Geico - Does this sound right?
Bear with me as I’m a bit new to car insurance renewals, (this is my first car)! 😭 I have Geico
So my renewal date is this month and it’s stated in email that the amount due is $353… my regularly scheduled amount paid a month is $240.
I wasn’t sure if the $353 was just a renewal fee for now and after paying I would go back to paying $240 OR if the $353 was my new monthly payment.
I didn’t want to wait and find out so I went to my Geico app and had a chat with a representative.
I asked and was told:
“I really appreciate your patience here! Okay, so the reason for the double payment you are seeing is because, although this plan does not require autopay, it does require you to be paid ahead. Since you were no longer enrolled into autopay your payment planned switch over to this plan at your renewal. If you were to decide to reenroll; your payments would all, be $237.28
monthly. But you'd need to make the payment of $237.28 on or before August 19th to be eligible. Once you do, you'll have the option to enroll and switch back over to the regular monthly plan.”
This confused me because in email it says I owe $353 so I feel obligated to pay that and not ignore it. To confirm I asked them to clarify and was told to do exactly that. Ignore it and it will adjust.
I responded:
No problem. So sorry but l'm a bit confused because it says I owe $353 by the 19th... so do you mean I pay that and it goes down to $237?
Or just ignore that and pay $237 on or before the 19th?
they responded:
“Correct, that is going to show this way since you're on the payment plan that requires you to be billed ahead. You pay the $237 and once you do, the billing will adjust when you enroll back into autopay and switch over to the regular monthly plan. Yep, you got it! Ignore that and it will adjust automatically once you enroll again.”
I went ahead and enrolled in auto pay and it adjusted my payments to $260 after paying the $353…I’m guessing it’s because I have to pay the $237 first and then enroll in autopay? I don’t know, I’m so confused… I’m thinking of calling instead of doing an online chat just to protect myself from the madness. It doesn’t feel right because it feels like I’m ignoring my bill especially since I didn’t even know I’d be paying a little less than my usual unless I spoke to a representative. Feels like a cheat code in a sense lol…
Lastly, I JUST realized that it was showing me the $260 as an updated payment (after the $353) the entire time on the email. I was just so in a rush. I’m all over the place, sorry lol… but that doesn’t change what the representative said so I’m still stumped.
Geico - Geico erroneously canceled my car insurance without notice
Two days ago, I had an online chat with a Geico representative about updating the odometer readings for the two cars on my policy. The chat was short and sweet and went smoothly.
Today, I saw a mysterious credit card refund from Geico and logged in to find out that Geico had cancelled my auto-policy on the day I had the online chat. I called Geico just now and was told my policy was cancelled because "I called them to say I had another insurance" which is rather odd. I asked the agent to check the chat log/history to verify that no such conversation happened, but he said he does not have access and would have his supervisor (who can access chats) call me later in day. I am still waiting for this call.
**What are my rights here?** Geico -- without notice -- put me and my spouse at unnecessary risk for two days as we have been driving uninsured without our knowledge. Is there anything I can do or ask for?
Geico - Geico breaking policy?
Hello!
I recently rear ended someone recently and this accident ended up totalling my car. I have geico insurance and they are stating that I only get 3 days with my rental car. My policy does not say that anywhere. They severely undervalued my car. I compared it to KBB and other cars with similar make and models and mileage. I sent them these and they told me to hire an independent appraiser. I don't have the funds to hire someone to do this. They are going to make me turn in my rental car before they even pay out any money so I can get a new vehicle. I have asked my adjuster to send me where in my policy it states this and they have been unable to provide me a location in my policy where anything that they are citing is stated.I am feeling a bit lost and hopeless and I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue before or if they have any advice. Any would be great! Thank you so much!
GEICO - Incredibly petty question about pedestrian (me) vehicle crash FL.
I'm probably going include an annoying amount of detail, so feel free to skip to the tl/dr.
A little more than a week ago, I was struck by a car while riding my bike on a sidewalk (legal in my area). The driver was turning right and only checked to his left. I slowed and thought he saw me (FL allows DARK tint). I was wrong. He impacted my tire and my knee only stopping when I stuck his passenger window with my fist.
My first words were "did you even fucking look?" at volume 24. That prompted a "calm down lady". I saw red about the same time that I noticed his EMT cadet uniform.
The officer who responded didn't ticket him. But the crash report is clear that he is at fault. The officer asked if I would be willing to allow the driver to pay out of pocket if the damage was property only. I'm not a monster wanting to throw barrels into the path of this young man's life so I had the wheel repaired and ignored the minor cosmetic stuff.
I texted him the $33 bill from my very reasonable bike guy. He swore he would send a check. (I do not want him having access to more information than he currently has). Well guess what? Yeah.
I'm just done. I want to make a claim on the policy on the police report. But it's GEICO, which us also my own insurance policy. Will the pidling petty little claim red flag me to my own carrier?
