Allstate - Allstate refused cancellation request due to signature match
I faxed in a request to cancel and cash out an unneeded long-term care policy. I noticed I was billed again, about a month later. I received in the mail that same day a letter denying my request because the signature doesn't match what they have on file. I called Allstate and they told me all I can do is resubmit and ensure the signature matches, but it'll be declined again if it still doesn't. I was told I'd lose the accrued value if I disputed the charge or stopped the payments.
I'm at a loss. My signature hasn't changed. Any suggestions?
Allstate - Got rear-ended -- should I use the insurance-recommended body shop or go with my own local / trusted shop?
Got rear-ended at a standstill last week by a new driver. Filed a claim with his insurance (Allstate). Their adjuster gave me a list of preferred shops — only one (a chain) has good reviews, but Reddit has a lot of horror stories about this chain (not my exact location though).
I have a local, independent shop I trust. Allstate says I can use any shop, but the adjuster got vague when I asked about downsides of going out-of-network.
Redditors in r/AutoBody warn against in-network shops since they supposedly work more for the insurer than the customer. I'm just worried about delays, surprise costs, or Allstate refusing to pay. I don't want this to turn into a massive ordeal or be without my vehicle for too long.
That said, I had some other body work I wanted my local shop to do (which I’d be paying out of pocket for), so it would be convenient to “kill two birds with one stone” to take it to them and let them handle all the repairs at once — versus having the chain handle my insurance repair and then turning around and having to go back to the local shop for the other work.
What would you do — play it safe with the insurance recommended chain shop, or stick with the local / independent shop I trust?
Allstate - AllState denying hail claim - what should I do next?
Had 2 roofing companies come and inspect the roof for hail damage, and they both claimed there is hail damage. However, Allstate insurance denied the claim, saying there is 0 hail damage. I sent the report from roofing companies, but they deny it's due to hail. I tried requesting a different adjuster, but Allstate won't budge. Any recommendations on how to proceed with insurance? I have heard I need to hire a public adjuster. Is there a certified inspection I can do that has more value than a roofer's? This is in texas.
Allstate - All State
So I have auto insurance with All State here in Canada and I was provided a questionnaire for my renewal term which I filled out. All state says to fill it out otherwise there’s penalties and whatnot so I fill it out. They increased the premium on my last monthly payment before renewal and aren’t budging because we sent the questionnaire that they asked for before we paid the last payment so now they’re counting it as a policy change which is stupid. I work as an actuary in auto insurance and I’ve never dealt with this sort of stuff. What should I do?
Allstate - Help interpreting debt validation letter response
My girlfriend received a collection letter last month about an outstanding AllState Insurance bill she does not believe she owes. Following my advice, we sent a debt validation letter to the collector, using a template we found on the cfpb (consumer financial protection bureau) website. The response from the collector did not make much sense to us. They essentially said "we need more information from you to provide the info you asked for. You also didn't provide any info to dispute the debt"....which is not what we were trying to do.
Does this response mean they do not have the information to validate the debt? Or did the template we used not do what we expected? Is the next step to file a complaint with the cfpb as [this](https://www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/what-information-does-a-debt-collector-have-to-give-me-about-the-debt-en-331/) page suggests, or do we just ignore this and go on our way?
By the way, this isn't affecting her credit yet.

Allstate - Allstate is asking for proof of roof age when filing a hail damage claim.
I bought my house in 2019 from my father. He says he had the roof replaced in the last 10 years or so but doesn't have any documentation of it.
When I started my policy with Allstate they sent an inspector out to inspect my house and issued my Policy.
Last month, we had a bad hail storm that damaged my roof. When I tried to file a claim for it they are asking for proof of age roof, which I don't have. Shouldn't this have been asked for back in 2019 when I originally got the policy?
Do I have any recourse in this situation? TIA!
Allstate - Feeling pretty good about TL settlement, but Allstate has been a royal pain to work with.
Posting to hopefully shed hope on people in similar situations!
One year ago today, we were involved in a MVA. From the start, Allstate began the claims process incorrectly, failing to send a field adjuster out to inspect the vehicle for hidden damage before beginning repairs. Several months later during repairs, the body shop found hidden frame damage. This led to the vehicle being deemed a total loss.
We have fought with Allstate for well over 8 months, trying to get responses from our adjusters, managers, and the ombudsman with virtually no responses. 3 months ago, they provided a settlement offer. The amount was low. They specifically advised us that we could send comparables that were listed through Autotrader and other local sources ONLY. The car was a specialty sports car, with comps not widely available.
I sent comps from alternate sources, not accepted by the insurance company. After a long silence and a lot of frustration, they agreed to the sources I gave and eventually settled with an amount 40% higher than the original offer. I know that there is normally about 10% wiggle room on settlements however, with a lot of time and patience, we were able to get them up above what we even believed the vehicle was worth, in addition to a reimbursement of all premiums paid on that vehicle post-claim while they wasted time by not replying.
I hope this is motivation to those dealing with similar issues to not give up, even when things are bleak. It took a year between screw ups, lack of communication and delays but we got there. And please, do yourself a favour and avoid Allstate!
Allstate - Allstate Quote: Questions
I ran the same quote three times and I keep getting different numbers.
One quote said $300, the other said $330 and then I get an email saying it’s $196.
What’s going on here?
Allstate - Allstate premium hike
Had anyone else had a sudden very large increase on their auto insurance premium? I've had allstate for 1.5 years now, and it suddenly jumped up by over $100 a month with no changes.
This seems to big a hike to just be rising insurance costs. Has anyone had a big increase as well? Or suggestions for what to do? I can never seem to get an answer from Allstate. One customer service person told me that Florida was having storms and this impacts insurance prices (I don't live in Florida). I'm thinking about just changing insurance companies :(
Allstate - Car Insurance Drastically Increasing
I have Allstate currently, paying ~$300/month for bare minimum requirements on financed car. Final payment was just drafted, and they sent me renew documents. New monthly premium will be almost $400/month. No accidents, incidents, new drivers, nothing. Everything is exactly the same as when I started the policy. Why would it go up so much? I expected an increase but I feel like this is a lot. I’m a fairly young driver (22) with a newer vehicle, so I know that’s a factor, but I simply can’t afford to pay that much. Is it going up for everyone?
