Nationwide - Worst animal vet ever DO NOT GO HERE
IF I COULD GIVE THIS NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD... THATS HOW BAD IT IS.... PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE.. DESPITE THE FAKE 4.7 REVIEWS THEY ARE REALLY ONE OF THE WORST ANIMAL HOSPITALS IN THE CITY. THEY KILLED MY Dog . AND I HEARD OF WAY MORE ANIMALS WHOS HEALTH ISSUES WERE NEGLECTED AND THE ANIMAL PAST AWAY... ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY AND THEY ARE NOT VERY EDUCATED ON THE MEDICATIONS THEY GIVE.... IF YOU WANT TO BURY YOUR PET GO HERE, IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE GO ELSEWHERE I SUGGEST KAHU ANIMAL HOSPITAL WHERE THEY ACTUALLY CARE BUT THERE ARE WAY MORE BETTER ALTERNATIVES THEN THIS PLACE.. THIS PLACE THE STAFF IS RUDE AND THEY OVERCHARGE EVEN FOR VIST..

Trupanion - Expensive but quick payment

Spot - Inconsistent responses/ poor customer service
I filed a claim for my 7-month-old puppy at the end of August. When I was notified that additional information was needed, customer service informed me to get full notes from my vet and email them. My claim was denied because medical records were required for at least a full year, which didn’t make sense. After two weeks of no response, I called again and was told the claim would be reopened. However, after another week and a half, I was informed that the claim was not reopened. Finally, a third rep reopened my claim and ensured a follow-up. When I received a denial a few days later, it stated that I only had accident coverage instead of both accident and illness. I understand this, but why wasn’t this included in the original denial? Due to the poor customer service and inconsistent responses, I’ve canceled and gone to another service.
Figo - Misleading and expensive
Misleading and expensive. I had signed up for my kitten's pet insurance. I have the wellness basic plan and have spent about $1,200 during 2 visits. I've received $105 back in total as that is the MAX I can get for vaccines and other procedures. To make it worse, I have a $500 deductible. ZERO DOLLARS WENT TOWARDS MY DEDUCTIBLE. I will be cancelling

My favorite old mixed terrier with a lot of anxiety had a knee that was bleeding and he doesn’t like you to touch his feet couldn’t get a hold of his vet so I had to take him to an ER where they had to sedate him in order to examine him. Complete nail avulsion. Ughh submitted my claim to pets best insurance within less than two weeks I had my reimbursement..fast painless process, highly recommend for your Pet Insurance!
Healthy Paws - Read Your Policy Carefully!
I learned that once you ever have a claim and you lower your reimbursement % and raise your deductible amount you can't change it back. AND, this next thing I'm going to describe is the reason I canceled one of my dog's policy.
I read an EOB closely and discovered the reimbursement % is taken off DURING the deductible period. Yes. If you have a $1000 deductible with a 50% reimbursement and file a $1000 claim, it goes like this: $1000 - 50%=$500.00 towards deductible, not $1000. If you thought the DEDUCTIBLE was fulfilled, YOU'RE WRONG. In this scenario, you will have to file $1500 in claims to fulfill a $1000 deductible.
If you have a $250 deductible with a 80% reimbursement and file a $250 claim, it looks like this: $250 - 20% =$200.00 towards deductible. That's right! Your reimbursement % is calculated DURING your deductible period.

Embrace - I don't even know how to set this up
I don't even know how to set this up. That being said with no one to walk me through all this, I'm probably going to cancel this very soon. On top of that you send way too many emails I don't even know which one is the right one to click on to even get started if I wanted to. Terrible company, tried to sell me like 5000 other things when I tried to call. Couldn't even get a hold of a human being. Again terrible company will never buy anything from embrace insurance ever again
Embrace - they have been great right up until…
they have been great right up until they doubled my premium on my 9 year old domestic medium hair cat. They say it's based on actuarial statistics and promise it's not because of any claims, but it just so happened to take place immediately at renewal after a year of claims due to hypothyroidism. regardless, to DOUBLE the monthly premium is absolutely unacceptable.
Embrace - INTENTIONAL FRAUDULENT REVIEW OF CLAIM
They used the fact that the vet did not see a foreign object in his paw, despite the fact there was a very large wound, it was infected, and they needed to clean it out and prescribe antibiotics, as an excuse to deny the claim. They said since nothing conclusive was found, they could not cover the claim. When I pointed out that the vet said it could have been a foreign object, the claims adjuster had no reponse other than to say the vet did not find anything conclusive. I asked what else could have caused a large wound and needed the care that it did. Again no response. I am filing a claim with the insurance commissioner against them. I would love to be able to file a lawsuit against the adjuster personally for fraud, but I'm not sure it is worth the trouble. I might do so just to prove a point. Horrible company.
Embrace - Cancelled Policy due to cost
I have been an Embrace customer for roughly 8 years. I counted myself a very satisfied client up until recently.
About 4ish months ago added in my puppy, Milo. I had filed a claim for Milo because said dorky puppy ate a mushroom and got pretty sick. Long story short, emails were exchanged, the point of the emails were unclear until I called in and a very patient individual spoke to me in non-insurance speak and explained the issue.
However, in my frustration prior to the call I went shopping for new insurance. After checking with a very large online dog community of dedicated sport dog enthusiasts I opted to investigate a couple of alternate insurance companies. Much to my surprise, I discovered I could get insurance with a higher reimbursement rate, no annual limit, a slightly higher deductible, and added in some routine care (spay, vaccination, etc) for less. Much less. I can cover all 3 dogs, ages 7, 2, and under 1 year, for about $40 less a month. In these rough economic times, customer loyalty is out the window. I'll take the extra $480/year in my pocket.
