Allstate - Allstate denying diminished value claim
I was rear ended at a dead stop and it caused $13k of damage. I have a Hyundai Palisade with only 9.5K miles on it. Allstate accepted fault, but they are denying my claim for loss of value. They are saying since my Palisade was in an accident (also rear ended) three years ago ($17K damage in that one) that there would be no additional loss of value. I find it hard to believe the second accident would diminish the value of my car by ZERO. What are my options here? Thanks in advance!
Allstate - Traded for a 1 year newer, less valuable car, insurance quote is double current premium
I use Allstate, and currently have two cars on my policy, and am happy with my rate. I just traded one of the cars in for basically the same car, but the smaller version with fewer options (mostly luxuries, it has all the safety features). It is worth about $3,000 less than the car I traded in.
When I called to make the change. They told me it will double my premium. No changes to any aspect of the policy, coverages, etc. A less valuable car. I cannot find a single reason my premium would increase at all, much less double. Anyone have any ideas?
UPDATE: Thank you all for your input. I’ll never know the answer to what they were thinking because I immediately called another (well known, reputable) company and within 15 minutes had a new policy that’s 30% less than my ORIGINAL policy was.
UPDATE 2: To the people who are digging in on “statistically it must just be more expensive to insure,” just…no. Aside from the obvious fact that no significant differences exist from one year to t
Allstate - Grandfather wrecked his vehicle
He's fine, but the vehicle is totaled. His fault. He's pushing 81, and his memory is starting to go, so neither of us realized his insurance wasn't up to date. It expired at the end of June, and he usually does the 6 month payment thing. We dont know if it got lost in the mail or what, but he's currently uninsured. He's with Allstate and has been with them for decades, but they simply referred him to another insurance company when they called him back to explain his account was no longer active. Despite him funneling thousands and thousands to them through the decades hes been with them, one missed payment seems to be the end all be all. I'm going to call them personally tomorrow to try and figure this out, but I was wondering if you guys had any advice for me?
Allstate - Allstate Charge, Help
Hi,
I cancelled my policy with Allstate on July 29th after paying my July 1st bill with my next bill date being August 1st. Cancelled my renters and auto in one swoop through the online chat, though next day I realized they hadn't cancelled my auto. Only my renters, I contacted them again. They backlogged the effective date for the auto to the 29th as the renters was. I already thought they were trying to get an extra payment out of me there, hoping that I wouldn't catch it... The reps on chat assured me that I wouldn't owe my next payment on the 1st since I cancelled my policy previous to the payment date.
The next day I checked to ensure the auto cancellation went through and it did show effective so I went ahead and turned off auto-pay.
Next day there is a charge on my account for $302. Today I had the time to call so I called Allstate. First rep asked me some questions and then put me on hold for 40 minutes, only for another rep to answer. Second rep told me that my bill has been sent to collections and gave me the number to call. I called collections and they haven't received anything due for me.... I called Allstate again..
Last rep told me that the extra $302 was due to the cancellation of auto-pay on my already cancelled policy.. Also stating that technically my due date without auto-pay would've been on the 18th of each month, which she said if i hasn't have turned off auto-pay they would've owed me money.
This is genuinely not making any sense to me and feels like a gigantic scam. None of the reps at Allstate are willing to waive my balance due to an incorrect charge. Do I just wait for the bill to hit collections and then dispute it? What can I do about this? I'm also infuriated that I spent in total two hours on the phone for this.. lots of misinformation all around and no resolution.
AllState - Additionally Insured Renters
I recently signed a lease for a new apartment. I currently have AllState, however they don’t allow Landlords/businesses to be additionally insured under my policy.
So what insurances do allow landlords to be additionally insured? NOT an additional interest. I can’t find any information on this! And every customer support/agent I talk to gets very confused.
Allstate - What could the Honda dealership do?
Hi. So I purchased a new car and am within a year of paying it off (I’m paying it off ahead of schedule) when I was at the dealership it was required that I had full coverage until the car was paid off. Now my question is, what could Honda do if I change my insurance company (I’m currently with the useless all state) and change my plan to minimum coverage?
Allstate - Insurance trying to charge me rental?
Background: my car was hit in a parking lot 2 months ago. The auto body shop determined car is not repairable. Allstate claims it is. DOI complaint has been filed and I proceeded with claim with my own insurance company. Now Allstate wants me to pay them back for the rental they were providing. Is this allowed? Can they charge me??
Allstate - Hello, I just had a water inlet pipe under my kitchen sink burst a hole in the side and it flooded my kitchen. I’m wondering if it’s covered
I have Allstate homeowners insurance in Southern California. I heard a noise in my kitchen a little while after I started my dishwasher so I went to investigate. I found my kitchen floors were covered in water. I finally realized it was a burst water inlet pipe underneath my kitchen sink. I’ve been trying to get a hold of my agent but he isn’t available today. I spoke to someone through Allstate and was told to call somebody out to mitigate damages. I’m afraid to have somebody come out and tear up my kitchen if the insurance is not going to cover it.
Allstate - Diminished value claim with Allstate
This is my first time dealing with something like this and I’m looking for some guidance. Long story short in May I was involved in a Rear End accident. The owner of the other vehicle was at fault and I am trying to file a diminished value claim through Allstate insurance (the other drivers insurance) as I was planning on selling my car and upgrading this year. After repairs, I took my vehicle (2024 Subaru Crosstrek premium with under 20,000 miles) to the Subaru dealership to get an estimate of diminished value (they estimated $1500). They gave me a printout indicating this. I submitted it to Allstate and Allstate is coming back and saying they’re only giving me $500 because there was “no structural damage damage done” I live in the state of Oregon. (Not sure if that matters) Am I stuck with this $500 or is there a way to negotiate the full $1500?
TIA!
Allstate - Bundle Auto + Home Insurance through Allstate: getting incredible home insurance rates and terrible car insurance rates
Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to proceed with insurance as my policies are set to renew in about three weeks. I have Allstate for both auto and home insurance, and I get a $300 discount on both the auto and home premiums as a result. My home insurance for this coming year (12 month rate) is set to be $2270 - when I looked online and talked to a couple of agencies, the lowest I got was \~$2800 with some of those quotes going well into 3k and even 4k. I'm not sure why my home insurance rate with Allstate is so good comparatively to other agencies, though the discount section does mention responsible payments (haven't missed any mortgage payments) contributing to a $600 bonus, and a loyalty bonus of $250.
On the other hand, my auto insurance rates are way higher than anything I'm being quoted on. My rate for the next 6 months of auto insurance is $1262 for a 2021 Subaru Forester. As far as classification goes, I'm 26, male, and married. I've had a single accident just under 5 years ago (late 2020 - minor bump to the car in front of me, and I was the at fault driver). Upon doing quotes with other agencies using the exact same deductibles/coverage amounts, I got anywhere from $770 (from a local independent agent) to just under $1000.
I'm trying to determine if it's worth swapping to another agency for cheaper car insurance, but I'd lose my bundle discount and the convenience of handling all of my insurance from one place, with one agent. Would y'all say it would be better to stick with Allstate, or should I try and pursue a better auto policy?
