ASPCA - Don't waste your time or money
ASPCA Pet Insurance has been a complete disappointment. They 𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓪𝔂 processing documentation while simultaneously rushing to deny claims - they denied multiple separate claims, claiming they "couldn't obtain documentation" despite my uploading all requested documents the day before the denials were issued.
The timing alone proves they never actually reviewed the documentation I provided. When I had to resubmit everything via email and request reconsideration, it became apparent that this is likely a standard practice to 𝓭𝓮𝓷𝔂 legitimate claims without proper review.
More recently, they've denied additional claims for one of my cats with zero explanation whatsoever - claims that should clearly be covered under the policy terms. When challenged, they 𝓭𝓮𝓯𝓮𝓷𝓭 their inexplicable decisions rather than provide actual justification. If I had the time and resources, I'd 𝓭𝓮𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓮 their executives under oath about these practices.
The pattern is unmistakable: collect premiums, create processing delays, deny first, then defend the indefensible when customers fight back. This isn't insurance - it's legalized theft through bureaucratic obstruction.
For a company trading on the ASPCA name and reputation, its claims handling is disgracefully predatory. It's happy to take your premiums but will use every procedural trick to avoid paying when your pet needs care.
Save yourself the frustration and find an insurer that actually honors its policies -- or better yet, deposit the money you would have spent on premiums into an interest-bearing account and pay yourself back when needed.
ASPCA Pet Insurance appears designed to collect premiums while systematically denying legitimate claims through "processing errors" and unexplained rejections.
ASPCA - dishonest compmany …
This comp[any has been borderline dishonest trying to block my very legitimate claim. Demanding Medical records for the last 2 years when thy only said the waiting period was seveeral weeks for new claims. I submitted the records which show this is a new claim and they send me emails denying they received them which is a lie they arejust trying to get out of paying a legitimate claim. allan M. ASPCA - Denied claim
I submitted a claim in 2024 for my pet’s allergies. I then submitted a claim in 2025 for a visit to the vet for an ear issue. At the same visit, we asked for a new prescription for his allergies. The claim was denied because they state that the ear issues related to his allergies, which is false. I will be dropping the insurance since I’m paying a lot of money every year for claims to be denied.
ASPCA - I cannot even get into my account
I cannot even get into my account. It says I have to register and so I try to register. Then it tells me I’m already registered and to sign in so I sign in. Well none of my passwords are working so I clicked forget password. Then it tells me I’m not registered. It’s a pain.
ASPCA - I have submitted several claims for my…
I have submitted several claims for my dog now and it always seems to be something as to why they won't cover it. The first one was super frustrating because they said it was a preexisting condition despite my vet literally submitting a document that clarified the actual symptom start date within the coverage period and they still won't cover it. Then the next claim they are saying they won't cover because the Dr isn't on some recommended list that isn't mentioned anywhere in any of the coverage docs... I'm more than a little frustrated and definitely am feeling like the monthly premium I pay for his coverage is a money grab and a waste of my money!
I also have my horses covered, and just submitted my first claim for one of them, and they are trying to deny coverage because there isn't enough medical history... uh ya they weren't sick or injured so they didn't go to the vet for anything but routine shots... so how could there be medical history other than that? Ridiculous.
ASPCA - Manipulating definition of 'PRE-EXISTING CONDITION"
I got this insurance because I needed help diagnosing my dog's eating problem. I went to 2 different vets for a diagnosis. When I submitted a claim for the second one, they wouldn't pay it because I had gone to the first vet for the same issue. Therefore, they called it a pre-existing condition. I thought such conditions were ones established before I got the insurance; also ones which had been diagnosed. I felt this was a sneaky way to avoid payment. Basically, for conditions which are not preventitive, they only reimburse you for one time your pet is treated for a specific reason, after you have paid the high deductible. This pretty much defeats the purpose of getting insurance, if you ask me. I will say the insurance was useful only for preventive treatment, which has no deductible. I'm not sure if that is also only a one-time reimbursement for things that are on-going, such as regular shots.
ASPCA - Do not use fraudulent company
I submitted a claim for a critical and necessary surgery—our dog had bone exposed. ASPCA Pet Insurance repeatedly claimed they never received the medical records and closed the claim. I resubmitted everything, only to be told it was now a duplicate—and they closed it again.
This company is a total FRAUD. I’m cancelling my policy immediately. They cheat American consumers and jeopardize the health of our pets with their shady practices and endless runarounds.
ASPCA Insurance, you are a disgrace. The worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with.
ASPCA - Unbelievable
Unbelievable. I paid out for years. I had accidental only yet still paid $50 every month for over 5 years. My dog died suddenly and accidentally but I received zero compensation. Worst pet insurance. They totally scam people. You won’t get anything.
ASPCA - I have paid into this pet insurance for…
I have paid into this pet insurance for a year recently. I visited the vet for the first time for a wellness check for both of my kittens. I have the complete care coverage and the preventative basic and it says no wait time and you don't have to meet a deductible for the wellness check. I paid $300 out of pocket because you have to pay out of pocket before they reimbursed you. Which if I would have known I was going to be denied both claims and had to fight them and still fight them after paying a year into the insurance I would have not put myself dead broke for the month I would have financed better....I would have never paid into this scam. only for them to fight me over. $90 on one and $70 on the other is disgusting They should be ashamed of themselves. It's a rip. So basically I'm paying out of pocket regardless and I would have paid out of pocket without paying a Year's worth of fees. So I'm actually out a s*** ton of money.
ASPCA - Disappointed in ASPCA PET INSURANCE
I have been an ASPCA customer for over 2 decades. They used to be wonderful & I sung their praises in prior reviews. Now, I will never donate to The Guardian Plan, nor will I carry my pet insurance with them ever again. Not trusting The Guardian Plan??? It is difficult for me to reach that point, but they earned my distrust over the last few years. I love animals & will continue to do things that support rescue efforts, but it will never happen via the ASPCA ever again. I have been a pet insurance policy holder for well over 2 decades & I now see that greed is the driving force. I work in a management capacity with a large international company & I know that profits are massively important. I also know that integrity should always be at the forefront of anything that a corporation does, so that we maintain the trust & transparency that any customer needs, in order to maintain a positive relationship. The ASPCA’s repeated failures to keep my trust have led to me canceling my partnership with them with regard to both my insurance coverage and my Guardian Plan participation. It saddens me to pull my financial support from an organization that I once felt deeply held the same convictions towards the protection of animals that I hold dear. I attempted to express my displeasure on some direct phone conversations. I felt that it was important for me to speak to someone personally so that I might properly express where I was coming from. I was met with some very polished “Corporate Talk.” I was impressed by the resources that had obviously been utilized to prepare their customer service staff to rebuke the kinds of poor customer service that they were providing. They clearly felt their money was much better spent on training their customer service staff to provide spin for the concerns that their customers brought forth, rather than just paying out on the claims that their customers had been paying for over the course of years. I felt it was important for me to share my experience so that someone else, who may be relying on the organization to hold true to their word, might not have the rug pulled out from under them. It may not sound like it from this review, but it really does sadden me to see how a once good organization no longer lives up to their promises.
