I just talked with Pets Best as I have a 30% increase in my premium for this next year (3 year old dog). They said they have changed underwriters and if I get a rewrite the new underwriter premiums are about the same price I have been paying (so 30% lower then the previous underwriter). I know all of the waiting periods would restart and no preexisting conditions (the only condition she has had they already denied saying it was preexisting (I had to switch after Many Pets stopped covering in my State)). Has anyone done this rewrite? Any one know if the new underwriter is better or worse vs the old?

I have a 4-year-old French Bulldog, and we previously used Nationwide for her pet insurance. Unfortunately, we just found out they dropped our policy without any reason. I have been looking around for other pet insurance companies but feel frustrated by the pre-existing condition coverage. We signed up for trupanion but they want records of our last 2 years and my pet has a few things in the notes that I think will totally screw us going forward like itchy paws, a hurt pack, and previous GI bugs/UTIs. Has anyone found a good insurance company that will not be so harsh about not covering pre-existing conditions? Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

Aside from the appalling over 100% premium increase in my renewal this year because my dog turned 10, I've noticed two new things in my Fetch policy. If you have more than 50 claims they can remove discounts and lower coverage. I always knew if you had a lot of claims it would cost you BUT how is the 50 counted? Every prescription claim counts? My dog gets 4 prescriptions a month, some only 10 bucks but it might increase my plans because of the number 50?? Next is the sublimit on prescriptions. Shouldn't be surprised when I saw them add their own pharmacy option. So if you use their preferred pharmacy that's waived. Great. But 2 of my dogs prescriptions are compounded eye drops and not available on their site. Nothing I can do about that? Has anyone ran into issues with these two new policy changes? Mostly worried about the claim one. I probably submit 4 to 5 a month of just meds. I used to put them all in one claim once a month but they kept messing up that way 🙄

In April 2024, I had a couple of procedures done, such as fillings, cleanings, root canals, and crowns. I was pregnant at the time, so I had to delay the crowning, but I had the imprints done beforehand. At my consultation appointment in April, my dentist reviewed the treatment plan and the costs. I knew that I would have to pay out of pocket for some of these procedures. When I went in for my first filling and root canal appointment, the office told me that my dental insurance didn't cover some of the costs. I knew this and was okay with whatever the updated pricing was. Paid $606 for the first appointment, and went on with my life. At the second appointment in May, I went in for the crown imprint, and at this appointment, I paid off the remainder of the treatment plan cost before I even got the services done (with the updated pricing that my EOB said wasn't covered). I paid $552 out of pocket. Several months later, in April of 2025, I kept on getting these calls with no sensible voice messages saying "this is a debt collector". No effort was made by my dentist over the year to let me know of this balance. I checked my dental insurance claims, and the claim was rejected for code D3910, which I knew was already rejected when I went in for my last appointment. Now I am confused why my dentist is saying that the insurance rejected it when I already paid off my balance. What should I do, and am I liable for the debt? Should I speak to the debt collector or the dental office? This was in California, and the insurance is with United Concordia. Not sure if this matters.

Got rear-ended at a standstill last week by a new driver. Filed a claim with his insurance (Allstate). Their adjuster gave me a list of preferred shops — only one (a chain) has good reviews, but Reddit has a lot of horror stories about this chain (not my exact location though). I have a local, independent shop I trust. Allstate says I can use any shop, but the adjuster got vague when I asked about downsides of going out-of-network. Redditors in r/AutoBody warn against in-network shops since they supposedly work more for the insurer than the customer. I'm just worried about delays, surprise costs, or Allstate refusing to pay. I don't want this to turn into a massive ordeal or be without my vehicle for too long. That said, I had some other body work I wanted my local shop to do (which I’d be paying out of pocket for), so it would be convenient to “kill two birds with one stone” to take it to them and let them handle all the repairs at once — versus having the chain handle my insurance repair and then turning around and having to go back to the local shop for the other work. What would you do — play it safe with the insurance recommended chain shop, or stick with the local / independent shop I trust?

I have Wishbone pet insurance, and they are very slow to response for either. Everyone has been very nice, but my claim just got denied for 6 months after my dog ruptured her CCL. What is frustrating is she had the zoomies on 5/3/2025 and that is when she tore her CCL. My waiting period is 5/9/2025. Am I just out of luck and 5 days is the difference between 3k out of pocket?

Hi, I recently canceled my joint insurance policy that was under my brother and i's names. They sent a refund but the check is only in his name, I asked if they could send another check in my name because he's not available to cash it, and they said that his name was the only one on the pay account for the policy even though the policy was in both of our names, so state farm will not issue another check in just my name, or in both of our names. Is there any way for me to cash it? I'm the only one that paid the bill for insurance for 2-3 years using my card, in my name every month. And I think it's a little stupid they won't issue another refund to me specifically, when it's my money being refunded. Any help or advice at all would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Was on family vacation when burglars robbed our home and ran away with our jewelry and watches adding up to $49K. Insurance (AAA) denied claim and paid $2500 for sub limit and for damages to the home adding up to $6K. I did not realize we were supposed to appraise each item, until this episode. I had a personal property coverage of up to $150K. Any guidance on how I may recover more here?

My dog is about to turn 10 and they want $160/m now. Should I switch, and if so where to?

I have a senior cat who just turned 14. I had him since 1 year, and always had Banfield, thinking that was the insurance. (To make me feel less bad, pet insurance wasn't a thing back then :( so please don't blame me too much.) My other cat who was 14, passed away recently, and all the bills left me in burden. So I heard about the insurance, and was trying to sign up for my other one, but I've also heard about insurance nightmare stories. I'm now really worried that they would just deny everything, saying it was a pre-existing condition. I would truly truly appreciate if there is a way to ensure coverage based on my current situation: * Everything is recorded in Banfield, where I took him regularly for his routine checkup since I brought him home. * My cat is chonky (24 lbs) * Already had asthma when I brought him as a kitten (but it wasn't severe and got better so no treatment was given) * Last October, the doctor said he has heart murmur 3/6 and put that in the note * They also noted he has a tartar on his teeth (would that make any dental related disease claim denied?) My biggest concern is the heart murmur... would they just deny everything heart related? Any tips and advice would truly be appreciated. Thank you so so much.
