Direct Auto - How do I dispute this???
I cancelled my Direct Auto policy before payment was due in June, I got a letter in the mail saying I owed direct auto $289.45... I called them and wanted to know why I owed money to them when I was caught up and decided to cancel it. I only had their insurance for 3 months before I decided to go to progressive and cancel their insurance. When I was canceling the insurance over the phone in June, he didn't tell me I would owe money or anything like that. He just said "Okay, I can cancel that for you. No problem." No warning about having to pay the remaining balance of the policy or anything...
Farmers Insurance - Homeowners liability coverage
I am trying to understand my Farmers insurance homeowners liability coverage and farmers isn’t being helpful at all. Basically what happened is while my wife and I were out of the country, my child accidentally kicked my sprinkler line near the drip system and broke it. Long story short, it flooded a room in my neighbors home over about a 7 day period. They just kept mopping it up and hoping it would stop. I’m not sure why they let it go on for that long but they did. Anyway it ruined some of the floor and caused some moisture to settle into the drywall. It was about a 15 ft x 15 ft area of water damage. Will my homeowners liability insurance cover the water damage in this situation?
AAA - AAA Renters Insurance
So awhile back my husbands car was broken into on the street and things were stolen. All I did was called AAA and asked what the deductible was. Well that someone caused them to cancel my policy even tho a claim was never filed. Has this happened to anyone? Everytime I call, they say I can’t have renters insurance if I already had a claim. Are all renters insurance like this? You’re only allowed 1 claim then they cancel you?
But again, no claim is on file and nothing was done. All I did was call and ask what the deductible was.
Fred Loya Insurance - Fred loya insurance has been ignoring me for 3 weeks
My car was totaled at the beginning of July, it was the other drivers fault and she has Fred loya. I have been completely out of a car for 3 weeks and I can’t get through to anyone. I don’t know what to do.
The car isn’t worth a lot, it’s a 2005 Subaru Outback, but in my area (Colorado ) I should get at least $4,000 for it, they offered me $2,200 and after I sent a bunch of comparables over they’ve been ignoring me.
I have 2 jobs and I go back to school next month, I need a car.
Any advice on how to get them to pay attention to me? I’m pretty poor so getting a lawyer feels out of the question, but I’m also getting desperate.
Thank you in advance
Allstate - Insurance trying to charge me rental?
Background: my car was hit in a parking lot 2 months ago. The auto body shop determined car is not repairable. Allstate claims it is. DOI complaint has been filed and I proceeded with claim with my own insurance company. Now Allstate wants me to pay them back for the rental they were providing. Is this allowed? Can they charge me??
Progressive - Full repair not covered with Progressive
Pretext: In michigan, 2019 Equinox.
So the girlfriend rear ended a trailer, resulted in a decent amount of damage to the front end. Part of the damage was the axle being ripped out of the transmission, loss of fluid and all that goes with that.
She files a claim, we take it to a preferred body shop that is a Cadillac dealer. Repairs were made, we pick it up after it’s ‘finished’. I am the one who picked it up and noticed almost immediately there are shifting problems that did not exist before the accident. Called the body shop and they said they would be the first step, so the car was parked and we went out of town for the 4th of July weekend, dropped he car back to the body shop the following Tuesday.
Have waited this long for an adjuster to rule that it is not loss related due to it being internal to the transmission. And because he can’t see an impact to the transmission, it would not be covered.
I understand it would be hard to prove the problem didn’t exist if it were left only my word. But Progressive won’t pay the diagnostic hours to find out what the problem even is.
Am I out of line expecting more out of this? For a car that operated flawlessly before an accident, shouldn’t I expect the same after repairs? What should the next steps be? When I asked about an appeal process the adjuster said they’re really isn’t one, and two supervisors already agreed with him.
Am I SOL?
Healthypaws - Catastrophic cat insurance - worth it? Preferred company?
Healthypaws is raising our premium to $35/month/cat, have had general cat insurance but almost nothing has been covered - their issues (cat herpes early on, recently anal gland stuff) is hardly covered or not at all.
Looking at catastrophic/accident only insurance - is this worth? Do you have a company you like/hate less than all the other companies? Looked at PetsBest which is suspiciously inexpensive at $6/month vs aspcapetinsurance at $22/month for the same coverage. Any help is appreciated!
['Trupanion', 'Lemonade'] - Trupanion switch
I adopted bonded pair of kittens and got them on pet insurance with trupanion at 8 weeks. They just turned two and trupanion has increased my premiums by 70 % in those two years. I understand they don’t raise the premiums based on pets age, but at this rate I won’t be able to afford to insure them until they get old. Looking at switching to lemonade - my one kitty has two minor claims and my boy has none. I realize her two claims will be pre-existing but they aren’t chronic issues.
To the cat parents with lemonade- do you like it? Are you happy? I know I risk their premiums rising as well but at least I can afford more coverage with a smaller deductible to start. Would love your thoughts I want the best for my babies!! Thank you
Nationwide - Why I didn’t go with Nationwide for my new puppy
I had a great experience with Nationwide for my previous dog, who had epilepsy and developed a lot of complications. We hit our plan’s annual limit halfway through the year, every year — and they paid out thousands without much hassle. Genuinely smooth process.
So naturally, when I got my new puppy (Alfie), I went back to get a quote. But they quoted me over $200/month. I’m guessing it’s because of my history of high claims, even though this is a totally new dog and policy.
I ended up going with Lemonade (for wellness/preventative) and Trupanion (for emergencies/accidents), and I’m paying less than $100 total per month.
Just wanted to share in case others are running into similar pricing surprises with Nationwide. Happy to answer questions about my setup!
