Embrace - This is a scam
This is a scam. I am having the exact same issues as the other comments on here, however, I am filing a class action lawsuit as this is a clear “bait and switch” strategy that is wrong. Taking advantage of people’s emotions to want to help their animal and then stealing, stating as well that you have a waiting period of 14 days before you can even use the insurance yet it says you also only have 14 days to request a refund. If anyone sees this and is dealing with the same experience, my father who is an attorney in contract law is assisting me in a class action lawsuit. If you want to join please email me christinascioli34gmail.com. It’s time things change and I’m going to make time because this is evil. Same pattern in their response, they appear to lean on fine print and loosely interpreted policy clauses to deny coverage—suggesting that a required veterinary exam was missing (when in fact it was submitted) or implying that cancer falls outside of covered conditions. These tactics deflect accountability from their own clear marketing claims and the actual policy language, which explicitly state that coverage applies to diagnosed illnesses and does not exclude cancer.
I have reported them to them to the:
- The State Department of Insurance;
- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for deceptive business practices;
- The Better Business Bureau and relevant consumer platforms.
I recommend everyone who is dealing with them just trying to wear you out and give you a run around and hope you quit - don’t. Report them to the above and contact me. There is power in numbers.
Nationwide - Definitely do not recommend
Definitely do not recommend. Will fight you on claims, and raise your premiums insanely high with no consent from you. There is better, and cheaper, pet insurance companies out there: PetsBest, Lemonade, etc. Definitely don’t waste your time with Nationwide.
MetLife - My other pet insurance was so easy to…
My other pet insurance was so easy to put in claim, here you ask for too much. Soap details? Receipt should be good enough
Pets Best - TERRIBLE COVERAGE and TERRIBLE CLAIMS PROCESS
Do not use Pet's Best. They take your money and after a month-long process of easy claims, they reject them for no reason. Put your money elsewhere.
Nationwide - After 4 years of being a policy holder…
After 4 years of being a policy holder from Enron our dog was born you cancelled the Wellness Plan and now tell me that you will not insure her because of too many pre existing conditions - we don’t know of any pre existing conditions!!!

I got this insurance thinking it would help protect my dog, Atom, in the event of an emergency. That turned out to be a complete joke. Atom had to undergo emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage after swallowing a rope—an obvious accident. But MetLife denied the claim, saying it was a “sickness.” Let me repeat that: they claimed swallowing a rope is a sickness. How does that even make sense?
And before even reviewing the claim, they tried to say my policy wasn’t active—a blatant lie. I had already paid and had full documentation proving my coverage was in place at the time of the surgery. I sent them five years of vet records, detailed surgical notes, invoices—everything they asked for. Still, they denied the claim.
To make things worse, they advertise that claims are processed in 10 business days. Mine dragged on for almost two months. Two months of silence, delays, and back-and-forth nonsense, only to get a denial based on a totally made-up excuse.
This company is the definition of predatory. They’ll take your monthly premiums and then twist reality to avoid paying out when it actually matters. The customer service is slow, unhelpful, and either uninformed or intentionally misleading. Based on my experience, it seems MetLife is in the business of collecting premiums and dodging responsibility.
MetLife Pet Insurance is not just unreliable—it’s dishonest. If you care about your pets and your peace of mind, look elsewhere. This company failed me and failed my dog when we needed them most.
Zero stars if I could.
Spot - Typical insurance - denying legitimate claims.
My premium went up roughly 20% with no notice and then a wellness check for my older dog was denied because we also got blood work done to check on liver levels, which were elevated a year ago. I brought this up to the company and said I could have taken my dog in for two separate appointments,(wellness check, and then go back for a blood draw) but that causes extra stress on my dog. Spot Pet Insurance said they want to do everything they can to make their customers happy, but they wouldn't move off of this claim. Clearly they don't want to do everything possible. It was a simple request given I've paid them thousands of dollars. Even if I had not have paid a lot of money already, it is still a reasonable request.
Embrace - Repeated charges a year after cancellation.
In June of 2024 I cancelled my policy and moved to another company because my monthly nearly doubled with no warning. All seemed fine until April of 2025 when I was suddenly charged $93. Then I was charged $600+, then another $93, all within a month. I called in and they reversed the charges, but a couple days later I received an email telling me a charge for nearly $900 would go through on 6/15/2025!! It had better not... I've emailed them and all I've gotten back so far is an email asking how they did, so here I am, telling them.
