Lemonade - Lemonade pet insurance
Hello, I have lemonade insurance for all 5 of my cats. Today I got an email that my claim for my cat was only partially approved (the exam and urinalysis) but not the X-ray. The X-ray was to also check the bladder for uti, and some crystallization was found. They also X-rayed his lungs and found out he has mild asthma. They did not approve the X-ray (and will not approve future asthma treatments) as they’re saying it was a pre existing condition, but it is most definitely not. He went in for sickness twice and both times experienced wheezing because of the sickness and with X-rays was not diagnosed with asthma those times, he also has a nasal anomaly/polyp that causes a funny sounding breathing from his nose, again not asthma but this has been noted in his notes. Has anyone had this happened and successfully appeal? My vet is great and would likely write medical notes or a letter or whatever to help me get his asthma treatment covered.
Liberty Mutual - What should I expect?
A water line burst and flooded my kitchen. I was out of town when it happened (I think) because when I arrived home the floor seeped water when I walked on it.
I filed a claim with Liberty Mutual on Monday. It is now Saturday, and I still don’t have an adjuster assigned to my claim. Is that normal?
I have a water mitigation service helping. They seem to be trustworthy and helpful. Is there anything else I can do to increase my odds of having this go smoothly?
Thanks for any advice you can share.
Embrace - Can I switch with pre-existing conditions?
I have 2 dogs, 7 and 6 years old. They both have had some issues with lower back pain and suspected arthritis but not diagnosed. I got an email notifying me of my embrace insurance premium going to almost double! Can I switch insurance despite them being this old and having received physical therapy? Or are they pre-existing conditions that will prevent a new insurer from writing a new policy?
Edfinancial - Credit Score Tanked by 100+ Points - Fully Paid Small Student Loan (Edfinancial)
Hi guys.
I just needed help on getting my '90+ day' delinquent mark removed. I had a 3k loan that I completely forgot about during covid since it has been paused and one day woke up learning that my loan was transferred to edfinancial in Jan and that my credit dropped by a 100+ points as of 2 days ago.
I got zero warnings, no 30 day or 60 day notification. My credit report says that this is the only missed payment. I own a home and car so I'm not desperate to fix my credit but feel like it's unfair for me to ruin my credit for a simple miscommunication.
I called Edfinancial and they are not budging. I got the same agent twice on two different days lol. I guess they got their money and don't want to deal with me any longer.
My question is can I dispute this with the 3 main credit bureaus? I'm not even sure how to even word the dispute as I'm so confused.
State Farm - Can’t get my State Farm adjuster to call me back
We have a storm damage claim in since June 20th, adjuster came out July 2nd, he sent an estimate and a payment (which we have not yet accepted) on the 3rd. We’ve been trying to get in touch with him since the 7th to no avail (voicemail says he’ll call back within one business day).
What’s my next move?
Empower - New Employer 401k Options
I just started a new job and received the Empower 401k fund options below. All of these funds appear to have high expense ratios (most around 1%) and overall don’t seem to be that great.
I’m considering rolling over my old 401k to this new plan or an IRA. My old plan is valued at approximately $500k invested in passive total market index funds. I’m 40 married no kids.
While I won’t be able to do the backdoor Roth IRA if I rollover my old plan to an IRA, I feel like the funds available at fidelity are superior to these.
I’m just looking for another opinion on this before I make any decision.
Thank you!

United Health Care - Question about Premium Increase
Hello. In December 2024 I enrolled in health insurance with United Health care through my employer during open enrollment. Benefits were to begin 1/1/2025 and my premium was to be $54.44. I noticed on my recent paycheck that my premium had more than doubled. I never received notice of this premium increase and only realized it had happened because my paycheck was smaller. I called them and they said the increase was because they "recalculated my information and saw an adjustment was needed." I demanded they cancel my plan, as I had not agreed to this premium. They said I wasn't allowed to cancel until the next open enrollment period with my employer in December 2025. They said they would open an appeal on my behalf and created a ticket, but I’m doubtful it’s going to make a difference, they will likely just reiterate what they already said and not allow me any recourse. Are they allowed to do this? Do I have any options in this situation or do I just have to accept that they can charge me whatever they like throughout the course of the year? I was not aware rates could change mid-policy like this. I am 48 and healthy. I have a nearly $10,000 deductible, and don’t go to the doctor for anything outside of my yearly checkup because I cannot afford to pay for anything out of pocket. I’ve also stopped taking prescribed medication because I don’t want to pay for that out of pocket either, and I can get by without it. It’s crazy to me they’re allowed to do this. Apologies in advance if I have posted in the wrong place.
