AmeriSave - Heloc or Homes Equity Loan trouble with Cares Act Forbearance
Hello,
So Just to give some background my Experian score is 667 and I'm looking for a Heloc or Home Equity loan of about 35k. I make about 60k a year. In 2020 I had 2 late mortgage payments due to covid before I found out about the mortgage forbearance which I then signed up for, however the mortgage forbearance now shows up as ND on my credit report. I tried a local credit union who denied me based on the late payments. I am currently working with AmeriSave but they are saying that the ND on my credit report have to be explained. I contacted my current mortgage lender to request documents for that but I don't know how long that will take. Any advice on what else I can do in this situation?
Ed Jones - Ed Jones CFP's response to my question
Not sure if this is allowed, but here goes:
My employer retirement $ is with Empower, and 100% of it in a **T Rowe Price 2025** fund. I'll only be working for them for 5 years tops, and this $ will not be a big factor in retirement. This TRP 2025 has done great, barely lost anything at all. *Most* of our $ is with Ed Jones, and one of the funds they have me in is **TRP Large Cap Growth** fund. This fund is not doing as well as the 2025. It may be important to know that I am not contributing anything new to Ed Jones, this $ is growing / declining as funds do. They have me in a ratio of growth / stability appropriate for my age (62, want to retire at 65).
I asked the Ed Jones, guy, "The TRP 2025 is doing great, the Large Cap Growth is not doing as well, is there a compelling reason to NOT to move from the Large Cap and into the 2025?"
Ed Jones guy answers with "The market goes up and down, don't watch the news so much, we're re-investing dividends and buying low. Dips happen and then we recover..." or words to that effect.
***It's like he didn't answer my question, I know the market goes up / down, I'm not saying "sell everything" in a panic. SO, is he just dodging my question for some reason? Are there valid reasons to NOT switch from one TRP fund to another?***
UnitedHealthcare - Insurance company won't provide cost estimate. Neither will provider. Who's lying?
My Dr wants to enroll me in a weight loss support group program. I have a high deductible plan with UHC so I will essentially be paying out of pocket until I meet my annual deductible. Dr's office asked me to call my insurance to check if it's covered, and they told me the billing codes. UHC said it's covered, but the cost ranges from $30-250 (per 20 minute session) depending on what the provider charges. They will pay 90% after I meet my deductible. They say that they don't know how much a particular provider will charge. I asked my Dr what they would charge, and they said the price is set by the insurance company. Who is lying?
Embrace - Embrace Issues
I’ve used Embrace for over 11 years for my 4 pound chihuahua. Overall, it was a great experience. Dog is mostly healthy, has had 2 knee surgeries, but that’s it. I have cap on amount 15k per year, and an affordable deductible….until now. Just got notice today that they are upping my premiums 107% per month next year bc reasons?!?!? It’s now a small mortgage w/o explanation or justification. Has this been happening to anyone else? Is this increase legal? Is there anything that can be done about it? Insurance sucks in general, but seems extremely predatory to take my free money all these years, just f me when my boy, who could easily live to be 20, gets older. Almost begging me to cancel the policy.
null - On the hook for deductable after Dr. changed claim details
So I've been going to a psychiatrist practitioner for more than 2 years now. I've paid a $25 copay each visit. I've never had to pay a deductible, it's always been the same practitioner as well. Out of the blue in January I get sent a bill that is many many times the cost of my copay, with the bill stating that it's my deductible.
I called my clinic and they tell me nothing's changed, that the insurance was sending back that it was out of network and that they'll resubmit. I called the insurance and they let me know that in the past they were filing claims as a family practitioner, but now they're filing as psychiatry/specialist which is subject to my deductible. They mentioned that I could file a dispute, but that everything did look accurate and they're not sure how or why it was charged as general practice before. When I called my clinic back they told me they'd been bought out and that the practice is a specialist clinic and told me basically they don't care how it was charged before.
I am very frustrated. I went ahead and cancelled my next appointment and am looking for options to continue on my medicine. I'm hoping my old family doctor might be able to pick up the prescription. Not sure what else I can do.
I would not have went in for my visit had I known it was going to cost me multiple months of rent. And all just so she can ask me 3 minutes of questions and write the same prescription I've gotten for the past year.
Is there anything I can do to get out of paying this bill? I was not told before hand that anything was changing. I know it's more complex than this but I can't help but feel like I'm being scammed out of my money.
Also does this not sound borderline fraudulent? How can a practice go from being general practice to specialist without undergoing major changes. If they are a specialist now, how were they not before??
Anyways, I just needed to vent this out I guess. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. God bless the American Healthcare system.
