MetLife - Metlife Pet Insurance committed fraud…
Metlife Pet Insurance committed fraud by not reimbursing my wife any of the vet costs she incurred last summer for her pet rabbit.
We complained to the BBB and some government regulatory agencies, but Metlife refused to budge. They owe my wife around $275 for vet costs.
I definitely don't recommend Metlife Pet Insurance to anyone else.
Nationwide - First time quoting pet insurance.
The website was hard to find to get a quote started. Also, as a NW associate, we block searching for Nationwide Pet on our browser. Very odd. Took me some time to figure out coverages and differences of wellness, accident, and others. i'm also an associate and didn't see how to get my discount. maybe this happens in the UW process.
Spot - Total scam
They charged my account for three payments that I was behind without telling me. They also indicated that my pets were not covered then but still took out the payments without informing me. Total scam

Absolutely the worst company on the planet. I paid for the insurance wellness and accident and unfortunately my dog got hurt and tore his ACL which is a tendon and it completely tore in half and it requires orthopedic surgery. They denied the claim stating that ACL injury is an illness, not an accident if anyone believes that I have some swamp land to sell you. Absolutely the worst company in the world and if you buy their insurance, you’re just paying the executive salaries because they do not disperse money for their clients. I filed a complaint withconsumer affairs and hopefully somebody will do something because they are a complete fraud. Do not waste your money.
Trupanion - They do not care
Be careful! Trupanion will do ANYTHING to deny claims citing preventative care, previous conditions or symptoms such as “scratching”.
Could it be an allergy? NOT covered. Has your pet had an ear infection in their lifetime? NOT covered if at the time they did not have insurance because every ear infection thereafter, even years after, will be related to the one ear infection.
Your pet has a chronic illness, is on meds and your vet has warned your of potential liver issues? Well don’t expect them to cover labs to check their liver function because they don’t care.
Don’t be fooled by their cute pet photos or marketing. They do NOT care about your pet. They want your money and will suddenly increase your monthly premiums 50% (165 to 250) claiming market adjustments reasons.

Fetch denied coverage for my friend’s dog in an emergency situation. Then five months later, sent her a renewal bill—for her dead dog.
Embrace - I just canceled my pet insurance
I just canceled my pet insurance. The agent was very nice and answered my questions. The problem is the company increased my monthly fee by $35 and this is not well care, just accident and illness. $125 was too much. And, no, it was not an age increase. I went to Pets Best. They offer unlimited cap and prices are cheaper.
Figo - Basically a scam
I work for a very large health insurance company (for humans) and I can tell you if we operated like this the OIC would make like a dog’s rectal thermometer and get right up our butts. I will be contacting Wisconsin’s to see if they handle pet insurance issues. Our dog had a visit for some symptoms that seemed like allergy symptoms, but their persistence led the vet and us to believe there was something else going on, leading to a soft palette resection (in short, the soft palette had overgrown and was causing an esophageal blockage and sinus cavity blockage). Figo denied everything flat out stating that the allergies were a pre-existing condition…despite the fact that this ended up having nothing to do with allergies. I’ve filed an appeal and was told I’ll hear back within 90 days. He’s back today for more diagnostics because he continues to have underlying issues and I fully expect them to deny even though the underlying issues are clearly not allergy related. I should note that our other, older dog is also insured with them and has never had a claim. Obviously I’ll be cancelling these worthless policies.

I'm not sure I will continue with this company. They never seem to cover anything, even wellness. You have to add on wellness, and its basically a savings account you pay into. Any balance does not roll over year to year.
I will also add that when you recieve a denial, it is from an AI generated claims provider. So, I am not conviced that an actual human is making the decisions that affect my pet's health. Much like their response to my review ...
