GEICO - Crashed back in July, GEICO can't insure the ambulance ride?
So like the title says, I crashed my car in July. It was stated that I was at fault and geico covered every bill, except the ambulance one. The thing is, I didn't know there was an ambulance bill until a month ago, they said somehow the ambulance wasn't able to get the insurance or anything but I called GEICO and sent over the bill, and now they are saying they can't cover it and it has to be sent through my health insurance. I'm confused on that part because I thought if it was a vehicle accident then GEICO would cover it, but now they're saying otherwise.
I'm just trying to understand the policies cuz I'm just confused right now.
Edit:
I live in NJ, and they said my coverage wasn't exhausted yet.
Geico - Car accident settlement
I was driving east on 71 headed home for the day after work when someone pulled out from a stop sign on Albert Brown Drive. I was luckily able to maneuver around the person without making any contact with the vehicle however in doing so my vehicle spun out and landed in a ditch. Vehicle is totaled, my head was bleeding from a minor cut, cut on my leg, bruise on my shoulder, little bit of neck pain but the worst was the red mark on the back of my ribs and a coupled ribs being bruised. Sucks I had just bought the car not a month ago and was a fairly rare 1993 Volvo 240 sedan that was black on black with chrome accents, super slick car and I looked forever until I could find it.
Geico called me and said how usually this is an odd case because there was no contact with the other vehicle however the driver and police report said it was his fault so Geico is wanting to offer me a settlement. they offered $2,450 as basically "we sorry" this happened and will still cover the medical expenses from the ER and the vehicle cost's. Just not sure if I should take the offer being the wreck caused me to lose two days of work at one job and haven't been able to go back to my other job since I don't have a vehicle. Also I have racked up close to 300 dollars on Lyft rides, plus 150 to have my totaled car taken home and have my girlfriend leave work to drive 30 minutes to get me and take me to the ER. Also missed one of my best friends birthday parties the day after the accident and haven't been able to go back running or working out since the accident. I'm debating on hiring an attorney but resistant since my medical injuries were not severe. Also I have no idea how much they will pay out for the vehicle and online says 2000-7000 just sucks cause I can't find another car like it and not to mention I just spent 600 plus dollars on parts for the car.
If anyone has had this similar experience what did you do, did you take the initial offer, negotiate with the insurance company or go through an attorney. I greatly appreciate anyones advice and input.
Also if anyone has a 2001-2006 Honda CR-V for sale that's what I will be looking for once this is settled.
Geico - Keeping the geico insurance money?
I've seen some posts like this but figured I would ask my own question. I have a 2010 f350 dually that I only use to carry the camper or pull the boat. I think I owe around 10k on the loan if that. My truck bed camper came loose and sat on my wheel well bending the bed rail and fender. I submitted it to geico and they gave me $1700. Few months later I got an estimate from a shop and it will be $8000 to fix. It's just cosmetic and doesn't bother me too much since I very rarely drive it. Can I keep the money and instead put a flatbed on the truck in the future? I'm 32 and this is my first insurance claim. I'm looking for advice from anyone but would like to know preferably from people with experience with keeping the money from geico. Any advice is appreciated!
GEICO - 1 month old car hit on passenger door, GEICO asking to take the claim on my policy even as person accept his fault
Hello Everyone, My car was hit from side by another person backing out in school parking. He accepted his fault and gave me his insurance and DL. Both of us have GEICO so thought it would be easy claim. When I put the claim, Geico reached out saying he has coverage issues and asked to use my policy for damage repair as No fault even though his policy showed active from 02/01/2025 - 08/01/2025 and my car being hit on 3/28/2025. GEICO mentioned it would be difficult in case person doesn't pay. How do I proceed, and what about the diminished value as GEICO saying if claim is put on my policy, GEICO will not pay Diminished claim. What are my options, can someone please suggest as car is just 1 month old. There is big dent on the passenger side. How can someone insurance shows active from Feburary but they will not pay. Appreciate your advice. Thank you.
Geico - My car insurance is so expensive
I recently bought a car is a Hyundai accent 2019. It has 70k miles but here is the problem; I’m currently paying 327.94$ for my car insurance with Geico and that is insanely expensive. I know that I can change my car insurance after 6 month, but I want to know if someone know a cheaper car insurance or something that I could do for make it cheaper after the 6 months. I’m 20 year old and I’m new in the USA. Please I need some advice.
