Let everyone know!
Insurance companies are constantly reviewing us. Are we too old? Do we live in the wrong place? Is our credit score high enough? Well, now it's time to turn the tables. Do you charge too much? Will you pay my claim quickly? Is your coverage worse than it seems? We can review you too.

MetLife - Nasty automated emails and unable to actually talk to a claims person for specific info
Every time I put in a claim and send invoices, I get an email weeks later that they need more information. I have given you EVERYTHING that was asked for. I called and talked to someone after I resubmitted everything for the second time, and days later I get another email that I need to send in more information. Your company acts like your clients are trying to rob you. It was a wellness visit with immunizations- standard stuff and I sent everything, and they are still saying they need more. It seems that this is standard policy to hold off on paying people.
Pets Best - Everything went wrong that could go…
Everything went wrong that could go wrong. This is your typical insurance company screwing you over. Processing the claim takes an extraordinary amount of time; the reimbursement takes forever; the items covered is sinister at least, and you're lucky if you get what they actually claim you will get, because they find reasons to deduct multiple items that you didn't know were not covered. I don't recommend them
Trupanion - One Star is Too Generous — Trupanion Failed Us Completely
We trusted Trupanion to be there when our dog Lola needed them most. Instead, they blindsided us with a cruel bait-and-switch.
Last year, Lola had two masses removed. Trupanion applied a single $500 per-condition deductible — which we paid — and covered the rest. We assumed, reasonably, that we had met the deductible for that condition going forward. But when Lola needed surgery again this year to remove multiple additional masses, Trupanion changed the game. Suddenly, each mass was a separate condition, each requiring its own $500 deductible — five growths, five deductibles. $2500 out of pocket.
That is not pet insurance. That is predatory fine print.
Their policy language is intentionally vague, allowing them to redefine what counts as a “condition” whenever it benefits them financially. And they know exactly what they’re doing — exploiting people in crisis who are trying to save their pets. This isn't just a paperwork issue. This is real financial harm, emotional distress, and broken trust.
On top of it all, watching Lola suffer while we scrambled to figure out how to pay for necessary surgery shattered us. Seeing how upset this made both Lola’s GB and the Feeder Lady? Unforgivable.
If you’re a pet parent considering Trupanion: read the fine print, then run the other way. Don’t wait until your dog is under anesthesia to find out you’ve been deceived.

You have made major errors on 2 of my first 4 claims. One claim got assigned to a closed policy and one just closed and not processed by error.
Trupanion - Don't be fooled by no price increase wording
I just read a lot of reviews and there is a trend I will add to. I have had the insurance for 11 months for a 3 year old dog with no claims or pre-existing conditions. I was just notified of a 16% increase. They play games with the wording not increase for the age of your dog - but if you read the reviews they do them pretty much every year based on their "formula" I have not seen anyones go down based on their "Formula". So not sure if they are any good but they will always raise your rates, so don't be fooled by the wording they present. Here is the wording used to confuse people "No age-based annual price rises"
Healthy Paws - False advertising
Title: False Advertising
I enrolled my 1.5-year-old neutered Boxer mix with Healthy Paws based on their reputation and the understanding that rates wouldn’t increase arbitrarily. I was paying $48/month for 80% coverage with a $250 deductible, which felt reasonable. I’ve had a good experience with claims — the app is easy to use, and reimbursements were processed quickly.
However, I was surprised and disappointed to see my monthly premium jump to $60, despite having no major claims or changes in coverage. When I signed up, I understood that rates would stay stable unless veterinary costs significantly increased. This hike feels excessive and poorly explained.
After some research, I’ve found that many customers have experienced similar increases, which contradicts how Healthy Paws was originally marketed to me.
I think it’s important for potential customers to know that premiums can rise sharply, even without claims. I’m now looking into other providers with more transparent pricing.

I loved nationwide when I first got it in 2020, over the years not so much. Their plans changed and I feel like I should’ve been grandfathered with the plan I had. I regret renewing both of my policies. I should’ve shopped around. I will not be renewing next year.
MetLife - This must be a scam
I have no idea what kind of scam this is. I took my dog to the vet for itching on his feet.. $369 vet bill.
Only $118 of the bill is applied to the deductible. The vet's exam fee is denied!
I'll give this fly-by-night outfit one more chance then take it to the NYS Insurance Commissioner.

The submission requires a diagnosis and seemingly obvious cases, such as a dog encountering a porcupine, are missing.
