Prudent Pet - I have problems with digital forms vs…
I have problems with digital forms vs physical forms....since that was not an offered item..
The representative who worked with me for the policy had a good document access while deciding.
Embrace - Red flags all around
I thought because USAA partnered with Embrace that it would be an easier insurance provider to deal with, being that we are a military household. We are also overseas, as many military are, so I was not expecting the strange loopholes this company gives to overseas clients.
I signed up through their website with no issues. The second I created an account, had paid for my cat's policy and filled out all of her paperwork, the website went dark. I no longer had access to it. After about a week of trying to log on, I decided to download a VPN and see if it worked from a different IP, which would be strange because it initially allowed me to use my UK IP.
So now I can access my account but only through a VPN, annoying, but doable, but still confused by the switch up because of course, they work with military who are often stationed outside of the US.
Fast forward to my cat dying. I am now trying to cancel my policy and there is no way via the website to do so. You must call one of the six different 1-800 numbers they have listed on their site. They ALL go to the same recording, which, when choosing option 3, to cancel my plan, it rings once and hangs up. I experienced this with every number provided on the site.
There is no e-mail for customer support. There is no person to contact. How is this possible? There is no way for me to cancel my policy?
I absolutely do not recommend Embrace for pet insurance. It's giving scammer vibes. Where are the people who work there and how am I supposed to contact them?
Embrace - So far so good
So far so good. Waiting on a claim payment over one month. However they reassure me that it will be paid asap.
Nationwide - Nationwide: NOT on our side
I used to joke all of the time that “Nationwide is on our side”. Well, things have changed. Significantly. My cat is 13 years old and we have never once used the insurance because I have the major medical. It does not cover wellness or anything like that and he has been healthy. The rates keep increasing by significant amounts that I can no longer afford it. I think I would be too depressed to do the math regarding how much money I have given nationwide in 13 years and not actually used any of the insurance. The payment went from $73 per month to $124 per month. And that is with a $250 deductible. Not including wellness or prevention. I am going to have to drop my cat’s policy which puts him at great risk for the future because I won’t be able to afford treatment for him. Does anyone understand how scary that is? 13 years. And this is what we get??? Definitely do not get this insurance. There has to be something better.
Embrace - Claims site is terrible
Claims site is terrible, both on app and via web. Uploaded every possible clinical document, but they didn't seem like they even looked at them and delayed claim process while "awaiting clinical information". I still haven't had an outcome but Embrace sent me an email asking me to review them, so this is where we are at. Maybe when the claim is finally adjudicated, I may have further feedback.
MetLife - rates doubled in one year
rates doubled in one year. had to cancel coverage on one dog to make it affordable
Nationwide - Feeling very slighted by Nationwide
I have had Nationwide pet insurance for years for my animals. We were unaware of an expired credit card on three of our animals plans, and were not informed of this expiration. Nationwide claimed they sent us a letter in the mail, but didn't update our portal or send an email like every other communication - including the one for this review - was sent. We had a valid credit card on file for our 4th animal but our other 3 animals were dropped. We discovered this issue when our claims we denied despite the prior month (when we supposedly would not have been insured) being accepted. We are now not allowed to reinstate our insurance because during the time of coverage our dogs have gotten too old to have the insurance they now need. We are left stuck with over $4k in bills and more to come for two aging dogs. To say we are disappointed is an understatement.
Nationwide - no one ever got back to us
no one ever got back to us. Even though I am a corporate customer
Nationwide - Have not heard anything back regarding…
Have not heard anything back regarding my application
Pets Best - Very disappointed.
I will say it’s my fault for not reading the fine print. I have accidentally insurance. Pets best has always been great they’ve covered tooth fracture, obstruction surgery etc. my Doberman hurt his leg and had to get ACL surgery which is ACCIDENTAL. They did not cover the surgery. This is a common surgery for animals and you would think they would help to accommodate their customers during times as difficult as this.
