Progressive - Policy ceded to reinsurance facility with clean driving record
My auto insurance policy with Progressive was ceded to the North Carolina Reinsurance Facility. I have a clean driving record, no accidents, no tickets, no nothing in the 15 years I've been driving, but they told me that ALL of their policies in North Carolina were ceded after Hurricane Helene -- even though I don't live in Western NC. I've always carried coverage well above the minimum but my coverages are of course going to decrease significantly and my premium has gone up by a lot, as well.
I'd like to switch companies, but I'm wondering if this has happened with policies across the board in NC regardless of company and that now that I've had a policy ceded, anywhere I switch will automatically do that, as well. Can anyone clarify how this works? Any other NC drivers run into this with other companies since Hurricane Helene?
I really hope I'm not out of luck and can no longer get coverage above the minimum anywhere. I'm happy to switch companies if needed, but I also bundle with
Allstate - What could the Honda dealership do?
Hi. So I purchased a new car and am within a year of paying it off (I’m paying it off ahead of schedule) when I was at the dealership it was required that I had full coverage until the car was paid off. Now my question is, what could Honda do if I change my insurance company (I’m currently with the useless all state) and change my plan to minimum coverage?
Healthy Paws Insurance - Healthy Paws Petition of Opposition
Over the last two years my Healthy Paws Insurance premiums have gone up a total of 81%, which has forced me to remove one of pets off of my policy to make it more affordable. One of my pets is a senior, like many of the posts I'm reading here, and he has a heart condition forcing us into daily medical management per his most recent Echocardiogram. Like most of us who are appalled at our premium increases as of late for our senior kiddos, I am proposing we all sign a Petition of Opposite which will require your Name, the state of residency and your current or cancelled policy number. I will be posting this on a few sites in hopes to round up all those who feel their pets and their pockets have been treated unfairly. If anyone would like to recommend the best way to go about collecting this information, please relay that in this post.
Thank you for your time,
a fellow pet parent!
State Farm - Question about Renter's Insurance
I’m moving to a new state and currently have renters’ insurance with State Farm. I filed a claim for a theft in my building a couple of months ago, where a large amount of my personal items were stolen from what was supposed to be a secure mailroom.
Last Friday, I contacted a State Farm agent in my new state to set up a policy for my next apartment. After taking the weekend to get back to me, she said she had spoken with the underwriting department and they couldn’t write me a policy because of that claim. She specifically said I couldn’t have an active claim in the last **24–36 months**.
That doesn’t make sense to me. Why would the rule be a range instead of a clear cutoff? Is this standard insurance practice, and I’m just unfamiliar with it, or did she give me incorrect info? The vague timeline feels odd, and I’m wondering if she was just making it up or if she has the information wrong. I ended up going with a different insurance company anyway, but just wondering if she was BSing
MONTERRA - Collections
Location: Arizona
My boyfriend and I rented an apartment about a month ago. Ever since staying there, we noticed a large, unavoidable amount of roaches. As stated in the contract, we were allowed to leave if the conditions were deemed unfit for living. We sent several emails regarding this situation, and even got bed bugs and have photos of proof of the roaches and bites as well as a doctor note. There were roaches in bags of potatoes, closed flour, and more.
We had enough and left, leaving a letter saying we would be leaving and why. They are now trying to charge us 12k for the months that we left, and threatened to send to collections. We got an email this morning regarding the amount owed from collections.
What can we do? We both don’t make enough to pay this off or to get a lawyer.

ISO insurance - Need help
Hi
I’m an international student currently in the U.S. on a STEM OPT extension. Recently, I was admitted to the hospital due to severe pain, which turned out to be a kidney stone. I had to undergo surgery, and now I’ve been hit with a $50,000 medical bill.
I have ISO insurance, but they’re refusing to cover the charges, saying it’s a pre-existing condition—even though this was the first time I ever experienced it and didn’t know about it before. As a student, I don’t have a high income, and this amount is overwhelming for me.
I’m looking for any advice or guidance on what I can do to get help with this bill—whether it’s negotiating with the hospital, financial aid, or any legal options. Any direction would mean a lot right now.
Thank you so much.
State Farm - Statefarm canceling my insurance.
So I recieved notice today that Statefarm is canceling my insurance because of three accidents going back to 2022. Two were not my fault, I was rear-ended in both. Is this typical? What insurance company you recommend?
TIA!
Aetna - No speech therapy clinics take my insurance
Hi all,
I'm running into a pretty frustrating issue. I have called like 50 clinics in the Austin area and even though they appear on the list of clinics that take my insurance, they don't.
Is the only option to pay out of pocket? My son is 3 and has a delay that was diagnosed at 2. We had speech therapy for a while and he is doing a lot better, but I am having issues getting it covered.
I have an Aetna plan that is self-funded through my employer. If I could find a clinic, they would cover the sessions at 100%. My son is 3 and I have called the school district, but they said it would be next school year before they could assess and set him up, if his delay is even serious enough. He does not have autism, he has no other markers for it besides the speech delay.
Lemonade - Help! Lemonade pet insurance
Can someone help me with Lemonade pet insurance?
My pet policy is 80% reimbursement, $250 deductible, $10,000 annual.
My dog went to the vet to get a mass checked out and got bloodwork done.
My plan doesn't cover exams or bloodwork.
Cytology was $185 and fine needle aspiration was $40.
In this case, the eligible cost that would go towards the deductible is the cytology exam and fine needle aspiration, which adds up to $225.
I was under the impression Lemonade paid out 80% AFTER the deductible is met.
But Lemonade just got back to me, and it shows that they covered 80% of the $225, which is $180.
Which means I still have to pay $70 until my deductible is met, instead of $25.
I thought the 80% was only for reimbursement after the deductible, not 80% coverage of the deductible.
Is this how all pet insurance work?
State Farm - claim on house with state farm
