Lemonade - Is parvo going to be a preexisting condition for life?
We recently rescued a mastiff puppy. She came down with parvo but is on the road to recovery. I would like to get insurance for her but I am concerned that having parvo as a puppy is a recipe for getting denied for any claim going forward. It just seems like parvo is one of those illnesses that could count against anything that goes wrong in the future. I reached out to Lemonade and their response was very general and generic. Preexisting, reviewing history with any claim, etc, etc.
Lemonade - What’s the deal with lemonade pet insurance!?
I submitted a claim on 4/12 for my three year old domestic shorthair cat for a diagnosis of FHS. On the claim I asked for reimbursement of the medicine ( Gabapentin ) and the cost for the emergency visit. I submitted all medical records as requested. Today 4/29 and the claim is still in review. I signed up for Lemonade when my cat was a kitten. He has no pre existing conditions and I take him to all his annual vet appointments. Lemonade is not very communicative. I only received correspondence when I reached out to them asking for an update. They say they are working on processing the claim as quickly as possible. Is this normal turn around time?
Lemonade - Stocks in stead of pet insurance
Hey everyone,
I had lemonade pet insurance for around a year but they don’t cover my dogs allergies (pre exist). They also upped my insurance to almost 50 bucks a month, before it was 35.
So I dropped them and have been putting money away each week in the stock market in case of an emergency. I have been doing this for almost a year and have around 700 bucks in it now (robinhood). Obviously the stocks are down right now and I’m down 30 bucks but historically they will go up again.
Just wondering if anyone else has decided to this instead, it’s nice seeing my money actually being saved rather than throwing it away with pet insurance and things they do not cover.
I first got my dog and took him to the vet prior to getting insurance and that’s why they don’t cover his allergy meds. NOTE: always get pet insurance before going to the vet if you choose to get it.
Lemonade - Pre-Existing Condition - Vomiting. Need advice !
I have an 8month old puppy. He had some bile vomiting before our insurance kicked in. Long story short, he was sick recently and we thought he swallowed something. When I put the claim in Lemonade denied me. They said vomiting is a "pre-exisiting" condition. Which is nuts? Has anyone dealt with this?
Am I crazy to want to switch insurances? Will this ever go away?
Lemonade - I argued with Lemonade for several months last year and they now cover a few pre-existing conditions (see below)
Basically my ex lied about his dog who was his sister’s first. She has been insured since she lived with me with my ex. I put her under my GSD’s policy and I’m glad I did once she was abandoned lol.
Anyways, Lemonade uncovered her past medical records that I didn’t even have. Due to this, they tried denying an entire claim, which included a new illness. I kept escalating it and finally they agreed to cover some items pre-existing and agreed the new illness was to be covered.
You won’t be able to argue everything but don’t be afraid to keep pushing back if you disagree. I made them keep the case open for 6 months until it was correctly resolved. Also, Lemonade does have a phone number.
Lemonade - Lemonade denied claim, should I appeal?
Hey denied my cat’s mycoplasma diagnosis because his first vet record shows he was sneezing (self report by us.) however, he is a Persian and they tend to sneeze for no reason. The sneezing he was doing when he got sick was WAY different than just a smelling around sneeze.
Now they’re saying it’s a preexisting condition when it’s not! (It was a bacterial infection, he didn’t have it when we got him for sure).
We got him in December and he got his cold in February.
I’m so upset and really regretting getting Lemonade
Lemonade - lemonade review and in need of advice for possible switch?
hello! i recently got lemonade for my 4 month old kitten. since then, she’s had a UTI or what seemed like one, they couldn’t really tell because she’s very tiny or something like that. i submitted my claim the ends of october and had a follow up on november 1st. the month is about to end and our claims combined to a total of 1.5k~ ish. we have not received our reimbursement yet even with all of the paperwork sent in. lemonade status is just “in review” and usually, id be patient and we have been but sometimes this money could be used for bills or going towards food or another visit if she ever got sick. it’s just infuriating emailing and getting the same automated message of “thanks for being patient.” i dont know if this is a universal experience with every pet insurance because its my first time having a cat ^^ but if anyone can recommend any better service pet insurance or if you’ve had similar experiences let me know!!
Lemonade - Reasonable rate?
So, I’m planning on buying a Dalmatian puppy within the next few months and wanted to figure out which insurance I plan to go with before taking the puppy home. I’ve heard pretty good things about Lemonade, and they had a reasonable starting rate, but that went so high when I imput my information. It ended up being about $100/mo without add-ones such as dental or routine vet. Maybe I just don’t get insurance as I’m buying from a very good breeder who has heath testing/CHIC numbers, temperament tested parents, etc? I guess I’m just confused how a 3/mo old puppy of a breed that’s very healthy compared to a lot of breeds people have, can cost so much more than the base rate. This is my first time perusing insurance for a pet so forgive me if I’m missing something obvious here.
Lemonade - Dog insurance spot or pets best?
I have a 2yrs old terrier mix and got his insurance through Lemonade when I first adopted him 10 months ago. He was nervous when I took him to the vet for the first time before I got his insurance, so the vet recommended Trazodone, but I declined because he was okay at home. He started developing anxiety around noises, people, and other dogs 1-2 months after I got Lemonade, and I filed a claim after seeing the vet. They denied the claim, so I appealed by having the vet send them an email saying that his social anxiety is a new condition that had developed recently. They did not take that and denied the appeal, saying it was a pre-existing condition. He has to be on multiple meds and needs behavioral training, and I’m very frustrated. I know that other insurance companies won’t cover any cost for his anxiety at this point if I get a different insurance. Still, I don’t want anything like this happening in the future(I read that similar things happened to some other pet owners who use Lemonade), so I’ve been looking into different insurance policies. I’ve read some good stuff about Pets Best and Spot, and I’m trying to decide between them. Does anyone have recommendations? Experiences with those companies? Any opinions are appreciated!
