MetLife - Multiple issues
Claims take way too long to be reviewed and God forbid if they need further documentation because then they won't look at for another 2 weeks.
I also dislike that when I make a separate claim for one pet and then a separate claim for the second pet the same day then somehow they get combined and it's a mess. And if I make a different claim the next day, somehow it gets thrown on to a previous claim.
I also don't appreciate how when a claim is finally completed it appears MetLife has the option to go back and change the determination and seemly erase it had previously been completed and approved. This happened to me where a claim was used towards my deductible and I therefore had met the deductible and so the next claim I got a small payment. Well, several weeks later now someone went back to that claim and denied the claim so those charges no longer went towaeds my deductible, which I can't believe an adjuster would actually have the time to review previous completed claims when they take FOREVER to work the ones that need to be completed. Maybe that's the problem IDK.
Also, the App is a nightmare. Constantly having to get an authentication code by email. EVERY single time. Can't use the code by text option because I never receive a code, not that a text vs.email code makes that much difference. But the app has a 'Remember Me' click box...and it's worthless. Normally that function would mean you want the technology to remember you and your phone so you don't have to continue to get authentication codes. Doesn't happen.
There are so many issues I've experienced I can't write them all here.
One good thing though is that most of the representatives are nice and pleasant, although they do give incorrect information and timelines and excuses. And they cannot contact anyone about your claim, they are very limited as what they can tell you and help you with
Only had one or two who were not as friendly.

It takes too long to get your money back and the customer representative are not friendly and sort of smart mouthed.
MetLife - MetLife Pet Insurance is absolutely horrible.
I'm reaching out once again due to an ongoing and deeply frustrating issue with my monthly claims. My veterinarian has provided clear documentation—on file with my account—stating that both of my dogs require AGE every month. I also submit this same documentation with each invoice and highlight the AGE section to avoid any confusion.
Despite these efforts, my claims continue to be processed incorrectly, month after month. As a result, I am forced to call in every single time to correct the error. This is not only time-consuming but entirely avoidable, and it reflects either a lack of training within the claims department or a failure in internal communication procedures.
I am further disheartened by the fact that switching providers is not a viable option, due to pre-existing condition exclusions. This leaves me without recourse, which only adds to my frustration. As a paying customer, I expect consistent accuracy and basic attention to detail—neither of which I’m receiving.
Frankly, I don’t have much confidence that this message will be read or followed up on, given the pattern of oversight to date. Still, I’m asking—again—for this issue to be addressed and resolved at a systemic level so I no longer have to repeatedly chase corrections to your team’s recurring mistakes.
MetLife - They have improved the payment time
They have improved the payment time. It would be good to have EOBs connected to check.
They keep mixing up my 2 dogs in regard to payment even tho the correct animals name is on the invoice which holds up payment.
MetLife - I love all that they cover
I love all that they cover. Supplements & holistic approach. At first claims took 25 plus days to get reimbursed, that I wasn't a fan of, but now it's gotten a little better as in 14 to 20 days. Had alot of issues with them receiving my claims, that seems to be fixed now. Can be pricey but I have "senior" great danes.
MetLife - Routine denial of claims for no legitimate reason
We adopted two kittens, brothers, at the same time, with the same completely clean medical history. They soon showed symptoms of parasites (almost certainly from the adoption facility they were in). One of their claims was approved and the other was denied, citing a "pre-existing condition". We ended up needing to spend over $10K on emergency vet services to keep our little boy alive and MetLife covered exactly none of it, due to this supposed "pre-existing condition". We would've saved more money and headache by foregoing the insurance altogether.

Every single time I put in a claim I basically have to remind the company of my dogs medical issues. It’s like talking to a two year old.

MetLife - This company will never pay out.
This company will never pay out.
Find anyone else.
Took my dog to the vet because of a rash and got all his yearly stuff at the same time ended up with a bill over $800.
They paid $36.
Then they told me I needed to meet a deductible.
What!?!?
I just paid for everything in cash at the vet why for freaks sake would I need a deductible?!?!
Meanwhile these people are taking money out of my wife's check automatically every month.
Yeah not anymore.
MetLife pet sucks.
