Had 2 trees uproot one June 19th, one which put a big gouge in the roof and another broke a window in the family room. We have Erie Insurance, so this was in the middle of their IT outage. Luckily, we had ServPro button up the house pretty quickly. Erie was good with that, even though it took a week to get a claim number for ServPro. But after that, things have been moving at a glacial pace. Erie reached out on June 30th to say they were assigning a field adjuster. That adjuster finally showed up on July 7th. They mentioned putting the need for a structural engineer to look at the roof trusses, and they would put that in their report. They said it would take 2-3 days before the report would be shared with us. When we contacted Erie on Friday, July 11th regarding our report … our desk adjuster is out of office until Wednesday the 16th!!! Is this kind of timeline typical? I know the they had an outage. But it’s been almost a month since the incident. And between clearing the huge trees, the structural engineer, and time for the actual repairs … it will be at least another month before the house is repaired.

Was with another major isuance player, and was dissatisfied on their customer service. Will be nice and not mention the name. Erie Insurance was recommended to me by family member. Thhey have been with them for years and satisfied with their agent. I called Erie for a quote last month bu they were havig system issues. Agent advised they would call me back when resolved. It took almost 3 weeks (they called Thursday. So what do you think of Erie? Would you be timid about a company that was 'down' for almost 3 weeks (unable to service existing policies or quote new policies)?

We purchased (with a mortgage) our house April 2023 in WV. Sorting and opening mail today. I opened an envelope from Erie Insurance assuming it was my renewal paperwork. No it's a policy continuation notice for a tenant policy held in someone's name I'm not affiliated with in anyway (it is addressed to them but did not realize as I just opened without looking assuming it was my policy info). 20k personal property coverage with a monthly premium of $245. We're new to the area, having moved here from TN and have kept to ourselves. Small town with a population of barely 2k. So I 💯 do not know the person or have ever spoken to them. The kicker? When I look this person up he's a cop for my county. And the agent that wrote this policy is 5 blocks from my house off the main road thru town. WTF do I do here? I'm concerned that this is a policy held by a local younger cop near me. A LONG time ago this was a multi unit home, but the previous owner we purchased from owned for 10 years as a single family home so it's not likely it's a policy that has just been continually carried over (why I mentioned they're younger) for the last 10+ years.

So long story short was involved in minor car accident that I was not at fault for , this happened on 3/3/2025 and I didn’t get any information from the adjuster after having the car looked at until I decided to call to see what was going on and they somehow missed to file something so I didn’t hear back until 3/27/2025. The adjuster was adamant about me signing and cleaning my car out from the place that repaired it which I did a few days later , which it was considered a total loss and I received the estimate/ Salvage value and all of that again a few days later after having to ask for it. Now since then I cannot get a hold of anyone I’ve sent countless emails and phone calls and just today text messages to the Total Salavage department of Erie Insurance as I didn’t even agree to the repair costs or the amount they want to give back to me , I’m unsure what to do currently I just would like a status of where my vehicle is even at , I wanted to at least have one more shop to check it out and get a second opinion but now it just seems unfeasible at this point having to wait and wait and wait, so yeah first accident never dealt with anything like this so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

A couple weeks back I was moving into my new apartment complex, and had the door on my vehicle cracked open while I went inside to move what I was carrying before coming back out. While inside my apartment building, I received a call from the office telling me someone had hit my car. I went down to the parking lot and a man was waiting next to his truck for me. He claimed the wind had blown my door open while he was backing into the space, and that he had looked at his camera and it was closed and then he started backing up and heard it crack. The door is off its hinge, and the corner is folded over... it still shuts but it will most likely need a new door. He profusely apologized and gave me all his insurance info and contact information. His agent calls back after I file the claim (Erie), and tells me that they will not be covering the claim and that my insurance would be responsible because the wind blew it open and "there's no way he could have looked at all his mirrors 100% of the time, and its you're fault for leaving the door cracked, allowing it to blow open into his path". Since sentry mode was off ( I have a model 3), and my apartment's surveillance camera was down at the time, there is no way to show if the door was already open or had blown open. My insurance deductible is $1,000 and I don't have that at all right now. Also if I choose to do that, I'll spike my insurance for the next 2 yrs of my lease. Do I go to a lawyer?? I don't even know if I can afford one. I have no clue what to do, and I feel like my only option is to wait 2 years and hopefully fix it out of pocket before my lease ends.... but then I would be out 2/3k for a new door. Someone help me out here....what do I do?

Got the new 2025 Auto Insurance invoice from Erie Insurance. The only thing I can figure is one of my adult sons hit an unknown object lying in the middle of the turnpike late at night that resulted in some damage to one of our cars. It wasn't anyone's fault and Erie ended up paying out about $3,500 for repairs. Just got a letter from Erie Insurance a few weeks ago that my broker was dropping Erie and I need to find new insurance. I have a damaged chimney that I was planning on having an adjuster out to investigate to see if it was covered or not. I noticed the damage months ago, but decided to get quotes from brick masons before calling my agent. It took a very long time to even get anyone who would show up to quote it for me. Was told that it was structural and the chimney needed to be demoed down to the roof line and rebuilt, adding some new lintel. Quote was $7,500. I called my insurance agent and left messages on a few occasions. There does seem to be water damage under the roof, but I think it’s on old repair from where I had the chimney flashing and sheeting replaced around the base of the chimney at the roof years ago. So a few weeks ago, I get a letter stating that my policy was not renewing. I just talked to my broker and mentioned the potential claim (probably stupid move on my part) and what to do. After some questions, it looks like if I start a claim with Erie, it will show up on reports the new company can see and will have an open claim without a disposition. I could just jump ship altogether and get a new policy and hope they don’t do an inspection and find the chimney damage. I obviously need to get this fixed, and I will, but the timing of all this is terrible. If I can’t get a new policy because there is existing damage, there will be a lapse in coverage which could also screw me. Anyone got any advice? I’m thinking of just rolling the dice with a new claim and hope for no inspection, get the chimney fixed out of pocket and move on with my life. My dad recently switched from Erie to Farmer’s and they didn’t require any inspection that I’m aware of.
