to north st Pete and my zip code changed). I also moved from an apartment to a townhouse.
Thanks in advance!
Edit to add: no preexisting conditions except allergies (she gets a shot every 3-4 months) and nothing new that would have contributed to the price change.
Odie Pet Insurance - Odie Pet Insurance
I hope this info helps and would love any additional details anyone else may have… As I assume there are a multitude of others that are in the exact same (sinking) boat.
Had ManyPets for 2 years. Used it and Loved it. Premium went up 223% this year when they announced the switch to Odie. Shortly after I sent an email disputing that increase, I got an email from both ManyPets and Odie stating that they had found a discrepancy and revised my premium amount to a much lower rate. THEN, days after, Odie went ahead and charged the Amex I had in file with ManyPets without authorization AND it was for an amount greater than they had originally stated. I have emailed them a dozen times over the last 2 to 3 weeks, tried to reach them on chat through the portal, and I've been calling every day. I've only been able to find two numbers that are intended for customer care: (877) 327-0471 & (877) 427-0471 I get nowhere with either one. Continuous on old music on one, dead air on the other. I contacted American Express, as I had my auto-payment with ManyPets set up with them (in hindsight, that was very smart). I created a dispute and they removed the AmEx card for future payments, but have started that I need to get someone on the phone or an answer via email proving they understand I wish to cancel. It sounds as though unless I can do that, I may be out that initial charge that hit on 1/3. The Amex representative did help me track down a third number he found listed on the Internet somewhere: (212) 645-2884. This is a New York number and is eventually sent to Voicemail for someone named Miles Darson. I've now called this number and left a message two days in a row. Still have no reply.
I will say, I looked up the Odie office location on a map and it's very near the area in California where all the raging fires are going on. I can't help but wonder if that has something to do with this, but also can't imagine they wouldn't post information for all their clients or answer the phone and reply to emails. It appears as though they just took everybody's money and ran ...
Happy that I was only charged once and was able to cancel future payments through AMEX, but even just on principle… I want my money back from the initial charge. Extremely infuriating.
Fetch Pet Insurance - BEWARE: Fetch Pet Insurance is deceitful about their dental coverage
I've paid $3332 in premiums for my dog's insurance policy. Now, the first time I try to file a claim for a dental extraction, it is not approved because she had a pre-existing condition of "mild gingivitis" three years before our policy began. [They boast all over their website that they have the most extensive coverage for dental compared to other pet insurances](https://www.fetchpet.com/the-dig/does-pet-insurance-cover-dental-care), but they do not. My dog's gingivitis was so mild at that time the vet said it was not a concern, but apparently that is considered a pre-existing condition. Just want to warn other pet owners out there.
Spot Pet Insurance - Spot Pet Insurance and Pre-Existing Conditions
I have a 9 y/o Bengal male who had a bout of diagnosed stress colitis three days after I took him from his long-term family and before he was covered. Now, he has diagnosed pancreatitis, which is a totally different thing, of course. However, apparently because they have similar symptoms, the stress colitis is being treated as a "pre-existing condition" for the pancreatitis by Spot. This is ludicrous, and my vet agrees. I'm going to challenge it.
Does anyone have any tips about the challenge and/or the paperwork I have to submit? Has anyone successfully challenged Spot or another pet insurance?
If the challenge doesn't go through, then I'm canceling Spot and just going to pay whatever I have to pay instead of giving them money each month. If they can say something is pre-existing simply because two diagnoses share symptoms, then I don't trust that I'll ever see any reimbursement of costs at all. What if my cat gets diagnosed stomach cancer, which can cause symptoms similar to stress colitis and pancreatitis? Does that mean then they won't cover it? Seems like they at least have that prerogative to do so.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Nationwide Pet Insurance - Nationwide Pet Insurance - My Pet Protection With Wellness Plan
I'm having trouble figuring out what is covered and not covered under this plan.... My dog recently had an anal abscess the size of a kiwi so it needed to be removed immediately. Deductible is $250.00, and I'm just trying to see the benefits coverage but am having the most difficult time navigating the Nationwide Pet Insurance website; it's as if they do not want us finding out what's covered to utilize our insurance to the fullest. With this operation potentially maxing out my deductible, I have some other Wellness things I want to get taken care of, such as dental, or to see if I can do anal expressions every few months. Any insight on coverage?
ASPCA Pet Insurance - ASPCA Pet Insurance is a scam! Beware!
