Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
Embrace - Embrace Gelp!!
Embrace is great. I love that I am a member for 15 or more years. Very good to us.
Yesterday though was the first time someone said they were going to send me a spread sheet of my dogs, Lexi, Jake, and Kings charges( how much did we spend on each dog). I told him that we need an idea of the charges to make an informed decision on picking a new policy. I have not received this spread sheet.
This is the first time this has happened. I was being encouraged to maintain the 10000 reimbursement when I am trying to decide on the pricing. The amt has gone up and I need to review my option I was hoping for someone to help me with this issue.
No help and no spread sheet.
I have been a member for a long time. This time it was a little different than what I expected.
Thank you Elizabeth Bandomer
PS I still want the spread sheet
Trupanion - Trupanion replies quickly when invoices…
Trupanion replies quickly when invoices are submitted. I wish they covered more of the vet costs though. Our dog is old and having trouble with a corneal ulcer. Now seeing a specialist and the cost is high. Not even 50% of it is covered which isn't great especially when my monthly cost for the insurance keeps going up.
Embrace - Exorbitant price increases!!!!!
The rates have gone up an average of 30-40% every year. This year for my 2 dogs it is going up 258%. It is going from $138.09 to $356.39. One of the dogs went up 320% because he turned 10. The other is only 4 years old and went up 55%. Despite what they say in their reply it is not true. My 10 year old has been insured since he was a puppy. He has never had a surgery! He las low thyroid and arthritis, that’s it!
Embrace - Avoid Embrace - Professional Claim Denial Service
Paid premiums religiously. When my cat needed diagnostics, I got a masterclass in insurance bad faith instead of coverage.
What happened:
- Entire diagnostic workup denied under blanket "pre-existing thyroid" excuse
- No breakdown of what was actually denied vs. covered
- Unrelated imaging and consultations were lumped into the rejection
- Second claim delayed for weeks as "pending medical history" despite records already on file
- Forced my vet to re-send identical documentation they already had
The punchline:
When my vet asked for claim itemization, Embrace went silent. Their "appeals process"? Make the veterinarian write a letter that goes back to the same underwriter who denied it initially.
Translation:
You're not buying pet insurance. You're funding an elaborate claim denial operation with a fake appeals process designed to exhaust you into giving up.
Save your money. This company sells protection, but delivers a professional runaround when you actually need them.
UPDATE: 9/8/25
My response to Embrace’s public statement:
Embrace says they’re “upfront” about coverage and that pre-existing conditions are “determined directly from the notes provided to us from your veterinarian.” That is not true in my case.
My veterinarian emailed Embrace directly and pressed them for itemization of which charges were being denied, the dates of those charges, and the justification for tying them to hyperthyroidism.
Embrace ignored her request and issued blanket denials anyway.
If Embrace were truly using the vet’s notes as they claim, they would have answered my vet's questions instead of dodging them.
This shows Embrace is not being transparent with policyholders or veterinarians, despite what they write in their template replies.

Every thing you done for me has been great.
Embrace - Avoid Embrace - Professional Claim Denial Service
I trusted Embrace to protect my cat. Instead, I got an expensive lesson in insurance bad faith practices.
The Setup:
Monthly premiums paid on time. Comprehensive policy purchased. My cat develops health issues requiring a diagnostic workup.
The Gaslighting:
When my vet requested basic claim transparency (what's denied vs. covered), Embrace ignored the request. Their adjuster's solution? Have the veterinarian write an appeal letter for review by "our chief underwriter"—the same person who made the original denial.
What This Really Means:
You're not buying insurance coverage. You're funding a claim denial factory that uses veterinary practices as unpaid administrative staff while hiding behind fake appeals processes.
For Fellow Pet Parents:
The premiums feel affordable until you realize you're paying for the privilege of being professionally obstructed when your pet needs care. Embrace has turned claim denial into an art form.
Bottom Line:
They sell peace of mind but deliver bureaucratic warfare when you're most vulnerable. Your pet deserves better. You deserve better. Choose literally anyone else.
Trupanion - I've not been happy with this coverage
I've not been happy with this coverage, because it doesn't cover items that I believed it would cover, as well the amount of time it takes to actually get a claim paid. I will be looking for new coverage for my pet(s).
Embrace - This compant won’t pay claims
This company won’t pay claims. I submitted four claims for one of my dogs. Embrace denied three of them, claiming that they were pre-existing conditions. Review the negative reviews of this company. This is a typical pattern. To add insult to injury the company raised my premiums 38% after the first year of coverage. They wanted $1500 for no coverage. I cancelled and looking for a company that will sell me actual insurance.
Trupanion - Filing a claim for my pet is worse than…
Filing a claim for my pet is worse than filing a claim than for myself, the paper work, scanning and emailing.
Then there is the deductibles, each illnessee has its own amount and office visits are not covered.
Healthy Paws - Don't buy Healthy Paws Insurance
It's disgusting to see all the responses from Healthy Paws in this thread, acting like they care and that their insane and constant rate increases are reasonable and not based on age.
Like many others, they told me this lie years ago when I asked about their rate increases. At the time it wouldn't have been too late for me to find a decent pet insurance company. Last year when my dog turned 10 they went up to $250/month. This year they want $364. They've paid out a total of $250 for medical treatment of my dog when she was a puppy.
Don't buy insurance from this company. I really wish I'd just put the over $20,000 they've charged for 1 dog aside, just in case.
