Medi-Cal - Medi-Cal switched to SSI P??????
Hello all, I am here hoping to find some clarity as to what happened and if I did anything wrong.
For context I am chronically ill and have ESRD (end stage renal disease), I am on dialysis 3 times a week, awaiting a kidney transplant.
For the last 3 years I have had Medi-Cal and it was handled through California DPSS. This has been the case since I applied. Even when I went into kidney failure and went on dialysis, my medi-cal was still handled by DPSS. I even subsequently applied for Social Security Disability and still my Medi-cal was handled through DPSS. I was just hospitalized last month for a week, so I know that my insurance was definitely still active at that point.
Well today, I called my PCP to make an appt and was told my insurance was no longer active. After HOURS of standing in line at the DPSS office, I find out that my medi-cal was transferred to Social Security at the end of March - Without giving me any notice: not even so much as a letter.
I’m baffled… I now have to restart the process of picking out a medical group and all that stuff… how did this happen?? Why?? And did I do something wrong????
Medi-Cal - Medi-Cal and HSA
I have Medi-Cal currently. I just got hired at a job that would make me ineligible for it.
I tried cancelling my Medi-Cal but they're asking for proof of salary or something of the sorts. I still have not gotten paid but I will be paid biweekly and I have 30 days to enroll myself into the work benefits. If I submit the proof, am I still able to enroll into HSA from my job and not get into any trouble? Not sure at what point they will kick me off of the MediCal benefits after I send them an employment letter or whatever proof they want to see.
Medi-Cal - Medi-cal not updated since Oct. 2023
Hi, first time reddit poster, hoping for some advice.
I got a new, much better paying job in Oct. Of 2023 and no longer needed food stamps or medi-cal. I updated my information in both systems (so I thought). California food stamps was difficult because it wouldnt update for some reason so I finally called them and told them to take me off the program. Now, flash forward to 2025 - I've received a letter in the mail saying I got renewed for medi-cal. I did not get this letter last year. And I haven't used medi-cal since I got my job. I checked the website and it still has my old jobs. I've had state medical insurance in Illinois and never ran into this kind of issue. What would be the best course of action to fix this? What kind of penalties could I face? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I haven't updated the application on the website yet, I'm waiting to give them a call on Monday.
Medi-Cal - Medi-cal kept on renewing my family even I submit my income
We have been on medi-cal since 2020. Husband and I both lost our job. When we started working, we reported our income. We had a child and our income still within theamount that qualifies.
2022, I reported my income. And they still renew.
2023, I did not work, we qualified.
2024, I got a new job July, I called and they said my medi-cal will be cancelled by August. I enrolled in my job's medical insurance.
Fast forward 2025, got a letter we qualified. I kept in my record that I always submit proof of income. What should I do?
