Northwestern Mutual - Cancel or hold NWM Adjustable CompLife policies?
In my naïve early 20s (single and no kids) I bought into a NWM adjustable CompLife policy. Then expanded coverage a few years later at the advise of my “advisor”. I haven’t thought much about it until now, when my new husband and I were looking at our cash flow.
I’m now feeling that I need to stop my donations to NWM and be smarter with my investments. I’m not maxing out other retirement options (ROTH, 401), and I feel that would better serve our future.
Here’s what I’ve got going on:
CompLife policy #1
Started: 09/2016
Annualized premium: $1242.72
(Monthly premium: $103.5)
Payments since sept 2016: $102
Total paid: $10,557
Net accumulated value: $7,244
CompLife policy #2
Started: 06/2019
Annualized premium: $1799.40
(Monthly premium: 149.95)
Payments since June 2019: 69
Total paid: $10,346
Net accumulated value: $7,068
Total benefit: $500,000
Should I cash this out? Roll it into something else? I don’t feel like NWM has my best interests at heart and I don’t want to be throwing money at an inefficient scheme. TIA
Northwestern Mutual - Life and disability insurance question
Hi everyone, I got to this forum after seeing some "NW mutual life insurance is a scam" posts and i'm not sure if I got scammed. I was in medical training when a financial adviser told me about getting disability and life insurance.. with NW mutual... I'm 35 years old, very healthy, I pay about 87$ for 2M Term to 80 policy with no annual dividend. And my premium for disability is $110.. Looking for advice if I should switch to a different broker (if thats an option) or just general advice.
Northwestern Mutual - NWM whole life insurance
I feel stupid for falling for Northwestern Mutual’s whole life policy sales pitch when I was in my early 20’s when I clearly had no dependents or need to have such a policy. I finally came to my senses recently and cancelled the policy, took the relatively small cash value and ran. My question really is how is that ethical for NWM to be preying on recent college grads to bring in high commission policies they do not need? The number one sign I did the right thing in cancelling my policy was how angry my “advisor” got when I stood my ground on our call.