Tl/dr Emt cadet hit me with a car. Got very lucky with a tiny amount of damage. Will Geico ding me if I file a claim since he failed to self pay?
Geico - Insurance Premium Increased for Non At Fault, Passenger Claim?
Hello all! I was a passenger in a non at fault accident two years ago. My lawyer filed with the person that hit us, and then used my underinsured at the time too (with geico). We just switched insruance and our 6 month premium is 300 dollars more than if I didn't have that claim 2 years ago.
Is it normal to have my car insurnace go up because of a non-at fault claim where I was a passenger?
Thank you!
GEICO - GEICO to GEICO insurance claim issue
On July 24, I was involved in an accident in Houston, where the other car suddenly changed lanes on the highway and caused an accident. I called the police and the other driver accepted his fault. Police has made a incident report and seems like full report takes some time to come. We both had geico insurance. Police made the incident report and gave me the details of the other person's details, insurance policy and all but did ask me for anything. Now, when I call geico, they say that they have not yet gotten the other person's statement. I don't know what my options are. They also did not respond to my rental car issue and i had to get it myself. I missed couple of day of work as well due to the body pain. What should I do?
GEICO - Need advice. Car totaled
2019 Toyota Camry / New York / GEICO
My husband was running late to work today and on the way there, there was a slow car right before the entrance to his job. He went around that car and his car slid and hit into a pole. No one got hurt. He said the car drives fine, the damage seems to be on the cosmetic side hopefully but he doesn’t know for sure that nothings leaking or broken inside. None of the sensors are going off. I wish I could post a picture.
He contacted GEICO online since he’s still at work and couldn’t call. They made him take pictures without any detailed explanation about the state of the car and offered him 3k for the car.
We are 4K away from paying off that car. We are not in a financial state to just get a new car and we were so excited to finally stop the crazy payments on the car.
What do we do? Do we take the 3k and use it towards a new car? Or is there any chance to contact company directly and see if there’s a chance to fix the car? Sorry if my questions seem silly, I don’t know much about insurance or cars.
Just want to ease some of my husbands worries if I’m able and have a clear way forward. He’s shook up and freaking out about how stupid he was to make such a mistake especially when we were about to be done paying it off. If you have any advice thank you in advance.
GEICO - Car accident of three cars.
My father was heading home 5 minutes away from home actually. When I got a call from him saying that he had been in an accident. Since it was five minutes away, I rushed over there. When I arrived, a nice lady approached me while I was recording saying that it wasn’t my fathers fault and that the other two cars involved, a Charger and a Camry were racing, speeding down the street while swerving in and out of lanes. I spoke to another witness who blamed the Charger for going 80 mph in a 40 mile zone and said that the Charger caused the accident because he collided with the other Camry. All I know is that my father got hit, the driver of the Camry was taken to the hospital. Now, my father being the nervous man that he is told the officer that he was already turning left into the resident street. My father speaks very little English. Well the officer automatically blamed my father saying that the speed of the other cars didn’t matter because they had the right of way. Well when my father came home he clarified to me that he meant he was waiting in the yellow lane waiting to turn left into the resident street when suddenly the Camry and Charger were racing down the street. My father explained that the Charger hit the Camry on the side which led the Camry to lose control and hit my father head on. I gave the officer the witnesses numbers. The witnesses indeed said that the other two cars were speeding and yet he didn’t give them tickets so that’s a bummer. Now the Camry got a lawyer against my policy. Essentially everyone got claims against each other. Now, GEICO, the Camrys insurer sent a letter to my father stating that they would not be able to pay for his work truck because their investigation concludes that the Charger was at fault for not having proper lookout. I need advice on what to do. Does this mean that the Charger will be paying my father? Does this mean that since GEICO is saying that the Charger is at fault then the Camry should drop the suit against my insurance company? What do I do!!!! Please help.
['Geico', 'Chase'] - Cracked windshield on rental car
I'm insured with Geico in Texas, with a $1,000 deductible for both collision and comprehensive coverage, and I’m also enrolled in their rental reimbursement program. My car needed repairs, so I took it to the body shop and used Geico’s rental service to get a car from Enterprise. I paid about $50 in taxes and fees with my United MileagePlus Explorer card — Geico covered the rest of the rental.
While I was driving the rental, the windshield cracked. Enterprise later sent me a bill for $415. I contacted Geico, but they said they won’t cover it because the damage is below my $1,000 deductible. I also reached out to Chase (the MileagePlus Explorer card issuer), but they said the rental insurance benefit doesn’t apply because I didn’t pay for the entire rental with the card — Geico paid most of it — so they won’t cover it either.
So now I’m stuck with the $415 bill. Is there anything I can do here? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?
Geico - Waiting for Geico to cancel my policy and backdate refund
I emailed Geico to cancel my auto insurance policy on Wednesday and sent them proof that the car was disposed of. I asked for a prorated refund backdated to the date of disposal. I haven't received any email confirmation or anything as of Sunday. I can’t do this online because they don’t allow backdating online. How long should I wait before calling?
