Spot - I guess Spot is a good one
I got a cat in November and enrolled her under Spot, starting a plan at $17.87 / month.
I took her to the vet in December to check why this otherwise healthy cat had no interest in chewing food, and they said they said she had a bad case of FORL and they recommended removing the impacted teeth, which were most likely causing her pain.
I submitted two claims to Spot, one for the first visit in December and one for the expensive teeth removal surgery in February. For both, I only attached the vet invoices which included the vet medical notes.
Initially, both claims were rejected for lack of inclusive information about my cat's health, meaning the SOAP notes. I ended up finding and submitting the form that was given to me from the shelter when I got her, which only contained her vaccinations, record of spaying and a mention of medicine for diarrhea. I explained to Spot that was all I had, and no one knew anything about my cat's health in her life prior to the shelter.
Just a few days later, I got notified that they had approved both claims reimbursing me $21 out of the $78 visit and $288 out of the $697 surgery.
**That means that my total annual billing for the insurance is $214 ($17.87 x 12) and by March alone I have already been reimbursed $309. I'll take it.**

Northwestern Mutual - Life and disability insurance question
Hi everyone, I got to this forum after seeing some "NW mutual life insurance is a scam" posts and i'm not sure if I got scammed. I was in medical training when a financial adviser told me about getting disability and life insurance.. with NW mutual... I'm 35 years old, very healthy, I pay about 87$ for 2M Term to 80 policy with no annual dividend. And my premium for disability is $110.. Looking for advice if I should switch to a different broker (if thats an option) or just general advice.
Blue Cross Blue Shield - Collections called asking for payments but did not charge me correctly
Last June, I went to urgent care because I was leaving for a vacation out of the country the next day and started feeling sick. I couldn’t get into my primary doctor before leaving and just wanted a steroid shot or antibiotics to avoid being miserable during my trip. I went to an urgent care near my job, knowing it would be more expensive than my normal copay. I usually pay a $25 copay at my primary doctor, but urgent care costs $50. When I arrived and checked in, the receptionist asked for my insurance cards, which I provided. I’m double insured, as I’m still on my parents' insurance, but I use my insurance as primary and my parents’ as secondary. I’ve never had any issues with this setup and typically don’t have medical bills because of it. The receptionist asked if another name (I assumed it was another patient) was on my insurance policy. I confirmed that I’m the only one on my insurance policy and explained that my parents’ insurance is secondary. Both of my insurances are Blue Cross Blue Shield, though I’m not sure if that matters.
The receptionist seemed confused but said, "Okay, it’s going to be expensive, but your copay is $50." I agreed, since I felt awful, and paid with my HSA card. I was only tested for strep and flu (both negative) and was diagnosed with a sinus infection, for which I received a steroid shot.
Fast forward to my trip abroad, where I had to visit a doctor at my resort, pay $500, and was diagnosed with bronchitis and the flu. Last week, I received a call from a collections service saying I owed $244 for my urgent care visit. I asked how that could be possible since I was double insured, but they couldn’t answer. I called the urgent care, and they directed me to their billing number. After waiting for an hour and a half on hold, I was told I owed the amount. I asked again why, given my double insurance, and they said they only had my parents' insurance on file, and that their insurance had denied the claim. I asked why it was denied, explaining that my primary insurance at the time was through my job and my parents’ was secondary. They asked to put me on hold to investigate, but the call was dropped.
I called back and was on hold for 45 minutes. I then received a call from an unfamiliar number, and the voicemail said the call had been disconnected and to call back to resolve the issue. I called back and reached a different urgent care I’d never heard of. I asked for the person who left the voicemail, and they said they didn’t know anyone by that name. I explained the situation, and the person said they had been receiving similar calls from others and advised me to be careful with the information I shared, as they were unsure if their office number had been linked with spam.
I then went to the original urgent care, which is 10 minutes from my job, and asked for clarification. They explained that my primary insurance was never added to my account, but when I went in for clarification, they added it to my file. Since their billing has been outsourced to a third-party company, they can no longer access statements or accept payments. They directed me to that number but said they would speak to their manager and call me back since they’ve received multiple complaints since moving to this company.
I’m unsure what to do now, as the urgent care never billed my insurance correctly, and the bill has now gone to collections. Any advice on how to proceed?
Blue Cross Blue Shield - Coordination of benefits when one plan is inactive?
My son has two insurance policies, one with me and one with his Dad. Both plans are with BCBS.
Dr office called to tell me they can't run the claim because BCBS website is showing that he is inactive on Dads plan. Dad says plan should be fine. So no idea why the Dr office is seeing that.
I asked if they could just run it under mine and they sad it won't work because Dads plan is inactive and the my plan won't pay until it's resolved.
This doesn't make sense to me. Why would it not process with my plan just because Dad's plan is inactive? Wouldn't this be the same as my son only having one insurance plan now and run it without the secondary attached?
Can someone break this down for me?
Lemonade - Keep Lemonade or just use a Savings Account?
I have a 12-year-old corgi who is very healthy (just had his exam and he’s in great shape) and he’s been insured by Lemonade for several years. I always have paid more in premiums than claims, and that’s fine. Insurance is about covering the unexpected.
I got his insurance renewal from Lemonade and they want to increase his premium from $150/mo to $220/mo. I mean, I get it, actuarially he’s a higher risk. It’s been going up really fast.
I’m thinking of instead of paying the $220/mo, just putting the monthly amount into a savings account and just save for when those big expenses come.
Has anyone done this, successfully? I figure that lemonade is going to keep increasing the premiums to levels that are unaffordable and do want to push me out of the system. But I want to cover the unexpected somehow.
I cannot switch carriers because no one is going to insure a 13-year-old dog. It’s either stay with them and throw money at premiums or start saving money for the future.
State Farm - State Farm's Drive Safe & Save doesn't work on the app
Ever since they merged it with the main app, it hasn't worked for me. The tab just says "Something went wrong and we can't display your Drive Safe & Save info right now." How do I get it to work? I just got an email saying I need to complete steps on that tab or else I will lose my discount.
Travelers - POC Information
Hey Team, if I get 'ghosted' by an adjuster how would one find their manager's contact information so I can send them an email? This is for Travelers in the Mid-Atlantic Region USA.
Still haven't gotten any reimbursement for my personal property after a fire... and several attempts to contact them.
NatGen - NatGen
Don’t trust this company! We had our mortgage insurance one year from 2170 to the following year 4340! Double! Well our dwelling went from 356,000 to 375,000.
State Farm - Should State Farm replace all tires?
I got hit by a motor cycle and they were at fault. It destroy one of my wheels and tires.
State Farm will replace the one tire. I want all 4 tires replaced bc it’s 4 wheel drive grand Cherokee and the owners manual states to keep all tires the same circumference. Basically don’t put one brand new tire with 3 used tires bc it can possibly damage the drive train.
I’m pushing back bc I want them all done. What your take?
At Faults Insurance - At Faults insurance won’t pay enough for rental
I drive a large suv and I was hit. The other party was 100% at fault. Their insurance company had me send in photos of the damage, and called me today with an estimate. He explained they will mail me a check for their estimate amount and that they will pay $25 a day for a rental. In my area the smallest economy car is $60 a day so what they are paying won’t even cover that. What can I do? I am in no way at fault and I don’t believe my insurance should pay anything