GEICO - Can GEICO add driver to my policy without permission??
So I recently opened a new policy with GEICO for my car. A few days after opening the policy(march 2025), they added a driver without contacting me or giving me any notification. That alone increased my premium $450. The driver that was added is my GF that doesn’t live in my household or is licensed to drive(never got a DL). They claim I added her in a quote but i didn’t quote with them since ~Nov-Dec 2024(she visited during this time and left in Jan)I know you’re supposed to include any person in the household in a policy due to liability but I’m currently living alone. GEICO also claimed that they use “DMV records” to add drivers to policy on behalf of the customers if we didn’t do it already. That couldn’t be the case since my GF had no affiliation with the DMV in my state. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated
Geico - Unique claim situation - car title and registration not under my name
I am currently a policy holder with Geico and have have owned my car (beater) and insured with Geico since last 7-8years. Today I got a phone call from Geico for a claim against me and it got added to my account. (I have no current relation to this vehicle and the date and time that they mentioned I was in office)
Background (Spring/Summer 2023):
* I was briefly on my family member's insurance with Geico \~2years ago
* Family member sold/transferred the car to the new owner \~2years ago
* Family member did car's transfer paper work including release of liability
* The new owner did confirm that they went to DMV and transferred the car under their name within the 10 business day period
* Family member canceled the Geico policy which I was part of as well (secondary driver) since I would occasionally drive this car (there is an email confirmation from Geico for cancellation of the policy, also \~2 years ago)
* To reconfirm family member spoke to DMV agent through chat and they confirmed the car's title and registration was not on their name anymore (however due to privacy they didnt mention the new owners name) - Their is saved transcript from \~2years ago
But \~2years later a claim gets added on my Geico policy for this vehicle. At this point this vehicle ownership is not under me or my family. The vehicle was sold/transfer to new owner back in 2023. Assuming the new owner that took the ownership of the car got into an accident but I have nothing to do with this.
Spoke to Geico and did not get clear instructions at first and then the last customer service agent tells me to provide proof that there is no relation to this vehicle.
I and family member who owned this car previously not sure how to handle this situation.
Anybody experienced anything like this before? Appreciate any comments
GEICO - FL - Own/Financing Car but keeping with Girlfriend
Hello, I have a very unique situation here lol.
I am moving out of state where I will no longer need to use my vehicle. However, I don’t want to get rid of it and my girlfriend and I have planned to let her use it until her lease ends next year to move with me. So - the car is hers essentially in every way but legally and since I am still financing it I know I have to be on the auto insurance. However, the car is going to be used by her primarily and stored at her FL address.
I explained the situation to GEICO and they said they couldn’t insure this situation since the car would not be stored at the owner’s address.
Is this going to be allowed by any auto insurance or am I screwed aka need to find an alternative way to handle this situation?
Thanks,
Geico - Auto Insurance
How accurate does the quote be when “dealership” works with multiple auto insurance companies to get you the best rates possible.
Family member (new driver), called Geico for a quote and was given a high rate. She went to a dealership to see a vehicle that she was interested and left the dealership with the vehicle. Her word was “the saleperson and the person that deals with insurance at the dealership was able to get her a better deal.
I tried to tell her dealership just do their quote online and uses that to bait customers into buying the vehicles.
Dealer: Geico- $1983 for 6 months full coverage
Family member: (over the phone): Geico - $5,400 for 6 months full coverage
Thanks for y’all feedbacks.
Geico - Car Insurance Unaffordable Because of Accident History. Do I turn in my license and sell my car?
I am 24, and I got my license at 19. In the past 3 years I have had 3 accidents, 2 of which the car was totaled/not worth repairing. We have Geico, and to renew the plan with me on it they’re charging is about 8k per 6 months, or about 1300 a month. When my dad tried to shop around, the only other company willing to take us on with myself as a driver was Progressive, and when all the details were filled out they wanted to charge us even more. Since I am a member of the household with a license, I have to be on any car insurance plan he gets. We have two other cars, so selling my car wouldn’t impact my dad. I was thinking that after selling my car, I could use the money to pay for ride-sharing.
Also: if I turn in my license now and try to renew it next year, will the premiums go down or stay the same?
