Pets Best - Horrible expericence every time I place a claim in
The employees lie about receiving documents to delay or reject claims. The customer service employees are extremely rude and will hang up on you. The company is extremely slow at paying out claims and processing claims, tho claim "they are the fastest", I have over 8 years from a different pet insurance company proving they are not the fastest. They make everything so difficult and problematic. They are liars and I would never recommend anyone to sign up for Pets Best for pet insurance. They are a disgrace and disappointment!!!
MetLife - Honest Review
Ilike the level of insurance for my buddy. I am a very responsible pet parent and Iam dedicated to her best life. Met life is a bit pricey and honestly your time to pay is a bit longer than other products Ihave used. I am a nurse on a limited budget and the time you take to pay is a problem for me. The last issue was your staff said my case was to be delayed and then I got a somewhat threating email that if you did not recieve the vet notes the claim may be cancelled.I do not understand why met pet just did not converse with my v et as , this v et is highly responsive. So this is my honest review and I hope you improve.i currentl use another insuranc e for my kitty because of the pay out issue Thanks Kate D
Nationwide - Pretty early to tell.
They wanted me to write a review when the policy hasn't been issued and is waiting. I have given them a 3 star review because it was simple to determine which pet insurance policy is correct for me and the price is right. The program is super easy to use. I'll know more once I actually get the policy paperwork and have a chance to use it!
Healthy Paws - Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
I’ve been a loyal Healthy Paws customer for 13 and a half years—since the day I brought my puppy Bellah home. Over the years, I’ve paid thousands of dollars into this policy with the trust and belief that when the time came—especially in her final stages of life—Healthy Paws would be there for us.
Instead, with no prior notice, Bellah’s monthly premium has been raised from $250 to nearly $800. At nearly 14 years old, with limited time left, my dog is being priced out of her coverage when she needs it most.
I’ve called. I’ve waited. I’ve been hung up on. I’ve sat on hold for hours, only to speak to customer service reps who are either powerless or unwilling to help. Not a single person has shown any compassion or even attempted to work with me. I wasn’t expecting a miracle—but I did expect humanity.
Bellah is not just a pet—she is family. And now, in what should be her most peaceful time, she is being made into a financial burden. After over a decade of loyalty, this is the treatment we’ve received: silence, indifference, and a quadrupled premium.
Healthy Paws, this is not how we honor the animals who have given us their unconditional love. This is not dignity. This is not care. This is not right.
MetLife - Your communication is wonky
Your communication is wonky. You communicated to me about the wrong reimbursement and keep saying it's being reviewed when I;ve submitted multiple variations of the paperwork requested. Additionally, this reimbursement has been approved previously so why the issue now?
Spot - DO NOT GO WITH SPOT PET INSURANCE
Please - save your time and money and do not go with Spot Pet Insurance. I thought I had done my due diligence, and was so disappointed after paying for several months and submitted my first claim. I had to find out through the App that it was denied - they never sent me a letter explaining why they denied my claim. They will do whatever they can to deny your claim. There was a typo in one of my dog's veterinarian notes from one year prior to the accident, so they relied upon that to deny her claim when she injured her leg one year later. So disappointing, so disengenous. Find yourself an insurer who will do whatever they can to assist their policy holders - not scam them.
Healthy Paws - Unjustifiable, exorbitant and unfathomable premium increases over 14 years.
I insured my dog when he was only a few months old in 2012 at a monthly premium of $30.21. With annual increases as much as 36.25% my new monthly premium for 2025 is now $480.76. I had to let the policy expire. I’m retired, living on Social Security, and that’s more than two and a half times my monthly Medicare Premium.
On top of that, regarding on my last two claims, they denied medications consistently covered in the past. They’re making up the rules as they go.
Spot - Do Yourself a Favor and Read the Fine Print
Prior to picking SPOT, I had done A LOT of research. We picked this company because we felt it best fit our puppies needs and picked a plan based on past puppy experiences with accidents and illnesses, etc. I thought it was such a good plan we paid for the year in full to get the discount.
The issue with pet insurance is once you pick one, really you're roped in for your pets life, because of 'pre-existing clauses', ect. They are always on the hunt for any reason not to pay you (which I understand in the big picture is likely necessary to keep the business afloat and all the insurances do the same).
What has really disappointed me about this company is that they are a 'one allergy, all allergy' company, something that a lot of pet insurance companies are not and I did not consider in my research. When we adopted our puppy he had some skin issues, we eventually determined this was due to chicken allergy and cleared up the rash. A few months later he developed a new skin rash for which we took him to the vet and they said was due to seasonal allergies, something he will likely struggle with off and on for life. Spot insurance refused to acknowledge and take this claim on, even though the seasonal allergies developed well after our entry window, because the chicken allergy was present when we first got him they said any future allergies to ANYTHING will never be covered. This makes absolutely no sense to me other than an easy way for a company to scam you and get out of paying. Something I am also sure they likely do with many other conditions.
Honestly, if I had not paid for this plan in full for the year I would have cancelled my plan and gone elsewhere, however, I am going to give them another shot with my second half of the first year that was already paid for and see if my business will be won back for another year... First 6 month review of the company is a huge disappointment.
Fetch - BEWARE!
PLEASE stay away from this company for dog insurance. They denied claims that were clearly stated in the policy and tried to claim they were “pre-existing”. On top of that their customer service is horrible. Save your money and find a different insurance company.
Spot - Disappointing handling of a routine diagnostic – think twice before trusting Spot
After initially thinking I might have finally found a decent pet insurance provider in Spot, I’ve had my confidence in them shattered by one denied claim. My dog’s at‑home cancer screening flagged a moderate risk, so my vet ordered an abdominal ultrasound. Spot refused to classify the ultrasound as a covered diagnostic, even though their illness plan explicitly covers exams, diagnostics and lab tests.
Their reasoning? Because the screening test itself is still in the proof‑of‑concept stage, all follow‑up care is “preventive” and excluded. That logic ignores both common sense and Florida law on interpreting insurance contracts.
I made it clear I wasn’t asking for reimbursement - just that the ultrasound be applied toward my deductible - but they dug in anyway. Multiple appeals, BBB complaints, and even a letter to the underwriter have produced copy‑and‑paste responses. I’m keeping the policy only because my dog is a senior and switching providers would expose him to new waiting periods. But I’ve withdrawn my recommendation to colleagues and will be sharing this experience with the benefits broker who suggested Spot. If you’re looking for a pet insurer that stands behind medically necessary diagnostics, you might want to look elsewhere.
