AKC Pet Insurance - Denied claims based on their error
AKC Pet Insurance denied all claims related to the condition that led to my dog's death (bowel obstruction) because they had paid me $10 for when I took him to the vet when he was vomiting a few months ago. The vet took X-rays at that time and found no obstruction. Their customer service representative provided no recourse and left me with over $10,000 of bills for a very traumatic experience that ended in my beloved young dog's death. They claim that they cannot revise the previous claim because it has been "finalized."
Fetch Pet - Affordable initially but they’ll rip you off once you’re with them.
Initially I was quite impressed with Fetch but I just received my first renewal notice and they’ve hiked my premium up by 15%!!! This seems like a ridiculous price increase given I haven’t even been with them for 6 months (my pup is only 9 months old for context so not many issues health-wise).
Fetch Pet - If I could give them zero stars I…
If I could give them zero stars I would. I really liked Fetch Pet Insurance in the beginning and then it all went down hill. They were constantly asking for more documentation when they already had everything. I rescued a puppy and then signed up for insurance for all my dogs. They had everything from the start but were asking me for information that didn't exist. I have never had to fight so hard to get reimbursed for stuff they said they would cover. I am so fed up, I am cancelling and taking the loss. It's not worth my time and I think that is part of their process. They want you to give up trying. I WOULD NEVER recommend them to anyone!
ASPCA Pet Insurance - This is a racket
This is a racket, don't do it! Put aside the amount of money you would spend on this pet insurance into a different account. I have paid close to 30K to ASPCA Pet Health Insurance over 14 years and have only been reimbursed $3809. Kept telling myself it was "peace of mind". You are way better off setting up a bank account. You could rescue and help hundreds of animals with the money you would save!
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance - Healthy paws is a rip off
I have had healthy paws insurance for my Australian Shepherd, who is now 11 1/2 years old. I have never made any major claims for my dog. This last year had a few small claims after the 250.00 deductible because she developed an allergy. I was just notified that my insurance is going up from $97 to $148 a month. That is an outrageous jump from the previous years increase. I am debating whether to keep this insurance because she is 12 years old. I think it’s a big rip off when pay for your insurance and you never use it and now that she might need it, they raise the rates. They also have a who cares attitude when you call to speak to them. I have another dog that I got after my Australian Shepherd. I went with a different company just because of the rude attitude when I called to get a quote they really don’t care. So disappointing.
Dutch Pet Insurance - Dutch Sucks!
Dutch - the website - is a total con. If you are a previous customer, you have to be very careful they don't charge you twice for the initiation fee.I ended up paying it because I could find no other way to break free of the loop of charges I was on. Once paid though, I had to find a service rep - and that was an experience contrived to make most people say "I give up" and just swallow the wasted money. But I found someone deep in the labryinthe of links, and I got the customary 5 - 7 day refund. However, that 45 being held up so long when you need it for your pet's meds or something else is awful frustrating and you can't help but feel the whole thing is intentional. On the other hand, the vet was good and the rest was fine - I just don't understand how greedy these companies are - most people would have forgotten they paid twice and Dutch would happily take their money if they did.(update: don't believe for a second that their reaching out responses are anything but show - they reached out to me just to verify I was the one the cheated over; once they verified, that was the last I heard from them. No offer to refund me or make things right or anything)

After reaching out several times with a question regarding a claim, I received no response from customer service.
Fetch Pet - Submitted 2 wellness claims
Submitted 2 wellness claims. Both repeatedly denied. Claimed invoices not paid. Not true. Submitted incorrectly. Not true. Reps were rude and dismissive. Have called 5x. Obviously reps are unable to properly do their jobs. Fetch was recommended by SPCA. I'm beyond disappointed. Will be calling SPCA. They should be affiliated with a reputable company
Fetch Pet - It is very difficult to fill out the forms
It is very difficult to fill out the forms. There is a pop up window with tasks and the window you need to fill out is behind it. You cannot move the windows around!!!

I feel like the max amounts that are covered for things like dentals and spays are extremely low, especially for a policy that’s $38 a month.
