Nationwide - Nationwide warning
My pup just got cancer, and I’ve had her on nationwide for 12 years, I signed up when it was 90% coverage, excluding wellness and they used to pay out reasonably well.
They hide it in the small print but they have extremely low limits for most categories - meaning I will be paying 70% of this out of pocket.
The diagnostic limit alone is $1650 which is 25% of an MRI in my area.
My other dogs are with healthy paws and pets best - I am sick that I didn’t move her sooner.
If you see this please just move your pups rather than suffer.
Healthy Paws - Help me decide
This is for a puppy that will be enrolled at 8 weeks old.
All unlimited options:
Pets Best
- doesn’t cover alternative therapies such as shockwave, PRP, stem cells, PEMF
- $50.87 month
- 90% with $500 deductible
Healthy Paws - my current insurance provider
- no longer offers 90% coverage
- policy states it doesn’t cover diseases preventable via vaccine which is concerning since vaccines don’t always cover all strains
- $47.71 month
- 80% with $250 deductible
Pumpkin
- sample policy says “we may decide not to renew your policy at the end of any policy period” which is concerning if you start having a lot of claims
- $74.99 month
- 90% with $500 deductible
Figo
- $51.99 month
- no exams covered (or $62 with exams covered)
- 90% with $500 deductible
Any thoughts? I’m happy with Healthy Paws but the 80% is disappointing so considering other options
State Farm - Glass coverage in CA?
Got a crack on windshield recently and just found out there is no specific "Glass coverage" policy for me. What I'm trying to say is if I wanna use my insurance to replace the windshield then I need to use the main accident coverage or something to cover it and I have $1000 deductable since Safelite gives me a $1100 quote and if I use insurance it will make my rates higher in the future, so it's kinda worthless and means I have to pay the $1100 windshield by myself. I've heard some ppl have a specific glass coverage which means it will cover any glass replacement with 0 deductable and will not affect my rates.
So my question it's the CA thing or did I just pick the bad company? I have Statefarm for now since it's the "No.1" insurance company and I just don't wanna any trouble if one day I have some damage and need to claim. If it's the company, any recommendations? Ty.
MetLife - Anyone Denied Claims from MetLife Pet Insurance?
Hi everyone,
I'm on the phone with the claims department at MetLife. After having paid faithfully for my dog's insurance since the night I adopted him for two years, when I finally filed my claims, I've received SIXTEEN CENTS. Two years worth of payments for SIXTEEN CENTS. They are denying part of my claim because they said I need to provide the previous 12 months of medical records of my dog's history before November 2022. The problem? I ADOPTED HIM IN NOVEMBER 2022. I could see if they were confused about that, but they were on the phone with me during the adoption process! I have a second dog, and I have a different insurance through them, and I planned on going with them, but MetLife gave me a good rate, and the rescue was so encouraging that I went with them, against my better judgment. Now I know why- they suck.
I am looking for other people who've been asked for the same asinine requirements of producing their adopted dog's previous 12 months of SOAP notes BEFORE you adopted them and were denied for a claim. I'm looking to either send this to my state's AG or see if there's an attorney out there willing to take on a class action. Clearly, MetLife Pet insurance is a scam agency. I've asked them yet again to reimburse me, and I told them this time, if they say no, then I want all my payments returned. It's an easy decision- pay less for my claim, or pay more and give me back all my money. I also told them if they do, I'm willing to return the 16 cent paper check I made them mail me.
Thanks.
ManyPets - Odie unresponsive after ManyPets transfer
UPDATE: they finally replied and sent me another link to update payment + the portal access link. Unsure what I did.. I guess since payment was involved, they prioritised? Anyway now I can look at my plan, submit a claim, etc. And they said the Comms would improve in the coming weeks. Staying with them bec the premiums were the most affordable with them.
I've seen posts about odie this year but writing about my situation in case anyone has also faced it.
To the people who got transferred over - have you received your welcome email? My policy renewed on the 2nd of January, and I never received a welcome email.
I had to take my cat to the vet and got a 1k bill. There's no place to submit a claim. Nobody is replying to my emails.
And on top of that, I received an email today saying my payment didn't go through with a link to update - BUT THE LINK WAS EXPIRED!! The audacity to ask me for a payment when I have literally no info and no reply from this company.
Nobody picks up the phone. And if the payment doesn't go through, the policy will lapse and that will leave my cat without insurance which is soooo frustrating!!! Has everyone else gotten their account setup emails?? Or even received a response over email??
Their voicemail message says if you email multiple times it will delay the response even more so I'm scared to write them again and again. Advice??
