GEICO - how do I bundle home + auto + umbrella and not overpay
CA folks — need some insurance wisdom.
New home in contract → current home becomes secondary. 2 autos + want an umbrella policy. Been with GEICO forever but they keep hiking rates.
What’s the smartest way to shop & compare bundled quotes for all of this in California’s nightmare insurance market? Any go-to brokers or tools you recommend?
Geico - Diminished Value Offer from Geico
On June 10th I was rear ended while stopped at a red light by a woman who was texting. She got out and immediately admitted fault and the incident was caught on my dashcam. Now, two months and ~$20k worth of repairs later, I have my car back. I drive a 2024 Kia Sportage, roughly 18.5k miles on it, top of the line trim package. Prior to the accident the car was in perfect condition. Geico (her insurance provider) has offered me $5k in diminished value. Is this worth even bothering with negotiation, or does the little guy always lose?

GEICO - GEICO wants me to get them the police report.
Hi Insurance!
I had a roommate with a mental health condition who wrecked my apartment when I was gone. They had to be medically detained for mental health reasons. I filed a claim right after and included police report number in it with list of items and proof of ownership. They said they accepted the proof of ownership and claim but want me to get them the copy of the police report. Now I have to wait 10 business days. Doesnt GEICO have like backend ops team or something that does this kind of work?
TLDR: GEICO wants me to get them the police report, which will take 3 weeks approximately (buffer included). Why cant they do this faster themselves?
Geico - What if I don’t know address of accident
My son damaged his car leaving a parking lot. He didn’t tell us for a few weeks (he parks with the passenger side near the garage wall so we never see that side) and can’t remember the address because he was lost in a scary part of town. He definitely drove over something because the frame behind the front passenger wheel well is bent.
Geico wants the address in case there is property damage. I’m pretty sure it was an abandoned lot and nobody cares about a piece of cement. I don’t even know what to say to them. I’ve explained the situation but they keep wanting an address.
It’s a 2 year old financed car that we bought brand new and have been with Geico for 10 years and have maybe 2 claims. This is my son’s first claim and he’s got no traffic violations or accidents but this. He’s 25.
Geico - Cheapest auto insurance opinions?
Hi all, I keep running into an issue where my auto insurance is OK then it goes up eventually which makes me want to look around. This past year I've been on a mission to reduce my expenses as much as possible. I cut a lot and the auto is a pain because I lock in a price then when I get it all set up it goes up eventually later. I got advertised a commercial about a site that offers "wholesale" insurance prices that apparently is cheaper because no middle man. I didn't recognize the site so to me it seemed weird so I avoided. I looked for a local broker in my city but they only rep a few companies, one I gave my info to like vin and they never sent me a quote or anything but I got an email that showed they were looking for rates on the carrier sites. That company appears to be out of business now, my city doesn't have many options with local people that can compare rates. Is my best bet to call bigger places individually like geico etc and just change companies each year when the premi
Geico - Did I just screw myself?
Hello! First time posting in this sub, I think this type of post is allowed. Long story short, I purchased an auto policy through Geico in mid-July for a car I am being gifted. I realized the next day that I wasn't going to be able to take ownership for 3-4 weeks and ended up calling to cancel the policy.
I called back today to restart the policy and they are quoting me $400+ more for exactly the same policy. Did I completely screw myself here? I told the agent I was going to shop around, which I am happy to do, but... what a pain. Is there a strategy I can use to have Geico honor the original quote?
Thank you in advance!!
Geico - Geico insurance going back on their word????
I am so lost.
Three days I received a call letting me know that an accident I had been in over a week ago was deemed to be the other party’s responsibility, and I was set up with the collision center and rental car. Today I receive a call that the claim the other driver made on my policy was found to be inconclusive, therefore they are now saying it’s word vs word and we both are liable???? They asked several of the same questions I had already explained to them. I told them the police did not arrive because I live in a high acuity city which is understandable. I even went to the police department after and they said in Texas they are not required to file a report “anymore”. I left feeling okay since I had pictures and explaining the accident would surely lead to the right solution! i was not at fault at all!
1. Why would they look at this as two separate claims? ( We both have Geico so I thought this would make it easier????)
2. Can they really go back on their word?
I asked to
Geico - Kicked off Geico car insurance
We were just kicked off our car insurance policy after 22 years of being loyal customers because my daughter filed a claim after an accident where she was not at fault, her 1y/o son was in the car at the time. Their reasoning for terminating our policy is that I didn’t list her then 3 month old son at the time of filling out the attention letter back in December. We’re in Michigan, how is this legal?
Geico - Uninsured
Had my payment coming up of $519 ( 2 payments of 259, lumped together) I instacart for my income and it had become too hot recently to do as much as normal. I let geico know i could pay some not the full amount due, representative told me pay what I can.. thinking it was notated on my acct and id be ok.. (8 years of coverage) I continued to work although I started training at the job I finally got hired for, taking away time to instacart.. long story short I saw Geico canceled me on 7/21, I found out a few days ago because I don’t check emails often. They usually text me. Im in NY, To reinstate I need to pay off my balance 389 + 300 for new coverage.. I don’t get paid until the 15th.. anything I can do? what do I need to be concerned about? any penalties.. etc. Really thought the representative did me a solid, why not say it would still cancel?!
