GEICO - Got quoted 300 last week now I’m getting quoted 500 same exact info
Got a quote from GEICO like around a week ago for 299 and month for full coverage, it’s the cheapest one I found compared to other insurance companies charging me 2x that at 18 I called GEICO and ran through the quote with him for a 2022 Hyundai Elantra limited he said it will be 304. That car ended up getting sold I found a new car I wanted clean title not a rental 7k miles 2024 Hyundai Elantra sel I got quoted $299 for it last week. Now I did another quote for the same car it’s all the same info I had last week and now it’s at $540 a month. I called and the GEICO guy said “rates can go up” and I highly doubt they go up $250 in a week. He did say my $299 quote sounded unrealistic and they whouldnt quote that when I literally have the saved quote on my GEICO app.
I’m just wondering is this normal? And I can still buy the $299 a month quote right now since I did save it but I am scared they will raise my insurance prices to 550 a month after the 6 months. I do have screen shots of both quotes but just can’t add them. Should I buy the $300 a month quote since it’s the cheapest I found or will GEICO raise my rates after 6 months.
Geico - Why am I paying almost double what my sister is paying car insurance ??
I am a 33yo f and my sister is 30yo f. We both have geico, same coverages, haven’t been in an accident or have gotten any tickets in 5+ years. We both have newish cars. Hers is a 2024 Mazda and mine is a 2025 Nissan. We live together at the same address. Why the hell is her car insurance almost half the cost of mine?! I am so annoyed about it! Lol
Geico - Gap from dealer with geico
I bought a almost new used camry and i almost got into a huge wreck this last weekend, pretty much I was fishing and this drunk idiot sideswiped my friends car with his boat while pushing his empty trailer nearly off the cliff towards the river, thankfully the hitch stayed locked in we were able to drive it to safety minus scratches either way they exchanged information.
Afterwards, we were talking about it. I still owe almost 30k for my brand new camry even if I didn't notice who the driver was
Would there be any way that gap would cover my car if it were to have fallen or got heavly damaged due to the small cliff?
I.had previous vandalism to my car last year and it was a headache through insurance
Geico - Am I getting scammed or is this normal?
I posted here a couple days ago about a stolen motorcycle (thank you all for reminding me not to commit fraud) and I called Geico about some questions I had. The told me I could get the collision and comprehensive policy right now, after the theft, and if the person who stole my motorcycle gets into a crash with a stationary object or another car and the motorcyclist is at fault I could be compensated. I got qouted for the coverage and it's $4,717.62! I paid $791.07 originally and the new total will be $5,508.69. I'm assuming since this policy covers the vehicle its more but $4,717.62 is absolutely crazy. I don't think I will be getting the policy at this point because of the depreciation on the bike makes it worth around $8,000 and the insurance would be almost half what the bike is worth. Even at rates of a new rider that seems fairly high. I apologize for the rant,
QUESTION: Is this a normal quote for the policy on a motorcycle or is that something because I am a new rider?

GEICO - My umbrella insurance jumped 14%!
My upcoming bill is $797.00 through GEICO. Last year it was $701.00. $2M policy. Am I getting ripped off?
Geico - Geico insurance auto damage claim
I recently settle down with Geico for an auto damage cost and they sent me a link where I can put my banking information for direct deposit, despite verifying with the bank about the entered information being corrected the website still shows "please verify the information for accuracy" I even used a family members card which didn't work, so then they automatically issued a check which never came despite being more than 10 days, I called them again and they said there's nothing they can do but issue a new check or redo the direct deposit which I did and still failed to verify the banking information, I suspect this is a system error, I'm currently waiting for the second check but I'm very anxious whether the check is gonna come or not? What should I do in this situation. Geico isn't able to track where my check goes
Geico - Auto insurance Geico
Hi everyone,
I’m 24 years old and have been under my moms auto insurance (geico) since I was 19 years old. My bill initially used to be $175 however after my mom got into a car accident it went up to $230. Unfortunately I had an incident in October 2024 where I fit a pedestrian (he’s okay) and now I have to pay $450 monthly. Is there anything I can do to lower it ? I don’t know 100% that the insurance went up because of the incident that I had but I’m assuming it’s because of that. I tried getting quotes at other insurance companies solo however they’re quoting be about $400 monthly for insurance under my name alone. Can someone please give me advice
Geico - Insurance wants to total car and offer pennies. Can’t afford to get another vehicle
Title pretty self-explanatory. A lady hit my car in the mall parking lot while I was inside shopping. Car is a 2005 Chevy Malibu with 306K miles on it and a few minor dents and scratches. The damage caused by the lady who hit my car is significantly worse than any previous damage incurred and exceeds the value of the vehicle, so her insurance company wants to deem it a total loss and offer about $2K. I took the vehicle to a body shop to get my own estimate, which came out to be $3.7K. Insurance company doesn’t want to budge on previous estimate.
I get that the car is old and not worth anything, but I’ve learned how to keep it running and can afford its maintenance. I can’t currently afford to get a new or spiffy used car, but I’m also not sure $3K is enough to get a solid cash car that won’t break down on me. I also live in Georgia, where having a salvage title isnt really an option.
What would you do in the predicament? Any advice is appreciated.
Geico - Trying to get a Letter of Experience from Geico for an auto insurance policy from ~15 years ago. Am I SOL?
# Update: Solved! Emailing customer support directly did the trick! Cheers to the awesome customer service reps who took the time to dig through old files and find my old policy based on my very scattered recollection of what email address or phone number it might've been associated with. Lesson learned: keep records, even beyond when you think you'll need them!
Hi r/insurance,
I'm currently trying to track down Letters of Experience from all my previous auto insurance providers in the US (to lower the cost of premiums in a new country where I've yet to establish much of a history of driving experience).
I called Geico, who was my first provider from \~2006 to 2010 when I first got my license, but the customer service rep I spoke with said that any customer information that old would have been archived, and she was unable to find me in her system.
(For context, after 2010, I moved abroad and relied on public transportation, so had no need for auto insurance — hence why I'm jumping through hoops trying to track down such old information.)
Has anyone run into this? Did you have any recourse for requesting files be unarchived and a Letter of Experience generated? Any suggestions appreciated!
