Ontario Insurance - Rear ended and need advice
I was rear ended while stopped at a red light. The woman couldn’t provide her insurance as she wasn’t able to find it after looking for a very long time but I got her plates and drivers license. Didn’t report to collision centre as when I called they said if total damages to both cars are under $5k go straight to insurance.
I received a quote for $1k cash for repairs or go through insurance. I let her know both options and requested her insurance information. She has still not responded back to me so I called my insurance and filed a claim. My insurance stated that I’d still have to pay the deductible until they work on finding her insurance.
Wanted advice on how to move forward, should this be counted as a hit and run as she is not willing to provide her insurance information? Will they be able to find her insurance by running the plates?

his insurance - Should I sue my boyfriend's insurance?
Almost two weeks ago, I (26M, Location: North Carolina) was the passenger in a car accident. My boyfriend's car got t-boned on my side, and he is definitely at fault. I got a pretty nasty bump on my head, which the PA at the urgent care later diagnosed as either a bad headache or a mild concussion.
At first, I just had a dull headache that came and went, I'll now say I'm having migraines that are coming and going, and at their worst I want to lay down and do nothing.
My parents want me to pursue legal action against the insurance. They think I should get head scans, and his insurance should cover it. I'm thinking maybe there's sort of aftercare or physical therapy that'd be possible. But I'm hesitant about suing my boyfriend's insurance. I imagine there would be negative consequences for him through them, which I wanted to avoid. I wish the headaches were getting better, but they're not--if anything they're getting worse.
He's also not happy with the way the insurance conducted the afternath of the accident. Evidently they listed his car on the auctioneer's site before telling him the damage (he's since taken the car back and the listing was taken down). He planned on suing the insurance company, but he consulted a lawyer who told him he doesn't have a case. When I told him about my legal options, he said his insurance is shady and he'd pay for expenses without going through them. That, at this point, seems like it could be way too costly when it's all said and done.
Meanwhile, the insurance company has contacted me and they're asking questions about lost wages and whatnot. I've told them I'm having headaches.
So what are my options? How bad would this be for my boyfriend? What would you recommend in this spot?
Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance - Fighting Insurance Fraud & Corruption: My 4.5 Year Battle with Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance (Birmingham, UK)
**Location:** Birmingham, UK
**Type of Insurance:** Home Insurance (Subsidence Claim)
I'm sharing my experience dealing with what I believe is systemic fraud by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance (RSA) and their loss adjusters, Crawford & Company. After 4.5 years of battling for a fair resolution to my subsidence claim, I've submitted a formal escalated criminal complaint to the Chief Ombudsman following their recent decision (PNX-5126400-B7P5, January 24, 2025).
# Background
In September 2020, I filed a subsidence claim with RSA. The Ombudsman has already acknowledged RSA's "shockingly poor service" and "significant avoidable delays" in their decision. However, my complaint goes much deeper than poor service.
# The Evidence I've Gathered
Over these years, I've collected substantial evidence of what appears to be deliberate misconduct:
1. **Fabricated Complaints**: RSA created three fake complaints (January 30, September 26, and December 7, 2024) to manipulate regulatory timelines and circumvent proper oversight.
2. **Falsified Technical Documents**: Key claim documents including the Schedule of Works (SOW), Certificate of Structural Adequacy (CoSA), and Forms of Acceptance (FOAs) appear to have been fabricated. Metadata analysis reveals these were created in 2024 but backdated to 2021.
3. **Data Protection Violations**: My Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) came back with approximately 73 critical documents fully redacted and many (around 50+) others improperly withheld.
4. **Claim Reference Manipulation**: RSA repeatedly changed my claim references (from SU2004338 to 1781135 to 202405326), seemingly to obscure the complaint history and make tracking impossible.
5. **Conflicts of Interest**: The person investigating my complaints at RSA was directly implicated in the issues I was complaining about.
# Most Concerning Evidence
What troubles me most is that when I examined the Certificate of Structural Adequacy, it falsely claimed that Leo Horsfield (the structural surveyor) recommended removing an ash tree that had already been felled two years before they were even involved in my case. This demonstrates deliberate falsification, not just an administrative error.
