Hi! I’ll get right into it- I adopted my dog in 2021 at age 3 and got her pet insurance immediately at around $20 per month initially. The price has gone up as she aged and is around $55 per month now (she is 6 almost 7). I moved in the last few months ~10 miles away from my old apartment but still go to my same vet and have not had any significant changes otherwise. I called the pet insurance to change my address and they quoted me $139 for the same coverage I have just because I moved. Since I have been with the pet insurance a while, I feel like they just redid my quote as though I was a new customer and that’s why it’s so expensive. For nearly triple the price I’m not willing to keep the insurance but wondering if I have any rights here or this could be escalated further? I really like my pet insurance but feel that this is outrageous especially since I have not moved that far and still go to the same vet so I don’t see how it would make that much of a difference to them. More details- I have MetLife pet insurance. I live in Saint Petersburg, FL (moved from downtown to north st Pete and my zip code changed). I also moved from an apartment to a townhouse. Thanks in advance! Edit to add: no preexisting conditions except allergies (she gets a shot every 3-4 months) and nothing new that would have contributed to the price change.