Pets Best - Im real broke these days, Dog turned 8 and insurance doubled
My dog just turned 8 and her insurance with pets best doubled. Where im at financially is not great, im just able to get by with my exisiting bills, part of why i have pet in isurance, for the chance something terrible happens like a broken tooth or torn tendon or whatever may happen. Shes healthy. Has allergies but theyre not on her med record as far as i know. I just am trying ti debate if i should set the money aside each month for an emergency fund for her, rather than pay the insurance fee. My fear is something qill happen before i have a good savings, though i usually try to have $1000 emegency money for pet or car stuff, im not quite there yet atm. I have decent credit so if something happe ef im sure i can do a payment plan of some sort. Idk im just wondering if its worth it anymore at the price theyre expecting. My 3 yo dog is clumsy as hell so im keeping his insurance. I just know theres going to be a day he falls the wrong way and tears a tendon or something hahaha!
Any advice is really welcome, im just so broke these days and i really want to find the best option that ensures my pup can get the treatment she may need in an emergency.
old insurance company - Suspended Permit, Insurance Issue, Court Coming Up Lawyer or Public Defender?
So a state trooper pulled me over the other day because my license plates were suspended. Turns out my old insurance company didn’t notify the MVA when I switched providers, so the plates got flagged.
The trooper asked for my license — I only have a learner’s permit — and I handed it over, along with my passenger’s license since he has a full one. When the trooper came back, he told me that my permit was suspended and then took it from me.
I went to the MVA and paid a $400 fine for the plates, and while I was there, they told me my permit was suspended because I never completed a Driver Improvement Program (DIP) from two years ago. Thing is — I actually did complete it.
I called the driving school, and they admitted they forgot to submit the completion to the MVA. They basically just said “sorry,” but now I’ve got a court date, and the letter says there’s a possibility of jail time.
Now I’m freaking out. I’ve got about $1,000 to my name. Should I try to hire a lawyer, or go with a public defender? I really don’t want to risk going to jail over something like this.

State Farm - Supplemental check for Car Accident , should I cash it?
Long story short I was in a car accident and State Farm went from saying my car was a total loss , then now not total loss. I didn’t accept it because my car is undrivable. I have been fighting them for months and I am in process for interviewing attorneys.. I lost my job and my home because I haven’t been able to work without a car. It’s been months. I went onto my account today and I saw a check for $2200 it said supplemental payment. I called and an agent that wasn’t my adjuster, because it’s the weekend & she stated that it was for damage from the car accident that they are paying for.
My question is if I cash this check in my screwing myself to go forward and suing them for more money and for what the car is worth.? I know that you can cash a check in New York State and reopen a claim. However, I’m not sure about going forward and suing if you accept the money.
I know that on a paper check sometimes it will state that you waive your right to sue them in the future. The paper check would include accompanying documentation often with a waiver stating you release further claims by accepting it.
However, it is a digital check.
I really do need the money so I don’t know what to do and 72 hours to cash a digital check will be up by tonight, I also noticed on my account that the claim is closed and the car was a total loss!? Any advice on what I should do with this check would be greatly appreciated !

AAA - Insurance company trying to force owner retention of totalled vehicle
My car was hit by someone who took responsibility for the accident. We went through their insurance company and took the car to the repair shop they recommended. While at the shop, they doubled the estimate of the repair work leaving the car disassembled, as the insurance company wanted to declare it a total loss. I told the insurance company to work out the financial settlement with the finance company, as the loan was still larger than the value. The finance company sent the insurance company a letter of guarantee and I signed the DNV documents transferring ownership to the insurance company. The insurance company then deducted the salvage cost from the settlement and said they would tow the vehicle to my home. This is not a vehicle I want or agreed to retain, as the vehicle is not currently drivable, and the effort to make it so is not in my best financial interest. They are attempting to force the vehicle back into my possession. Is there anything I can do to prevent them from forcing me to retain possession of the vehicle, given they have the signed documents necessary to transfer ownership once the lien is paid? This is CA and the insurance company is AAA.
Molina Healthcare - Healthcare/insurance help?
Hey all I have to choose between some state medi-cal options for health insurance. The choices are community health, Molina healthcare and Blue shield healthcare. I've already dealt with Molina and I don't like them for my needs. So it's: Community Health vs. Blue shield.
Context: My mother and I ( 55 F & 26 F) both suffer from certain health issues and will need specialists treatment, physical therapy and possibly even cardiology treatments (fingers crossed none of it is harmful). Some of these may even be genetic or hereditary, so appropriate testing and treatment are very important. We have either been diagnosed or have a probable diagnosis of some of these below 👇
Examples:
•reynard's syndrome (a type of nerve condition)
• Rheumatoid Arthritis
• Wiggly Joints (causes wear of the joints and hyper mobility)
Just to name a few.
What I'm looking for is are there any miracle stories? Horror stories? Good experiences or bad? Which choice sounds the best for our needs of anyone can relate to us or has any experience looking for these things.
TIA so much.
P.S. I am still figuring out reddit so I may not be able to edit the post BUT I will reply in comments! Thank you!