Geico - Uninsured
Had my payment coming up of $519 ( 2 payments of 259, lumped together) I instacart for my income and it had become too hot recently to do as much as normal. I let geico know i could pay some not the full amount due, representative told me pay what I can.. thinking it was notated on my acct and id be ok.. (8 years of coverage) I continued to work although I started training at the job I finally got hired for, taking away time to instacart.. long story short I saw Geico canceled me on 7/21, I found out a few days ago because I don’t check emails often. They usually text me. Im in NY, To reinstate I need to pay off my balance 389 + 300 for new coverage.. I don’t get paid until the 15th.. anything I can do? what do I need to be concerned about? any penalties.. etc. Really thought the representative did me a solid, why not say it would still cancel?!
Airbnb - AirBnB Host lied about conflict with AirBnB
Location: Indiana
I recently booked an Airbnb for a month. The day I was set to check in to the room I was staying in the host, who is live overseas in the EU, called me and goes into a story about how he is in a conflict with AirBnB and that due to this conflict AirBnB won’t give him any of the money that people pay to stay at his rental, he doesn’t really go into any real specific details other than that. I was desperate for a place to stay so I don’t really ask a lot of questions in that moment. He says that he will call AirBnB customer service to get a refund and then I can pay him the same amount I payed on AirBnB to his PayPal account after I’ve received the refund. I agree and I await my refund from AirBnB. I receive it and I payed him through PayPal as discussed.
Around 3 weeks I start having various issues with the host, he’s calling me, stars saying I’ve got to do this and that, nothing illegal just various things like take pictures of the place to ensure his agent is keeping the place clean and making the repairs he is supposed too. I refused but I thought this was odd so I did a court records search on him and that’s when I uncovered that he was lying about the extent of the conflict with Airbnb. In fact he doesn’t have a conflict with AirBnB at all, he has a judgement against him and an order was issued to AirBnB to withhold all of the money from the hosts rental to and instead give that money to whom the money on the judgement is owed. I’m floored by this because I never would have agreed in the payment arrangement had I known the truth.
I think what the host is doing is wrong and I’d like to go to the local attorney of those who have been awarded the judgement and/or AirBnB’s legal team to fill them in on the situation. My only concern is that I’ve somehow become complicit in this guys scheme through the payment arrangement and I could be putting myself in legal trouble as well. I want to do the right thing but I also don’t want to screw myself over in the process.
Are my concerns valid? If so could I possibly work out a deal with the local attorney and/or AirBnBs legal team to be immune from any recourse for my cooperation in presenting evidence in this guys scheme to get around the order put in place to pay the judgement?
I appreciate any input on this situation I’ve found myself in.
Edward Jones - Comparing Rate of Return in Retirement Account
My Simple IRA is with Edward Jones through my employer. My advisor, a glorified used car salesman, claims that it’s not fair to compare my returns with him to either the SPTMI or my own Roth IRA. His reasoning is that because it sees contributions twice a month, there’s always recent contributions that have not grown which makes the return seem lower. The account is only two years old and has about 10k in it. It shows about 12% growth for 2024 while the SPTMI and my ROTH IRA (30k, maxed early in the year, 80/20 VTSAX/ VTIAX) showed about 24%. Does his explanation hold any weight? My returns over the last rolling year are negative by <1% while my ROTH is up over 13% still just because of how strong last year was.
Appreciate anyone’s input!
