My parrot was diagnosed with avian chlamidiya at 2 months. He went through medication and was fine. I have nationwide insurance Nationwide says I cannot get that removed without another expensive chlamidiya test that won’t be covered. Recently I was very sick and while I was sick my bird got sick. I took him to the vet and they gave him different meds and said it’s most likely a respiratory infection, which is also what I had. They specifically put that it was a respiratory infection and not chlamidiya which a pretty serious infection. Nationwide marked it the same as chlamidiya and refused to cover it, said it was preexisting. There are a billion things that cause a respiratory infection in birds. It’s not fair that every single thing he can catch will be lumped in with a very serious condition that he had when he was 2 months. They told me I need the SOAP notes and a letter from the vet which I will be getting. But I will be looking for a different carrier for pet insurance because this is obscene and I already have a $250 deductible with this I wasn’t even getting anything back this was to just go onto the deductible!! I appreciate any help you all can help because I’m at my wits end here I’m going through way too much and I can’t take anymore

I’m so frustrated, I have a shih tzu 13 years old who doesn’t have any major problems, other than a collapse trachea and anxiety. But nationwide made my payment $300/month. How am I going to afford this?!

I'm having trouble figuring out what is covered and not covered under this plan.... My dog recently had an anal abscess the size of a kiwi so it needed to be removed immediately. Deductible is $250.00, and I'm just trying to see the benefits coverage but am having the most difficult time navigating the Nationwide Pet Insurance website; it's as if they do not want us finding out what's covered to utilize our insurance to the fullest. With this operation potentially maxing out my deductible, I have some other Wellness things I want to get taken care of, such as dental, or to see if I can do anal expressions every few months. Any insight on coverage?

hey all, I was with nationwide insurance for my 2 young cats for the past 2 years. Never needed to use them but the $50 a month was worth it for me. Yesterday I found out they discontinued the ‘whole pet plan’ policy they were signed up for in my state and did not notify me. They cancelled it end of December with no email/call/correspondence. They created a new policy similar to their original and discontinued the one my cats were on. I went in to double check the illness coverage for their policy because I was about to bring in my sick cat, and that’s how I found out they cancelled his coverage. I spoke to 3 different people and their supervisors for hours and they refused to reinstate their coverage on a different plan until the 2 week waiting period was over, and didn’t take any accountability for their failure to contact me before/during/after they cancelled his coverage. My cat is now entering early heart failure and the testing to diagnose what type will cost over $5,000 to get him into a specialist. He’s only a 5 year old cat with no signs of a heart murmur/heart and liver issues until yesterday. As of now, he’s on various medications to try to stabilize him until he’s healthy enough for an echo exam. I chose Nationwide because they appear to be a reputable insurance company in other regards, but I will never be enrolled with them again in any capacity. I’ve never really written a review on any experience that I’ve had because I feel like everyone has different experiences. PLEASE do not use this company for your pet insurance. I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what my cat is facing and the likelihood he will have to be put to sleep in the coming days. It’s devastating and the fact that there may have been a different outcome if he was able to get all the testing in the world without financial issues is something I’m going to be thinking about forever, which is the reason pet insurance is so vital for any animals we own. There are so many other insurance companies that will do better and care for your pets and nationwide isn’t one of them ♥️