Similarly, the Schedule of Works was created on April 30, 2024 (proven by metadata), yet RSA claimed it existed since July 2021. When challenged, they couldn't produce the original document.
# Where Things Stand Now
The Ombudsman's decision acknowledged the poor service but couldn't address the potential fraud due to their limited remit and outside timeframes of this particular complaint. I've now escalated to the Chief Ombudsman, with copies to the Financial Conduct Authority, Information Commissioner's Office, and Serious Fraud Office.
My 122-page complaint (filed 02.03.2025) meticulously documents every falsified document, fabricated complaint, and regulatory breach with supporting evidence. I believe RSA's actions go beyond poor service into potentially criminal territory.
# What I Hope For
I'm sharing this to warn others and hopefully connect with people who may have experienced similar issues. I also hope that by bringing awareness to this case, the regulatory bodies will give it the serious attention it deserves.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with RSA or other insurers? Any advice on navigating this process would be greatly appreciated.
Fetch Pet Insurance - Avoid Fetch Pet Insurance
I currently have 3 cats. I've had policies with Fetch (previously known as PetPlan) for nearly 2 decades, and they have covered half a dozen different cats during that time, including my current trio. Fetch has never had the cheapest policies, and it always took a while for them to pay claims, but they always provided good coverage and did not engage in the scummy bait-and-switch practices so common to other pet insurance companies. All that changed Monday.
To provide some background, two of my three cats are middle-aged littermates, a female and a male. The boy is generally healthy except for the occasional herpes virus flare up. He's had those since he was a kitten so Fetch considered them a pre-existing condition and has never covered any of those expenses. Fair enough.
His sister suffered a serious illness in 2023 and was ultimately diagnosed with small cell intestinal lymphoma. Due to complications during the initial work up, she got aspiration pneumonia. She nearly died and had to spend 10 very expensive days in the ICU. She recovered from the near fatal pneumonia, but unfortunately the lymphoma is terminal and all we can do is give her medication to keep her comfortable and slow the progression. If we're really lucky we may get a couple more years with her.
Since her diagnosis in 2023 she has had to see her vet every couple of month for blood tests because the medications suppresses her immune system and can have serious side effects. So, she incurs regular medical bills, but nothing near the expenses she incurred in 2023.
Both cats had their policies renewed in 2024 with moderate increases in the annual premiums.
Today I received my renewal documents for 2025, and I am absolutely floored by what Fetch has done:
* **Fetch designated BOTH cats as high risk and forced them into high-risk policies.**
* **The female's 2025 premium went up by about $75 to $1380 per year, but the deductible quadrupled to $1000 and my co-pay went from 10% to 40%!**
* **Even though her brother has rarely been sick and never with anything serious, his 2025 premium increased by $817 to $2200 per year, his deductible doubled to $500 and my co-pay went from 10% to 30%!**
I had expected the girl's policy costs might increase, but there is no justification for what Fetch has done with her brother's policy. I called Fetch to get an explanation and see what could be adjusted at least for the boy's policy. Their answer was, "Nothing." Take it, or leave it. This is how Fetch treats customers who've had policies with them for decades. Just a big middle finger.
Fetch was bought by a huge private equity firm a few years ago and these predatory business practices are the result. Wall Street has been buying up veterinary practices and pet insurance companies with the goal of consolidating the industry into monopolies that will rob pet owners blind. For Fetch it's either pay up or put fido to sleep.
EMBRACE Pet Insurance - EMBRACE Pet Insurance Increased Annual Rate 55%!!!!
I have had embrace for 10 years on my dog and cage and have had claims and have a 90% Reimbursement Rate they are awesome . Over the years rate increase were always as expected .I just got my Renewal and it sky rocketed from $220 a month to $340! Any one else experiencing a dramatic rate increase?
Embrace pet insurance - Embrace pet insurance increased my Annual Rate 55%!
I have had Embrace pet insurance for my dog and cat for 10 years and they have always been Awesome and I have a 90% Reimbursement Rate on covered claims . They have covered many claims and have helped alot . I do pay a hefty monthly price to have this peace of mind. I’m use to an annual increase that’s incremental but a 55% jump from 220 a month is just outlandish in my opinion to 340 a month now . Have you experienced a High Rate Increase also?
