We were denied coverage for our cat under the guise of his urinary blockage being part of a "pre-existing medical condition." We were under the stress of a life-threatening situation that required a multiple day hospital stay and despite that, Trupanion took less than 24 hours to provide the equivalent of a shrug and a "Not our problem."

Got trupanion because they say they cover 90% of everything on an approved claim, after your deductible... came to find out, that's not true. They only cover 50% of prescription life-long food, for only 2 months. They do not cover any portion of exams or consultation. Read the fine print carefully, the don't actually reimburse much of anything. Disappointed in the company.

I am not able to give a 5 star review here are the reasons for it: The enrollment is fairly easy and quick, but we had "we knock on wood" , and hopefully will never have to use trupanion. So we can't give a honest review on the whole company. How quickly claims work, how customer service works, how fast reaction times are can not be reviewed if it never had to be used. The Homepage for profile etc. is a disaster. Especially on a mobile device (which will be most likely at hand when one goes to the Vet) it is unclear, has too many tabs that need to be read etc. It would be great to get a better online experience. Especially since the insurance doesn't run cheap with almost 200$ We will revise this review if we (and we don't wish so!) Ever have to use the service.

Your initial evaluation of my claim was inaccurate and poorly done. We had to request a second evaluation of our claim in order for you to pay us half of what we are due.

I filed a claim - never really filed a claim before and on 2500 bill for emergency services received $179 back. I will take my chances on my own - cancelling my insurance. Btw I have always only posted positive reviews have never wanted to hurt a company,

I really dislike that my dog's ear infections are considered a pre-existing condition when they happen at random times. She is a floppy eared dog - she is prone to ear infections and they are costly to treat. I understand that it's considered pre-existing because she had an ear infection before she was insured, but that doesn't really make sense to me.

Their claim process is exhausting. Asking for records going back years and stalling payment with request after request. I have Healthy Paws on other dogs and they payout in three days. I’ve been waiting three weeks for a lousy four hundred dollars.

Wow, everyone seems to love Trupanion, and they've all had good experiences. I have a really important question to ask you all. I need some help understanding.. When you take your pet to the vet, do they pay the bill once submitted, minus your deductible? Because, honestly, my experience hasn't been as good as yours. I'm almost a year in, and YES I just received my rate increase without them paying a cent for any of my big vet bills 😢 I'm one unhappy customer, and I'd never recommend Trupanion. I'm canceling this week. I already pay $87 off the hop. Have had it nearly a year and their poor lame excuses for non coverage on claims is making me want to move elsewhere quickly! I do not recommend Trupanion.. although what they offered seemed better than the rest. There is better! I just received a$3.66 reimbursement after spending thousands in a shy 2 months!! How crooked and embarrassing for a business to clear $3.66 when my bill was $320. That's a mere 1% ... mind boggling!
