Spot - I bought the insurance online to cover…
I bought the insurance online to cover my young dog specifically for his neutering. Purchased well in advance to find out it isn't covered. I was not able to submit the claim and discovered this after speaking with someone. They were not able to help. I paid for the insurance in full. It seems the company should have provided some solutions to help me resolve this. I will be moving to another insurance company for my five dogs. I have never had a problem with dog insurances in the past with previous pets.
MetLife - I am still new to Metlife Pet
I am still new to Metlife Pet. I am frustrated with the reimbursement process. Last week I submitted an expense for my dog's annual check up. This week I received an email saying I needed to provide vet notes for the visit. I reached out to my vet to get the notes from the visit. I called to talk to someone at Metlife they said I didn't need the notes that it had already been approved. Additionally, I originally had 2 pets on my policy, I had just finished paying the deductible when one pet suddenly passed away. I was not expecting to have to start over with the $20 deductible after removing the pet that passed.

Miserable reliability of website as well as poor conveyance of actual account information.
I have 2 pets covered by Embrace Health Insurance and it seems like no matter what the issue is, they find a reason not to pay. I never had problems like this with my previous pet insurance company. For example, my dog injured her knee from wear and tear over time because she's extremely active and when she developed a limp, I took her into the vet. Embrace refused to pay claiming it is a skeletal disorder, which is not covered during the 6-month waiting period. When I pointed out this an injury, not a widespread disorder, I was told I need to specify a specific incident/accident that caused the injury if I expected them to pay. It has been a rinse repeat for virtually every claim I turn in for both dogs. I highly recommend you look elsewhere if you want to get your money's worth.
MetLife - Frustrated
I’ve been with MetLife Pet Insurance for several years and have never had any issues—until now. Lately, every time I speak with a customer service rep, I get different information. I’ve also been told I need to wait three business days just to speak with a supervisor. When I submit a claim, instead of being notified that additional info is needed, the claim gets closed. Then the only way to reopen it is by filing an appeal that must be signed by my vet—which is a lot of extra work that could easily be avoided with a quick email or call. These claims are expensive, and waiting months for reimbursement is incredibly frustrating. I really hope the process improves, starting with easier access to supervisors—maybe even offering scheduled callback times instead of playing phone tag. It would make a huge difference. I truly miss how this company used to be.
ASPCA - I very disappointed in this company my…
I very disappointed in this company my one year old English bulldog ended up with aspiration pneumonia and was very sick . We took him to an animal hospital because he started vomiting on a Sunday and his vet office was closed. They kepted telling us how Expensive the bill was going to be we understood all of that told them he had insurance they were happy to know that. He had one overnight stay and had to be in an oxygen box to help with his breathing. We found comfort in knowing we had him on insurance when this happened only when I submitted everything and it was denied for us to get anything back. We was going to renew his policy but not after finding out that won't cover any of this bill!!! Update I have called them very Frustrated wondering why and the lady informed me that they needed a an invoice of every single thing and was charged. Well that was the one thing I didn't have so then I had to call the animal hospital and they sent it email to me and I emailed that to them have yet to hear if they're going to do anything with that since they claimed that was the reason they denied our claim.

Embrace - Disappointed After 16 Years – Outrageous Premium Hike
I’ve been a loyal Embrace Pet Insurance customer for 16 years, insuring six different animals through them. Over that time, I rarely used the insurance, but I paid consistently, trusting they’d be there when I needed them. That trust is now completely broken.
Out of nowhere, they’ve raised my monthly premium from $237.46 to $478.99. That’s more than double. Their only suggestion? Lower the coverage on my 16-year-old cats. Seriously? After all these years of loyalty and minimal claims, this is how they treat longtime customers?
I’ve never experienced anything like this before, even with pets that have aged or passed. It feels dishonest, and it’s unacceptable. I’m pulling my remaining pet, Shiloh, off their policy immediately. I refuse to go through this again as he gets older.
I’ll be switching providers and removing any positive reviews I’ve left in the past. If you’re considering Embrace, think twice.
If anyone has recommendations for a pet insurance company that doesn’t do this, please share. I’m done with Embrace.

Not enough diagnosis options for the claim.
Embrace - Go with another insurance company
I’m learning the hard way that this is the pet insurance company that I should have bypassed for another. They were promoted, or affiliated with USAA which has all of my insurance policies, so I went with them. This is your typical “first option is to deny” insurance companies that they are so famous for.
We had to take our French Bulldog to an emergency vet because he vomited and inhaled some of it and could have caused pneumonia. Our dog has a pre-existing condition for “noisy breathing” whatever that is? He’s a frenchie, they snort. Otherwise he’s a healthy dog. However, since aspirating some of his vomit affected his lungs (not sure how that wouldn’t) they denied our illness claim. So since an illness touched his lungs, it’s not covered even though his breathing didn’t cause the illness. Hypothetically, If a large dog bit my dog in the chest and punctured one of his lungs, I’m pretty sure Embrace would deny that claim, as they would claim that his “noisy breathing” played a roll in that injury. I am beside myself and will be shopping for insurance with another company.
