Spot - They do not cover all of what they tell…
They do not cover all of what they tell you.
Spot - Not Compassionate after Pet Passing
**EDIT: Spot did end up resolving this issue, including full reimbursement and a hand-written letter. It seems like customer support aren't all fully trained on handling end-of-life cases with compassion, while others do.**
Although they were fairly quick to payout claims, they charged us for a month of service after our pet was put down *before* our renewal date for our next month. We were originally told that we wouldn't be charged if our pet passed but then were charged without a guarantee for a refund (which we hope to get). We wish that our claims were handled with a bit more compassion as our pet passing was very sudden and unexpected.
Spot - Frustrating Experience with SPOT Pet Insurance
After considering switching to SPOT for my pet insurance, I decided to test their service by submitting two claims. Both were denied due to "missing medical records," despite the fact that I had already provided the necessary documents from both myself and my pet's hospital. Even after having the claims reopened, they were ultimately declined again. Thankfully, I hadn't canceled my existing pet insurance, anticipating potential issues like this. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend SPOT Pet Insurance.
Spot - Like every insurance this one is a rip…
Like every insurance this one is a rip off.
Don’t be fooled no 90% back and they completely denied all of my claims for my dog.
I pay a monthly premium of $150 for nothing. Disgusting horrible insurance only to know I was left with a $2500 bill.
Spot - Based on the research I did
Based on the research I did, I thought this was going to be a great company to work with. I have Met Life for my other dog, and I really had not complaints with them. I just thought based on the research this comlany would be great for my new puppy. Boy was I wrong!! Stay away from them. They don't cover anything at full cost, they make it sound so great but in reality I have been to 4 vet visits totaling well over 700 and I have not even yet met my $250 deductible. Run away, I went to one visit and with Met life I was already on the path to reimbursement. Please do yourself a favor and don't believe the hype of this company. I can't wait to switch back to Met Life.
Spot - Would not recommend
We are still waiting on the claims for our Dogs surgery. This morning at 5:57 am we got a call saying we need to send her full medical history for them to review. We have already sent all information on the torn ACL and the bills that were paid by us all of them mark paid in full.
Spot - If I needed my health insurance more…
If I needed my health insurance more than once during a calender year, I would be covered. You only allow one emergency coverage because of the cap. pay out. It's a gamble weather you use it and pay all year, or not. Either way, one party makes out better and in most cases it's the insurance co. That's wry the 3 stars.
Spot - Claims denied over and over
It shows SPOT as #1 that is scary!!! Pet insurance - My experience with SPOT has been more effort than value! I'm hoping for better in the future or maybe a different company is better. You be the judge and what do you want to spend your time doing? tracking down appeals?
They were so nice on the signup call and I elected for the premium "highest" plan and autopay monthly premiums. I understood things wouldn't be covered at 100%. I had no idea the leg work or if you get one visit a year and if an emergency comes up - every vet visit is denied.
I pay the vet and send the vet bill in to create a claim. Claim gets denied. Rince and repeat. Never once has it been it easy. I don't spend this much time on my own medical insurance. I'll pay the stupid tax I've signed up for but not a fan.
We have seen the vet only 4 times since I've started coverage, and my dog is 5 years old, thankful he's pretty healthy and I have gotten denial after denial. Told I'd have to appeal to have a claim reopened. Last claim was in December 2024 received email stating closed - denied - even though it was an emergency visit and all new things - not anything preexisting etc... $0 covered so its really hard to justify paying the monthly premium on top of the vet bill with $0% covered. Makes no sense.
I've sent all records over 4 times; Vet sent all records over 3 times exactly as SPOT requested for them to be sent.
Tried to call in a few times to customer service to figure out if I was doing something wrong - or needed to submit something different??? OR what hoops I'd need to jump through..... On hold on the phone with customer service for over 20 minutes and then they disconnected. What is your time worth?
Spot - If theres 0 stars i ll gladly give it…
If theres 0 stars i ll gladly give it to this insurance the shittiest money hungry insurance ever run away u ll be spending on your pet and pay the insurance these people will not cover u and its a joke an exam per year its like no point im spending 24 dollar more on insurance u dont get nothing back
Spot - This is a terrible insurance
This is a terrible insurance. Don't bother. Constant requests for more information from the vet, just so they can deny your claim. I had preventative coverage for my dog, and they requested 2 years worth of vet records to reimburse for a vaccine. You don't need 2 years of records to do this reimbursement. If you like to jump through constant hoops, and get denials, this is the insurance for you. Also, canceling the insurance is a nightmare. There is no way to do it online. They make you call them to cancel. Terrible business practice.
