Dutch Pet Insurance - Abusive purchase system
This abusive 'company' forces customers to buy refills at checkout. You cannot choose to buy a single product withouit refills. That's abusive and illegal. Do not suscribe to these felons
Spot Pet Insurance - Sometimes have to submit claims twice…
Sometimes have to submit claims twice or call customer service to get a claim paid.
Fetch Pet - STAY AWAY
I have had coverage with them since my dog was 2 months old. Fast forward 8 years I finally submitted a claim. When I got my renewal amount it literally tripled in cost! I paid them 8 years for nothing and this is how they treat their loyal customers. I canceled my plan. I can put that money in a savings account in case something happens.
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Annual increase from $90/month to $249/month
I've used and appreciated Healthy Paws for my (now senior) dog (aged 12) since 2016. Every year they've had to increase rates slightly; I understand, the cost of care increases, etc. Today I got an email they're increasing my monthly cost from $90.63 to $249.87 - a 2.75x increase. While previously they've offered to adjust your annual deductible or reimbursement percentage to help you find a monthly cost that works for you, they've throttled the options available so the lowest this can get is $201/month. An absolute RACKET. Everyone would be better off putting $90 (or whatever you can afford) into a high yield savings account every month.
Dutch Pet Insurance - Company Puts Profit above animal suffering - Example included
I had to delete part of the end of my review to submit an update. The one star review is confirmed I spoke with them several times and they did nothing to change. As a state (California) I have been organizing as many people as possible to ban them from providing veterinary care. They do not care about animals. Update to review Dutch.com stands by their practices of delaying necessary medication and not providing timely prescriptions. They refunded me the membership fee and I reported them to the Department of Agriculture in California to investigate them for animal cruelty. Their response to me was not kind, remorseful, helpful and was just a bunch of "fine print" about their processes. There was no explanation as to way making an animal wait for necessary medication is needed. If I were you and you were using them and need meds right away, book another appointment with a doctor and tell him or her the purpose of this visit is for you to hang up the phone and call my prescription into Costco have the number ready and remind them that they took an oath and if they do not comply they will be reported to the Board of Veterinary Medicine for animal cruelty. And they will listen because every state has a Board and none of them allow for them to prioritize profits for Dutch.com over the importance of timely care. Review: Recently California (1/1/24) revised the law and allows Telehealth for animals including prescribing medications. This is excellent news. We care for our animals like family, there is a shortage of Vets in certain parts of the state more than others - this is progress. However, it is one step forward one giant step backwards with Dutch. On the eve of July 3rd I was told by my doggy day care that my puppy had "puppy warts" or pappalivirus and he was quarantined and cannot return until he comes back. My vet, an animal "hospital" though closed early for the day and was closed for the holiday all the way through the hospital. As an aside, no hospital should be called such that closes for 4 days. I thought, I have options and used Dutch. I was prepared of course for it to be harder than it looks as one cannot just sign up for a one time visit one must become a member. Fine. I paid the membership fee and booked a visit for 910 am on the 4th. For some reason they tell you to plan for 30 minutes. You get 10 minutes if you're lucky. The vet joined 2 minutes late and ended 2 minutes early, was not friendly, engaging, empathetic or even interested. Instead I got a prescription for anti-inflammatory which I told her in the call I needed transferred to Costco. She said nothing in response. Costco was closed the 4th so I sent several messages through the chat system with the phone number of the Costco and planned to pick up on the 5th. When I go to check on the status I don't even see my message recorded. I call the phone number. No one answers. I leave more messages nothing. I notice a box on the website
Spot Pet Insurance - Worst insurance company. Buyer beware!
Worst insurance company. Do not hire this company. They will not approve any of your claims although perfectly legitimate and inline with supposed coverage. Spent an hour on the phone with customer service and they stated that my dog was completely covered for a dental cleaning only to get completely denied. Very unprofessional. Do not recommend. No one was willing to be helpful. Claimed to reach out to Vet office which was false. When proper documentation was provided, I was denied. I’m absolutely disappointed as I’m out of $1000.
Spot Pet Insurance - Hard to work with
