Pets Best - I’ve been a customer of Pets Best for 6 years
I’ve been a customer of Pets Best for many years. I had some ice damage on my house this winter which caused extensive unexpected expenses. I was late paying my premium and the cancellation date was April 9. I tried to pay it on the evening of the eighth, but the payment wouldn’t go through so I called the morning of the ninth and they told me my policy was already canceled and there’s nothing they could do.
They sent me a letter saying that my cancellation date was April 9 but that if I called by April 24, my policy could be reinstated.
They completely disregarded the date on the letter and said that they were canceling me today with no review. They said that they legally couldn’t reinstate me even though I have a list of names of people’s policies that they have reinstated after I posted a Facebook post regarding this situation. Then they said they couldn’t reinstate me because of late payments but they’ve always been paid, even a few late payments over the years have always been paid within the grace period.
They won’t give me a reason why they will not continue with my policy and they were incredibly heartless. Erin, the manager confirmed that it’s not that they can’t reinstate the policy. It’s that they won’t. When I asked him if that’s what he said to confirm, he said “Yep”
Between the extensive damage on my house that I have to deal with now on top of the fact that I’m having cancer surgery in three weeks, Pets Best also gave me this to now deal with.
After all these years of being a loyal customer, they give me no reason why they won’t reinstate, even though they sent a letter stating that they could.
Pets Best is not about caring for your pet. Pets Best is all about money. Do not use them for coverage if you care about your pet.
Had I known they were gonna do this near the end of my dog’s life I would’ve never signed up with them in the first place and of course now it’s impossible for me to get him other coverage.
Pets Best assured that my dogs quality of life and the length of his life will be decreased.
He has Cushing’s disease so they have also insured that he is going to suffer.
Pets Best does not care at all about your pets.
Pets Best - They have bad customer service
They have bad customer service, take months to get back on your money, then when issues arrises they’re combative
Pets Best - Terrible company!
Thy don't reimburse according to their policy and when they send you a check, you have no idea how they got the measly amount they came up with. There is no explanation and the person answering the phone has no knowledge about any aspect of a policy and cannot answer any questions. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.
Pets Best - Put Your Money in a Savings Account Instead
I have had my dog insured through Pets Best for approximately 7 years. In the first few years my claims were reviewed promptly and reimbursed partially. While I wasn’t thrilled with only partial reimbursement, it made sense with deductibles and let’s be honest, our dogs run into problems on their own timelines that never match our convenient ones. Now that I have a senior dog, my claims have taken almost two months to be reviewed and subsequently denied. Pets Best has had to “request medical records” from my vets office and stated they were never sent. Asked me to inquire, which I did just for Pets Best to say they never received them. This led to my claims being denied.
My senior dog cracked a tooth on a bone (this is what the vet told me) which led to a tooth infection. I treated the infection first, then took her to a different vet (this office didn’t do extractions) to have it looked at. This vet said it had to go, or risk another infection. I asked that they clean her teeth while they had her under for the extraction. I had been doing non anesthetic cleanings because I didn’t want my senior dog put under.
I submit my claim and almost two months later have my first expensive claim completely denied stating that it was periodontal disease which is not covered because I did not have her teeth cleaned under anesthesia in the last 13 months.
If they would have attempted to contact me or my vet at any point during this review, it could’ve easily been explained. This company is looking for a reason to deny your claims.
To add insult to injury, immediately after denying my claim, I got a letter stating they are increasing my monthly premium to $200 due to my pets age and just general use of modern medicine to treat dogs being on the rise.
Don’t give this company free money. Put it in a savings account. I was told I could dispute the claim denial. I’m SURE I will be able to have an unbiased review of that claim after my policy cancellation….hah.
Pets Best - They are efficient, but reimbursement rates are far from actual costs
They are efficient. I do regret that they don't reimburse more for the actual cost of routine pet care. Cost of routine care is high, but is presumably cheaper than paying out for big problems that could be prevented. A 200$ lab panel reimbursed at 50$ is not all that helpful.
Pets Best - No payment for you!
They deny most claims. We really need ObamaCare for Pets.
Pets Best - Pets best is the worst
We paid for premium coverage and they only paid $150 of a $980 bill for getting our dog neutered. My understanding was this procedure was %100 covered. Do not use this provider, they take over 60 days to pay out often with no exploration of the payout. Use embrace instead
Pets Best - 80% Returned Wasnt There
I need to understand the policy. Maybe I signed and missed something. Our math isnt calculating.
Pets Best - Terrible process, endless delays
Terribel outcome, many delays, extra notifications each monday regarding missing documenst and proof of payment. Every time I upload a claim I called petsbest and talk with an agent making sure all documets are uploaded and STILL delays. They said that there is no way to escalate or to talk with a supervisor. I strongly regret I have my pets with another pet insurance and I thought to move them. Bad choice now I can not move them to another insurance, They need verbal confirmation about proof of payments and that is a first and I had 3 excellent insurances before and the turn around was at most a week. Only because the sad memories of the other ones I thought to have this petsbest. Phone recording is so long insisting to go to the web site.... thenwhat?
Here with pest bets says that can take up to 4 days. WHY, all documenst are okai and submitted correctly. I submited a complain to them, I also got a fax from them. Also I did a review in Google and I just dont want other pets parents to go through like me with endless reviews and doubts even with a credit card statement that did niot have my name on it but the amount mach the veterinary services. The more than 30 days delays I paid in extra fees and credit card charges just because theey dont feel like doing the process better for the clients. It is deplorable, there are no supervisors that will call back either, I tried that.
Pets Best - I advised Pet's Best it was unwise to send me one of these emails, but here we are.
I advised Pet's Best it was unwise to send me one of these emails, but here we are.
I have a 15 year old super senior calico. I had previously been with Embrace Pet insurance for years, but their prices had become insane so I switched to Pet's Best. She was listed by Embrace as a "healthy pet" with no preexisting conditions, and I also checked with my vet before making the switch, so I did not anticipate any trouble.
On December 31st my girl started acting odd, and by the morning of January 1st she did not get any better, so I wanted to take her to the vet. But since it was January 1st, everything was closed, I had no choice but to run her to the emergency vet. A few hours and $1,900 later, I found out she had a UTI. When I took her in, the vet noted she was skinny. I was like, "Yea. She doesn't eat as much since she's gotten older." So the vet prescribed appetite stimulant and, as part of the treatment for the UTI, a medication for vomiting as I told them one of the reasons I took her in was because she had vomited that morning.
When I got my receipts for everything, took them home and scanned them and submitted them to Pet's Best for reimbursement, they tried to deny the claim for the entire $1,900 for the UTI because the medication the emergency vet prescribed for her appetite, Mirtazapine, as well as the medication for vomiting, were ones that her primary vet prescribed at same point in the past when her appetite first started toning down. We are talking years into the past. It had nothing to do with her having a UTI now in 2025. I confirmed that with both her regular vet and the emergency vet, both of whom were totally confused by this decision. I had to do two appeals to get this case in front of an actual veterinarian who ruled in favor of my reimbursement. I don't know who is looking at the first level claims and first level appeals, but I seriously question how informed these people are in pet health, or if they just try very hard to try to find reasons to not cover claims. But think very hard before giving your hard-earned money to this company because they have been nothing but a headache for me.