Pets Best - Thoughts on increasing deductibles
Hey everyone, I got my renewal for petsbest for one dog.
i'm kinda anxiously waiting appeals for my other dog (unspecified dates in medical records lead to them assuming prexisting conditions unfortunately about some anxiety) and over 11k in other claims (she got a GDV and pancreatitis) that i'm now terrified they will deny somehow. trynna work that out, hoping for the best but anxious af. TLDR the notes were vague about doses I tried and didnt say when i tried them, so insurance assumed before the waiting period bc I used traz/gaba from my other anxious dog at first bc I didn't wanna waste drugs (dumb on my part, but both dogs are on the same insurance so they def know which drugs i've got lol)
My renewal for my dog number one went up from $725.49 to $1,032.08 come January 2025. it's egregious IMO. However, my dog has various medical conditions (sep anxiety, IVDD, hip dysplasia, urinary incontience, allergies) so no shot at switching insurances and it makes zero sense IMO. They've paid out 4.2k in medical expenses for him this year! I'm considering maybe increasing the deductible- how did y'all go about deciding if you should or shouldn't do this.
All the above prices were for 90% 250, 90% with 500 **$736.20/yr**, 700 with $621.05/yr, 1000 with $448.44/yr. I'm so conflicted. I know he's gonna easily reach 2k in rehab, apoquel, immunotherapy, anxiety meds thru the year. Anyone have any advice?
Pets Best - Help with Pet insurance
I was hoping someone might have some insight on pet insurance. I have a 2 yo pit bull who, in the last year, started limping. (At this point, we did not have pet insurance) In May of this year, we took him to our vet and they did X-rays and said most likely he has a partial tear in his ACL, however he couldn’t really tell in the X-ray because he wouldn’t stop wiggling for the pictures lol. Fast forward 6 months, he has a hard time getting around now on both legs because he’s over compensating with the other leg which I was told would more than likely happen. I plan to get the surgery for him asap.
We got Pets best insurance a month later after his appointment in May and we are just about at the “6-month waiting period.” I’ve never dealt with pet insurance before. I am familiar with the fact they don’t cover “pre-existing conditions.” I fear that when we go back in January for a new consult that the insurance isn’t going to cover his surgery because we stupidly took him to the vet prior to getting insurance. I guess my question is, has anyone dealt with pets best insurance for this type of situation? How were they?
Also, would anyone recommend a different insurance company? I know there are a select few that cover pre existing conditions. I feel like I totally screwed myself taking him to the vet for this before getting insurance. He’s only two and I refuse to let him suffer his whole life because of this.
Thanks for any advice in advance. Picture for attention ❤️
Optum Bank - Optum Bank automatically reinvested all of my money, resulting in major loss
Hello,
I have an HSA with Optum Bank that I am transferring to another institution. A couple of weeks ago, I had a phone call with Optum where they had told me to liquidate my investments before initiating the transfer. Right after we hung up the phone, I liquidated all my investments and initiated the transfer with the other institution (Fidelity). I sold X amount of shares of VFIAX at share price of $565.06.
A few days after liquidating everything, there was a purchase of shares on my account using my entire account balance, purchasing shares of VFIAX at a share price $567.88. It turns out that my account had a flag named HSA auto-transfer enabled, which is the cause of this.
VFIAX has dropped a significant amount since this purchase was made. As of now, it is priced at $530 per share, which will drop even lower today.
I am upset because the representative from Optum did NOT inform me that auto-invest was enabled, and my entire portfolio is down about 7% due to this.
I just spoke with a supervisor at Optum to see if they can reverse this transaction and they said there is nothing they can do. The only thing I can do from this point is to disable auto-invest and liquidate all my shares for a loss.
Is there anything I can do about this? I'm upset that I have to take a loss due to the phone rep not telling me to disable this feature. It's also caused delay on the transfer process to Fidelity.
Fetch Pet Insurance Australia - Direct to vet fetch Australia pet insurance
Hey guys I'm with fetch pet insurance Australia due to the fact because they advertised they would pay directly to my vet and I would only have to pay the excess to fetch.. it’s called direct to vet
Well I'm learning now no vets are set up with them at all most vets aren't wanting to hand over there vet details so the vet can pay them directly
I feel like they are scamming there customers
If anyone is with them how do you guys do it?
Spot - Spot and Curable Pre-Existing Conditions?
Hiya, I adopted a kitty from my local shelter a few days ago knowing he has gingivitis and needs a dental cleaning and possible extractions which I will cover out of pocket. The more I dig into the plan the shelter pushed through Fetch, the more I’m realizing Fetch feels like an elaborate scam.
I’m looking at switching to Spot as it’s one of the companies that claims they will cover curable pre-existing conditions if there’s been no occurrence/need for treatment for 180 days.
Has anyone gone through this with Spot and can you confirm that they did start covering a condition after that 180 day period, or did they find a way out of it? Any other companies you would recommend that are good for this?
He’s only a year old, the vet is hopeful we can get it fully treated and cured but of course there’s no way of knowing for sure.