Freedom Life Insurance - Freedom Life Insurance is costing me way too much, what to switch to?
I purchased private health insurance through an agent with Freedom Life Insurance. I'm starting my own business so have to handle my own insurance. I got a Freedom plan that is supposed to give me 4 free doctors visits before deductibles/copays kick in, and somehow I'm paying more than my insurance every time. They only pay $100 per visit. I am livid that I'm spending almost $400/month for a policy that doesn't seem to pay anything!! What is the deal with this?? They only pay $100, the rest is on me. This is directly different than what I was told it would be, and there's no way for me to know what I'm going to be paying unless I get a full bill breakdown from each doctor beforehand which I have never in my life had to do. The plan is a United plan, yet my agent said these major doctors don't have a good contracted rate with United. HOW? United is universally accepted. Should I have my agent find me a different plan? Go back to Marketplace where they switch your plan every year? Where the heck does a person go to get health insurance that isn't rocket science, actually covers what it says it will cover, and doesn't change all the time? Does the plan I'm on even sound normal?
Plymouth Rock Auto Insurance - Got backed up into TWICE and their insurance ghosted me
This happened a bit over a year ago. I was driving my girlfriend and her coworker to work and pulled over near the curb to let them out, at the same time another driver starts backing up so I lay on the horn but he hits my car my girlfriend and her coworker both were still in the car when it happened and saw everything. We get out and they are not communicating at all and possibly didn't speak english. Police were called and they didn't show up for over an hour and he eventually started trying to drive off. I follow through for half a block and he stops and backs up into me again. His "son-in-law" came after I guess they called him and he started trying to gaslight me into believing I hit him and theres no proof and that police aren't going to come. LOL. Police eventually pulled up and the other driver started to feign a heart attack or something. They even called the ambulance and the EMT didn't look pleased... I got the police report, report states: **"V1 STATES HE WAS PARKED WHEN V2 WAS REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPOT COLLIDED CAUSING DAMAGE TO FRONT BUMPER. V2 STATES HE WAS TRYING TO TAKE A PARK IN SPOT WHEN HE COLLIDED INTO V1. V2 CLAIMS THAT V1 WAS NOT THERE ARE THE TIME HE WAS REVERSING. V2 DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO BOOTH MEMORIAL FOR CHEST PAINS. PO DIDN'T WITNESS"**. I got the insurance info and drivers info from the police report, called their insurance to make a claim. They instructed me to go to this auto shop and get a quote for damages, went there, the shop said they will call me about the quote. I never heard from the body shop again even after calling them they said they'll send it and never did, the insurance company never again picked up my calls after weeks of calling.
I have liability insurance, with Geico and they said to file the claim with their insurance.
This is in NYC, the other driver had NY plates but insured by a NJ company "Plymouth Rock Auto Insurance"
Due to my girlfriend and I living together, Geico requested me to add her as a secondary driver, I told them she does not even have a license to drive and of course never drive my car. They sent numerous letters and emails about this. Each time I replied online and called in to explain that to them, they acknowledged and I thought that was over. They ended up dropping me, and I didn't even realize for nearly a month and then I was fined by NY for driving without insurance. Paid the penalty and started looking for other insurance. Nobody was willing to cover me due to a gap in coverage, possibly the accident being reported, etc. I was only offered to be insured by GEICO AGAIN LOL. They doubled my rate for liability insurance nearly $400 a month and I've been paying that since.
Need advice on how to get what I'm owed for the damages they caused to my car.

Insurance Company - Pretty sure the Body Shop is ripping my Insurance off big time.
So from just looking on here it seems that this happens often. I got my vehicle yesterday afternoon after them having my car for a lil over a month. I didn’t look at my car much yesterday. This afternoon I went outside and was looking at the stuff on there bill of said repairs for the insurance company. A couple small things look fixed but most stuff looks the same as before as in not touched. The thing is what do I do now? I also had just called said place and the person was busy and in telling the person on the phone if they just ripped insurance company’s off he was dead silent.
