Allstate - Allstate overcharged home insurance for years, will not give us our money back
Can anyone give me an idea of what to do? Allstate misrepresented how many sq feet our house is. My spouse (who does most of the bills etc) did not notice this for literally years, and made a phone call as soon as they did. It's a difference of about a thousand dollars a year. Allstate readjusted the sq footage. They gave us one year's overpayment back, and basically told us too bad about the rest, and there's nothing they can do about it. Well of course there is something they can do about it, they just chose not to.
They gave us a year back. We got our next bill in the mail last week, and they had put the wrong sq footage on it again! Needless to say this is super aggravating. Their refusal to do anything is really absurd. They stole from us and don't care at all. You know how it is...every person we talk to just sends us to someone else. Is there anything I can do? Any advice would be so appreciated.
Allstate - Washington State Wreckers License?
Received this correspondence from our go to body shop. Pre repair/estimate of record phase. Can someone tell me what this means? Wondering if I should look for a less expensive shop, or if this is the case for all legit WA state auto body shops (and our best bet is to ask AllState to pony up). Thank you in advance —
THEM:
Hi,
Allstate has selected a used headlamp from Texas junk yard. I’m not able to buy used parts out of state unless they have a Washington State Wrecker’s License.
This could be an out of pocket cost to you up to $1000 if Allstate does not budge on this subject.

Thank you,
Allstate - Please, Allstate, come to the 2020s
I decided to delve into my homeowners policy to understand it in more detail because of a current potential claim. I was amazed that the 30-page document that I had from Allstate didn’t include may details beyond our coverage limits. There were 8 “amendments” listed, but only 2 were included. After chatting with a customer service rep, it appears that the information I need is in the “policy jacket”. Amazingly, I can’t get an electronic copy and have to wait 5-7 business days to get a copy in the mail. So much for paperless.
Allstate - AllState Approving Only Partial Roof Claim Because of Past Damage That was Fixed
Recently a storm blew through and did a ton of damage in the neighborhood. Adjustor came out and declared the roof a total loss, however all said they were exploring possible negligence. Couple weeks later they declared that the could only pay for half the roof because they had pictures of roof damage 2 years ago (damage was just a dozen or so 3 tab shingles that had torn off, nothing major, which was since repaired). The next day they just deposited the money in my bank account, however I haven't signed or agreed to anything.
Is it possible or worthwhile to fight this? Unfortunately I don't have a paper trail of the roof repair because a friend of mine fixed it to return a favor.
I spoke with a roofing company with good reviews on Google who said they will fight it for us. That a good idea? Also reaching out to my friend to see if he has any companies he recommends.
Allstate - Allstate denied my claim on their insured. Anything I can do?
I was in a car accident yesterday. A person ran a red light as I was entering an intersection and ripped across the front of my car. Bumper cover was destroyed, and the hood won't open now. Unfortunately there were no witnesses (no one stopped, anyway), and the other person's insurance company (Allstate) says I'm at fault (I suspect the other driver lied about running the light). Is it worth the effort trying to sue for what is likely to be $10,000 or less in damage? Will it be possible to get an attorney to take such a small case?
Allstate - Help- Landlord insurance newbie
I am looking to start renting my home in July when I move out of the country. I'm very confused on landlord insurance, though, and would love some help understanding it.
Everything on Google says landlord insurance should be cheaper than homeowners insurance since they don't cover the personal property, but from my one quote so far from Allstate it's also looking like they don't cover the actual property either. What is $66,500 going to do for me if my house burns down or gets sucked up in a tornado? (Quote at the bottom)
It just doesn't seem logical to me.
The lady on the phone said something about requiring renters insurance and that THAT would cover the rest of the property should something happen, but is that true?
I am a worrier beyond worrier, and want to make sure everything is protected, especially since I'll be in a different country.
Could anyone help me understand what I should be looking for/asking for/quoting for? And what should I be requiring for the renters insurance? I have an insurance broker getting me more quotes at the moment.
I just don't want to make the wrong decision and end up getting 1/3 of my remaining mortgage should something happen to the house. 😩

Allstate - One side of Duplex Owner - Structural insurance
Hi,
i currently have All State for the one side of a duplex that i own. But they only cover up to the stud work. No structural.
I've asked them numerous times how do i insure the structure but i get no real answer.
How do i get structural insurance, foundation, frame, roof & then the rest MEP etc as the owner of one side of a duplex?
Allstate - Question about insuring new driver - getting ripped off?
I have a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback insured with Allstate. My older son used to drive it, but he's now away at college (out of state) and only occasionally drives when he's home. My younger son is about to get his license, and when I asked Allstate about adding him to the policy, they said my monthly premium will essentially double.
This seems excessive since their overall risk exposure isn’t really doubling—my younger son is essentially replacing my older son as the primary driver, not adding a whole new vehicle to the policy. It feels like a shady business practice.
Is this a common experience with teen drivers? Am I getting ripped off, or is there a way to negotiate this? Any advice on dealing with Allstate or switching providers?
Allstate - Allstate Hassle
Hello everyone, I have a question.
I was recently involved in a not-at-fault accident with an Allstate-insured driver. Unfortunately, my own insurance canceled the night before the accident, so I did not have PIP coverage. Allstate has informed me that I’m responsible for a $7,400 medical bill, despite them reserving $5,500 for future medical expenses related to the accident.
If they have funds set aside for medical expenses, why can’t those be applied to the existing bills? I do not feel they are actuinh in good faith. Would it be advisable to seek legal assistance at this point?
Thank you for any insights.
Allstate - Ditch Allstate for amica in GA?Questions….other companies?
No claims in 12 years with Allstate. Hear their home claims are a nightmare. Hear good things about Amica.
Carry homeowners, 2 autos, and an umbrella.
Would cut my auto insurance half but double my homeowners leading to a wash prior to the amica dividend payment.
Couple questions:
What do you use to calculate your replacement cost for a house?
Do you make any changes to that calculation if the policy has an overage waiver? My Allstate is 20% and the quoted amica is 30%.
Any reason to carry additional structures if I don’t have a fence or our buildings?
Any others to look into for insurance? With amicas rates in auto, it could make sense to break out my homeowners if we don’t choose to bundle.
