Have an issue with your insurance?
Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.
Pets Best - don't use these folks
this company was great when I first started using them. now they are getting greedy and increasing my premium over 20% more than the year prior. when I try to sign up a new pet with this company the rate is the same as what I am currently paying. They are arbitrarily raising my premium with no cause. They have been extremely slow to reply when reaching out for additional explanations. Look elsewhere for a pet insurance company.
Lemonade - Absolute scam!
It’s an absolute scam!!! We submitted a claim for my dog that was in the animal hospital for 10 days due to Addisons. She wasn’t diagnosed with it before our claim on 7/22 before. My dog went to the vet in January,( 6 months) before because she had gastritis. They saw she was vomiting and elevated pancreatic enzymes and denied our claim due to related symptoms. My dog received a bad batch of dog food, was even tested and came back with issues, totally unrelated to Addisons. I guess my dog can never vomit again at the animal hospital or whatever she has will be denied. Do not get pet insurance through these crooks!!!
Fetch - Save your money
An absolute scam. My senior cat had a UTI this summer and an ER bill for $1300.
They denied the claim stating the UTI is a "preexisting condition" because he has urinary crystals when there were no crystals present at the time of his ER visit and a UTI is a BACTERIAL INFECTION, completely unrelated and caused by grooming/ecoli.
I worked as a vet assistant, in a vet hospital, and in animal welfare, I understand this condition and this is completely unrelated.
For a human comparison, this is like going to the doctor for the flu and your insurance refusing to pay for the visit because you also have asthma. How can a cold or the flu be a preexisting condition???
They denied my claim, I filed an appeal, and they denied that, too, so I canceled my policy.
For the $130/month I've paid for a year I could've paid his vet bill in cash instead of being out $1300 and having to deal with this.
Save your time, energy, and money.
Spot - Spot Pet Insurance Policy is Throwing Money in the Ocean
I purchased insurance from Spot Insurance based on good reviews I saw online after my former pet insurance stopped underwriting my type of policy in Florida. Every illness claim has been rejected as pre-existing conditions. Examples: My pet had a corneal ulcer in one of his eyes prior to my policy. He later had a corneal ulcer in the OPPOSITE eye. To Spot Insurance, this was pre-existing (I did appeal it but their customer service did not reach out.) Another example--my dog has had a valve heart murmur for year. It is completely stable and does not require any treatment. He recently developed a completely different heart condition. I specifically asked my veterinarian if it was related to the valve murmur. She said not at all. You guessed it. To Spot Pet Insurance it is pre-existing. I'm so disappointed in this company and would not recommend them to anyone. Save your money! You can use it to pay for all the conditions that Spot wouldn't cover anyway.
Nationwide - Don't Waste Your $ on Pet Insurance!
I insured my dog and cat for 12 years with Nationwide. I regret that I did. It was a waste of money.
I never made a claim for the cat, but the dog had several surgeries after she turned 10. She had three benign tumors removed. Then she developed lymphoma and had a fourth surgery.
Her ultimate, fatal condition was a trigeminal nerve sheaf tumor, which was inoperable.
She died August 1.
I paid them thousands of dollars over the years. Between $15,000-20,000 for the two animals.
The reimbursements were a small fraction of my costs for care. At one point, she had a tumor removed from her eyelid. The bill: $3,500. The reimbursement: about $700.
What's the point of paying for insurance when the coverage is so miniscule?
I would have saved thousands of dollars by having no insurance at all.
Trupanion - They call pain, a condition
What ever pain your pet have, they call it new “ ‘condition’ not to pay, Pain is not a condition, is temporary.
Pets Best - PetsBest takes a long time to process a…
PetsBest takes a long time to process a claim, close to 30 days.
Preexisting condition definition is very broad, be sure you understand it before signing up. For example: if there is a record of your dog ever itching, they may exclude any Dermatology condition.
Nationwide - Couldn't just sign up for accident…
Couldn't just sign up for accident insurance. I don't know if that was my fault or that you can't just sign up for accident insurance.
Also I tried to login to my new account three times and was unsuccessful. I don't know if it's because we have an annuity with you as well.
Embrace - Would never recommend Embrace
Not many regrets in life, but using Embrace is one of them. Since my dog had a bit of food intolerance/allergy when he was little they’ve claimed anything gastrointestinal is a pre-existing condition that they won’t cover. Now faced with the prospect of stomach cancer at age 10 and Embrace won’t even consider scans as something that would qualify. Paid thousands to this company over the years and have never had a single cent back. My vet is even shocked about what they are claiming and using as an excuse.
ASPCA - Useless customer service
Useless customer service. I pay for the preventative care on top of the accident
/illness. Had a claim processed just fine a couple months ago. Had to have dental for my pet due to some gum issues which should have counted. I should’ve at least gotten $100 toward a cleaning at the with the preventative coverage. Whole claim was denied outright because I couldn’t produce medical records from YEARS before I got my pet. Calling customer service just got me a headache of a man who couldn’t remember the species of my pet or my name AND kept repeating the same reasoning over and over again despite any answer I gave him. Save your time and money.
