Cat Rescued from Gas Station Living. Pumpkin covered his dental extractions upon adoption and they did not declare his condition pre-existing. Recently he had surgery for a sinus condition-- injury related. 1800.00. I had paid my deductible and premiums for the year. They denied it for pre-existing dental issues. I Appealed it and the vet proved in a letter that this was not a dental - the xray showed injury and abscess around his sinus, causing issues to breathing in his left nostril. The appeal was denied due to pre-existing dental. This isn't right. They aren't trustworthy. I will not be renewing with them.

Price keeps going up without any increase in benefits. I have seen an increase the last 2-3 years.

Surprised to learn with initial claims processing, how out of sync the vet practices and pet insurance practices are, and I’m still confused about what services will be covered going forward. I’m also still trying to decide if getting a wellness plan was a good decision.

I’ve had a mixed experience with Pumpkin Pet Insurance. On the positive side, every interaction I’ve had with their team has been professional and clear—staff are courteous, responsive, and do a good job of explaining their decisions. That said, I was disappointed by their handling of a claim for a diagnostic heartworm test performed at my rescue dog’s first vet visit. The test was part of her routine wellness care and was clearly preventive in nature, but it was denied solely because the result was positive. I understand not covering treatment for a pre-existing condition, but denying a diagnostic test—whose whole purpose is to determine whether such a condition exists—feels inconsistent with the purpose of the wellness plan. The overall customer service is solid, but policy interpretation in this case felt overly rigid and counter to what pet owners expect from a preventive care plan. I hope Pumpkin revisits how it handles diagnostic testing in similar cases going forward.

I do not know if I like or dislike yet because I have not used it yet. I just purchased it for my pup.

I understand that every insurance provider is a scam, but it’s getting worse and worse every year. The rates go up and less reimbursement and coverage…

I have received and paid the first month but have not received any paperwork. Please tell whoever is responsible to take care of this.

I have tried to do two claims and pumpkin keeps asking additional information. The vet clinic gave everything, and I uploaded, but the process is very cumbersome and not at all friendly as promised. I am thinking about changing insurance. Update: Some of my claims were denied, so for those thinking about this service please spare yourself a bad experience. I am definitely cancelling and moving to another service.

Very fast processing and got my annual paid for quickly. BUT, BEWARE!! My total amount was $175 and my payment was $20/month, so I took a LOSS of over $70. Be sure you will have an annual of more than $240!!
